 This campsite has about 50 pitches for tents and caravans. The pitches vary in size, and are what I’d call ‘free form’ – that is they are irregularly shaped and have trees etc dotted around them. The trees mean that there is lots of shade – a welcome relief from the heat, but it did make it a bit dark.
All the pitches can connect to electricity, and there are plenty of water taps about. There is one large sanitary block that held toilets, showers and washing-up sinks. So it might be a bit of a trek to the loo.
There is a laundry (2 washing machines and one dryer) and a small swimming pool. Water, frozen in 1.5l bottles, is available for cool boxes at E1.60. There is a small shop selling things like milk and beer. Bread can be ordered for collection in the morning in high season.
I didn’t notice anything in the way of children’s facilities. Reception is open in the morning, but apart from that, you might need to ring the bell (the barking dog wakes the owner up!).
The site is 2km outside the medieval hilltop town of Tourettes-sur-Loup. The town was pretty quiet – the two bars shut at 8pm (and that was when they were open, the Bar des Sports was closed during the World Cup!). Slightly further afield was Vence – which was lovely. There are also a number of walks in the immediate area.
I didn’t really like this site, I found it dark, and was bitten terribly by mosquitoes (even my usually immune DH was bitten). There were large wasp type things flying around in the sanitary block, which made me jumpy. When we suggested to the owner that there may be a wasps’ nest, he was dismissive.
Other people, however, clearly loved the place – we talked to some Dutch people who’d been coming for 35 years! Another couple had been coming for 11 years, despite the fact that they said they found the staff ‘odd and unhelpful’. Personally, we wouldn’t go back.

First experience of camping in France. Peaceful location. The site is quite large but it is well spread out with lots of trees that break the site up. Good facilities and a swimming pool. Owners were helpful especially as we did not speak French very well at that time.
Small shop on site sold essentials and bread was made to order ready for the morning. Lovely village about a 20 min walk away (owner gave us directions along a footpath avoiding the main road) and we even walked the back way to Vence which took about an hour.
We would go back to this site.
