First, I should say that my review may appear a lot less positive than others, but I have tried to be balanced.
Access from the B2160 along Lucks Lane is not encouraging - the lane is narrow, bumpy and surprisingly busy. The turn into the site again does not give a good impression, leading past some very shabby old industrial/agricultural buildings. The CL field itself is quite spacious with marked pitches and a row of hook-up bollards. There is a Portacabin containing a shower, basins and wc's which is adequate but not luxurious. Curiously I could not find any chemical toilet emptying point other than in the wc's. A tap for rinsing is outside the portacabin. However, I have seen worse. David, the owner, explained that he had been ill and apologised that the facilities were not up to his usual standards. The grass on the site was a bit longer than ideal, meaning wet feet.
An interesting feature of the site was that a pair of Little Owls nest/roost in the trees nearby.
We used the site as a base to visit several NT properties - Old Soar Barn, Ightham Mote, Knole and Chartwell. Had we had longer there were numerous other properties we could have easily visited from our base at New Barns. Overall, other than the wonderful NT places, we found the towns and villages in this part of Kent rather unattractive and lacking any scenic charm, but this is a very subjective view.

Stayed on this site many time it's lovely place the owners are fantastic, facilities well kept, it's a working farm with units rented out to some very friendly tenants, this site is a must if you just want some peace and quite, it's 100% secure with the owners living very near by, and with the farm tenants there's all ways someone around if your of out for the day, oh just one more thing just take when driving in and out, because there are children in the oast house at the entrance and the farm tenants and speeding in and out is not tolerated by the owners.

Easy to find with good signposting. A very pleasant secluded little field with the owners the other side of the trees in their bungalow. Never met them as they were away but the owner was very friendly on the phone. The grass was tended very nicely. The facilities were very nice, with messages left to wish their guests a pleasant stay. I got 2 bars 3G on the mobile phone (O2) and a full range of TV channels on the Status Aerial. Very close to the Hop Farm. My only concern would be drainage, if it rained heavy. It's clay and was a bit boggy in places even after 3 days of dry weather. I am however looking forward to returning.

This is a very nice, if somewhat rustic CL. It is left off the B2160, which is the road to Paddock Wood from the Hop Farm roundabout. The CC Sites Directory states that it is past the Wyevale Garden Centre, but this is now called Paddock Wood Garden Centre and is on the right and easily missed. If you do miss the turn to Lucks Lane, you will be able to turn at the next junction just down the road.
Would suggest (if coming from the M25),to take the A21 to Tonbridge, then the B road to Paddock Wood, A228 to the Hop Farm roundabout and then the B2160 and not as the Directory suggests. The lane to the farm is somewhat potholed and winding, but easy enough. Access to the site is a bit tight as there is a tree stump to negotiate - ok with care. The site is a small flat dry field (but it can flood in wet weather apparently). Now has a facility block (2 loos, 3 wash basins, 1 shower), price is £10 per night and not the £8 as per the Directory.
The best part - the wildlife. Loads of birds including a cuckoo and woodpecker, squirrels and 2 large sheep in an adjoining small field. Mr. Turpin owns 2 small collie type dogs who are lovely - don't feed them ANYTHING, not even bones! Oh, and a nice touch, a free barbecue to use, and plenty of wood lying about.
There is a Waitrose, Tesco Direct and other small shops in Paddock Wood, but only saw 1 pub (didn't try it).Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone are in easy reach. The coast at Hastings is about 25 miles away. Hever Castle is lovely and you can use Tesco vouchers for admission.
