Great value camping at £10 per night for tent and two people. The field is large and great view from the top. Really good location for being able to walk into Swanage, as parking in there can be tricky sometimes. It took us about 20 minutes to walk in. Great breakfast in the cafe attached to the campsite and we also went into the Putlake Farm and soft play area (at the entrance to the camping field), which was good - a super large soft play barn was a bonus! Everyone really friendly. Two pubs within 5-7 minute walk from the field too and the camping field is right by a footpath that takes you to the coastal path, which was brilliant. All in all, great people, great location for town/walking/climbing etc and great value. We'll go back next year.

We were due to be camping in the week at one of the bigger sites but we wanted to come down early. They couldn't take us and the forecast was for sun so we decided to come here. We arrived, pitched up and that was that. We really enjoyed our stay. We had loads of space around us but still felt close enough to meet other people. The ground was great for pitching. The showers and the toilets are fine. Better than some not as good as others but for the money you pay we were very pleased. I am quite sure that we'll be back here again when the sun comes back out :)

Having rejected a well known campsite also in Swanage (as did a number of fellow campers that weekend) we stumbled across this gem of a campsite. Our host was very welcoming and quite happily accepted 11 of us in 3 tents for the Jubilee weekend without booking - there is no booking! We found a fairly flat pitch and settled in. We were invited to forage in the bushes for a fire pit which we did and found and made a fire as is allowed if off the ground.
The showers were hot and clean, even if they only last 3 mins. The loos were cleaned each day, loo roll checked at the other end of the day, lots of hot water in the basins along with hand soap, but no towels.
We visited the tea rooms and they serve a very good full english breakfast and lots of cakes. We didn't try the ice cream because it was far too cold!
We also made full us of the Adventure farm (no discounts for campers) and played for many an hour. The kids loved seeing the tent from the tractor ride! The grown ups weren't so impressed to be woken up by the farm yard animals but they added to the stay just by being there!
This is a rather basic campsite but we only require space to let the kids run free and this offers that in bucket loads. We may even try to fit in another trip when they open up again for the summer holidays.

We visited this site in August. No booking required, and we were a big group. Welcome was very friendly and extremely helpful. One of our party had car trouble and we were given phone numbers and local advice, very helpful.
Stayed two nights and had plenty of room in the field for us and the few other tents on the site. It is on a slope but we found a fairly level area for all our 7 tents.
Toilets were clean and well stocked. Showers by token is a little tricky, never knowing when the water will stop! But the showers were clean and plenty of hot water.
Hot water at the washing up point would have been helpful.
We went to the local pub and had dinner on the first night, very good. Again they coped really well with our big party of 26. The food was all served quickly and was really lovely and reasonably priced.
The horses in the field next door were well loved by our younger members and kept them entertained for ages.
All in all a lovely, friendly site with excellent staff.

I had arrived on spec without booking to enjoy a much needed break in Swanage and make the most of the coastal path walks to unwind. I was a single tent and a single traveller and had already found most of the other reasonable sites full. I spotted a roadside sign and the entrance in Langton Matravers - and found an absolute gem!
Made to feel very welcome and given a full run-down of the facilities on arrival. The host was really friendly, and after a long days drive this was exactly the welcome and information needed.
Whilst the site is considered basic by some, I found everything I needed. Hot water showers - by token, but did find that I tended to use 2 tokens. These were available to buy at the shop. The cafe/tea room provided hearty breakfasts and great cake!
And the washing and toilet facilities were basic, but kept very clean and tidy. Rubbish was emptied daily and the site overall was well kept.
There is a slope on the site, but on the whole flat areas can be found easily. Plenty of space - choose your own pitch.
Whilst I didn't visit the petting farm, I thought it was wonderful to feel part of the countryside and be awoke by the animals - set the day up nicely.
Local advice on where to eat and visit, and walking routes to take was also very welcome, and on the night of my arrival, I found a great pub right next door with great food and a live blues band on! Great selection of beers too!
Swanage itself is only 2 miles away, and made for a nice walk into town - I also recommend the Globe pub near the Fish n'Chip shop on the way into the town - who provided a great sunday roast and put the Grand Prix on the TV for me on request!
All in all Putlake provided me a great base to walk the coastal paths and visit some fantastic places, were a welcoming, professionally managed site with just the right facilities for me and at a very reasonable and affordable price. I recommend them to anyone.

I stayed at this site for 4 nights with my two children, my friend and her daughter and it was fantastic. We felt welcome from the minute we met the Gentleman. The facilities were very clean and tidy and were cleaned everyday we were there. The showers were warm straight away and brilliant not like some Ive used that are just a trickle of water, they we much better than I expected.
The site itself was very clean, tidy and quite, and everyone was well spaced and so you still had privacy and space and were not disturbed by the neighbouring campers.
The Cafe was lovely and welcoming and the food was cooked perfectly and served with a smile and cheerful welcome by the lovely ladies that work there.
We didn't get chance to visit the animals but hope to at a later date, although we could see some from the campsite, and the children loved the horse in the field next to the camping field.
The town wasn't too far away, and had everything we needed.
This was my first time camping with my children and they loved it. We will definitely be back and will definitely stay here again without a doubt. I have rated 10 out of 10 on everything because honestly hand on heart I couldn't find any faults what so ever.

Arrived mid August to find a quiet camp site with 15 other tents. The field is on a slope but managed to find a fairly flat pitch on the edge of the field. Lovely views of the downs.
No electric hook ups. There are 3 toilets no soap or hand towels but plenty of toilet roll. The floor became quite slippery and muddy. Two showers which need a token 50p for 3 minutes, did not use the showers so can not comment.
There is one outside sink for washing up (no hot water). For £15 a night a very basic site but we really enjoyed our visit. People friendly.
Shire horse for children to stroke. Very quiet at night except for a donkey which we did not mind the sound. Farm next door but did not visit. Tea room providing breakfasts.
Walked into Swanage about 2 miles. Plenty of super markets. Local village post office selling milk, bread etc. Also there is a lovely play area for the children, 5 minutes walk.
Not a lot for children at camp site but all my children need is a field and a foot ball.
