Arrived after a hard day's cycling to a 4* campsite that advertised restaurant facilities (out of town) to be met by some of the worst owners/managers I have come across in years.
No social skills whatsoever (and we did speak French) and everything was done in a caustic manner.
Food (take away chips/burgers) was grudgingly made, expensive and not that pleasant
WiFi wasn't free and drinks very expensive
Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere - you deserve better!

We are a family - 2 adults, 3 children, and I am wiring this as the mum. We were recommended to stay on this campsite by another campsite in Jumieges which was full. I read the previous reviews and wasn't sure what to expect but as they are very out of date, I was optimistic that it would be different.
Barre-y-va is in a lovely location along the Seine and was perfect for us for an overnight stay driving back to Calais from the South. It is a 5 minute drive from Caudebec-en-Caux where we had a delicious meal in this restaurant/creperie
The site has an indoor pool which the kids loved after 7 hours sitting in the car. It closes at 7pm and you have to supervise your children, but I had no problem with sitting on a sun lounger reading my book while they swam. There was also a trampoline and an outdoor exercise area which looked fun for the kids too but they spent all their time in the pool.
It's quite small so feels quite intimate but the pitches are separated by hedges so you have your own space. It was clean and the new management were extremely friendly. I ordered pain, croissants etc and collected it from reception the next morning.
The toilet facilities are quite basic (you had to provide your own loo roll), but the showers are hot. The site did indeed get locked at 10pm but they give you a security tag to access a side door to the site after curfew and you can park you car outside the site in a car park if you return after the gates are locked.
There were some campers who were drinking quite late and the next morning the management came to apologise to me for their behaviour (I personally had not noticed it) and said that they did not accept that sort of behaviour and they had been asked to leave! They also said how much they like having English campers because we are very respectful and friendly.
All in all, we were delighted that our last night in France after camping for 2 weeks was in this lovely little site. There are many factor that make campsites worth a visit, and I would definitely recommend this.

I was very intrigued to find out what other people had written about this campsite as we had such a horrible time there.
I agree with the other two reviewers - the road is really busy and very noisy. The owners/staff are very unfriendly, rude and unhelpful.
We stayed here on on our way home after a fantastic months holiday and it made our last night in France very disappointing !
Like one of the reviewers friends we were parked just in from the gate in what looked like and felt like a carpark.
Because it was our last night we didn't have a lot of food in as we intended to eat out, we noticed that the campsite served food even though there was only a couple of things that they made we decided to eat there. We made a note of the time that they stopped serving and arrived in the bar before then to be told that we couldn't order any food!
Hungry, tired and wishing we had stayed somewhere else we got the bikes out and cycled on the horrible road to the village. The village is really lovely and it was very quiet, the locals were very friendly and we had a lovely meal.
On arriving back at the campsite at 10. 30pm we found the main gate had been locked! We went to another little gate but that was locked too! We were completely locked out! The owners had failed to tell us that they locked both gates at night and we would need a key pass to get in. Luckily a group of males who were staying there were going out and they opened the gate for us but my husband had been saying that we were going to have to throw the bikes over the fence and for us to climb over!
We didn't say anything the next morning because the owners/staff could barely speak any english anyway.
As we were not booked in for the tunnel until later that night I took the phrase book into reception and asked if we were able to stay longer. The lady understood what I was saying and point blank turned me down. There was no one else in the 'car park' and there was no one else staying at the campsite apart from us and a couple of people with tents. No reason that we could see for them to refuse us, we were quite prepared to pay a few euros more if we had to.
The showers and toilets were ok but very basic.
The campsite owners/staff were unhelpful and unfriendly and we wouldn't recommend staying here

We have just returned from a couple of nights at Barre y Va. It was during the last few nights of our holiday so after many lovely experiences elsewhere we hoped for a nice stay.
Unfortunately the owners, having firstly lost our booking, then went on to be thoroughly unhelpful and unfriendly to the point of being rude for the duration of our stay there. We were made to feel thoroughly unwelcome. I also noticed them having an extremely loud argument with another camper during our stay.
I agree with the previous reviewer about the road running alongside the site - which is very busy and has no adequate footpath with which to access the nearby town. We were in a tent but our friends in a motorhome were placed on a gravel pitch next to the toilets that was more like a carpark than a camping pitch.
Whilst it was not problematic for us, it is worth noting that the site also appears to be used by labourers who come and go from the on-site cabins in minibuses in shifts throughout the day and night.
On a positive note - the sanitary facilities were pleasant and well kept - although there was no toilet paper provided. The nearby town is also rather lovely.

We actually used this site both in June when we made our way south and in July on our way home. In June we could use our ASCI card for 13 Euro per night in June on our return they charged 19 Euro.
The site was emptier in July than June. The ASCI book will describe the road that runs outside the site as quiet, let me assure you the traffic is heavy and Motorhomes are expected to use the gravel pitches a few yards from it.
There are two shower blocks with one shower and one toilet in each along with wash sinks and they are mixed.
On our second visit they had around 20 kids stopping which meant the showers were rather crowded. One of the owners lives in a wooden Challet by the entrance with 2 dogs that snarl and spit as you walk past.
At 7.30pm 2 lads who were tent camping parked a large HGV on one of the Motorhome pitches in front of our cab window blocking our view for the night. They then sat drinking outside their tent until after midnight. 7.30am next morning we are awoke by the HGV leaving. 8.30am the owners start up their petrol hedge cutters and start trimming the hedges around the Motorhomes.
Considering the site was empty the noise had lasted for the 24 hours we were there.
