In a quiet way this is a gem. It’s a peaceful spot, part leisure centre, part municipal park. Very few townspeople use it.
There are 3 complete washroom units with toilet, shower and basin in each - they are kept very clean and well lit and warm. In the toilet’s vestibule there is a washing-up sink. Externally grey and black water waste plus drinking-water fill points.
There are hard standing and grass pitches and each of the 8 or so power bollards has 4 plug-in points.
It’s a steep walk up to town via the ginnels that go up through the streets of houses, but there is a shop on the estate across the new river bridge behind the site (we didn’t use it though).
£17. 33 a night is a decent price, but the extra £10 per night for electricity is unbelievably steep. I’m going to work on this one.
We cycled along the A707 to Galashiels to see the Great Tapestry of Scotland, well worth it even if you are not set aflame by needlework, this tour de force might just impress you.
Recommended.

Slightly odd place - essentially the campsite is in the grounds of the leisure centre. Staff were friendly and bathrooms clean, but there was a loud noise from the swimming pool all night (some kind of pump or generator). Fine for a single night if needed, but wouldn't recommend for a holiday.

Stayed here for 1 night when we were walking the borders abbeys way. At first I thought it was closed as there was no tents, caravans or motorhomes. The campsite is at the rear of Selkirk leisure centre. I parked up and walked around to leisure centre reception, the girl on reception was very helpful and told me the campsite and leisure centre were closing in a few days (6/5/16) until September 2016 for refurbishment. Cost for 1 night hardstanding with electric hook up was £17. 50. The toilet blocks were large but a bit run down so should be really nice after the refurbishment. It was really strange to be parked in a car park with people parking next to you going to the leisure centre and no other caravans or motorhomes to be seen we had the place to ourselves. The hardstanding pitches are the car park there are no markings so it was just a case of park where you want. It's about a ten minute walk uphill to the centre of Selkirk from the campsite.

Myself, two daughters, baby and dog stayed two nights at this site, as we were visiting my other daughter in Galashiels. Its a lovely area, wonderful walking and cycling, some shops in Selkirk, and a full range of shops in Galashiels.
There was previously only one review of this site, which did not mention the key fact that this is not a campsite, in the normal use of the word, but camping within a public park. We pitched our tents on a verge adjacent to the car park.
A large part of the park was taken up by the Rugby Pitch, which was in use on the Saturday morning. All the areas where you can pitch your tent are adjacent to the car park, or adjacent to public footpaths.
Our tents and possessions were safe, but hearing revellers (not connected with the tents or camper vans) returning home at night was disconcerting.
Unlike the other reviewer, we did not think it particularly cheap (£40.30p for our two tents) but we did take advantage of the free swimming offered.
Make sure that the person booking you in at Reception writes 'free swimming' on your receipt. When we went for a swim on Saturday morning (pool only open 9-1 Saturday and Sunday mornings)the person at Reception said that she thought the free swimming had been stopped, but fortunately, it had been written on my receipt.
On the plus site, the facilities were good, clean and plentiful toilets and showers, and a good washing up room. Both the staff members we spoke to were very pleasant, cheerful and extremely helpful.
So, all in all, a distinctly unusual experience. The location was convenient for us, and it worked out no problem, but it would have been good to know in advance that we were camping in a public park!

Huge site right beside the river with free choice of where to pitch your tent. All the shops, chip shops and cafes you could possibly want just a stroll up the town.
As much swimming as you can fit in during your stay is included in the very cheap site fee. The reception for the site is located within the swimming pool so make sure you can arrive when it is open. We arrived and could not find any contact information for obtaining the security code for the toilets. Oh dear!
Don't forget your mallet as the ground is firm.
This is a good stop over site for us as we travel up and down to visit family.
