Stopped here a couple of times - great campsite for St Jean de Luz and Biarritz or for day trips to the mountains or across the border into Spain. A couple of downsides first. The coast road traffic is horrendous (but unavoidable). The biggest fright for us though is always the site entrance with a steep slope on a sharp bend that has our high roof van leaning precariously. Take it slowly! Once on site though the pitches are generally spacious and the sanitaires are in very good condition. Staff, both at reception and in the small bar/ cafe are great. We really enjoy staying here and will keep going back

On arrival we had set Lat/Long into TomTom and followed it blindly, it took us down a road to a car park where TomTom said 'turn sharp left'. It was an almost 360 turn with no mention of a campsite so we carried on into the car park but on turning round saw the site at the top of that track. We later noticed a sign further back up the road on the left giving the campsite name and pointing to the entrance we used. As someone has ready said, the turn is sharp but reasonably wide and there were several caravans and very large motor homes on site.
On arrival reception was closed for lunch but a notice on the door, in French said 'find a pitch' so a friendly French man indicted to us.
We got a lovely pitch beside the sea separated by a 5ft hedge and could hear the sea crashing on the rocks sometimes quite loudly and there is easy access to the beach from the site entrance.
When reception opened we were greeted by a very friendly young lady who spoke good English and were given local information. Beware that while we were there they did not take cards, cash only.
Pitches vary greatly in size but there are quite a few largish pitches available. The site is very well looked after with everywhere clean and tidy. The toilet blocks are unisex and are very clean. Electricity is10amps but some pitches would require a longer then 25m lead so check where the supply is before setting up. WiFi is good and free. There were several bars close to the site but were mainly closed while we were there and there is a small shop selling baguettes close by. There are 3 supermarkets a short drive from the site.
St Jean de Luz is an interesting harbour town and is about 30 min walk or there is a cycle path. Also from the site there is a coastal walk northward and also again a cycle route. The whole area seems to be a Mecca for surfing. We were there in early Oct using an ACSI off peak season discount card and the site was quite full most of the time.
Defiantly a site we would happily return to.

Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.
Fancied a few days by the sea so came back here as we had enjoyed it last time.
Am very happy to see the sanitaries below reception have been renewed. They now have a full complement of toilets, showers and basins, including disabled and a free hairdryer. Another room has a washer and dryer, laundry sink and ironing table, iron available at reception, and further along are washing up sinks. All were cleaned every morning.
The block further along has been incorporated into the cafe bar building, and the block on the other side has new lights.
We chose an individual pitch away from the sea side, but were happy to find we had a sea view, and could hear the breakers hitting the beach.
The beach seems to be cleaned regularly of seaweed, there was a large crowd watching the tractors working in the dark one evening!
The coastal path has been incorporated into the local cycleway, so you can walk or cycle into town by following the signs. In the other direction, the road has been unblocked for car access, but the sign does say for access only.
And by going back to the main road and turning left, you soon come to Lidl, this main road is always busy and queueing into town.
The site gives ACSI discount earlier than others nearby, without the discount the price is eye wateringly expensive.

Reviewers - mature couple with car, tent, and bikes
There are lots of campsites in St Jean de Luz, and many of them are quite near the sea. We chose this one by chance as it's one of the nearest to the town centre, and right on the sea front. It's about a quarter of a mile from the main road, there is a site on the right, and this one is on the left. The entrance is a sharp left turn on an incline, so might be a bit tricky, there were caravans on the site though. Maybe they turned in the public beach carpark just beyond.
Most of the pitches are off a central drive, some are in clusters, others have dividing bushes. There are also some pitches on a lower terrace which may be flatter than the slight slope higher up, but the pitches were nice and grassy. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful.
One side of the site borders the coastal footpath, there may be a sea view from a van, but there is no access to the path from the site, you have to go down to the entrance.
I think the coastal path might lead into town, but we cycled along the road, about 15 mins. The town is pleasant enough with a small harbour, beach, the usual seaside amenities and shops, and a backdrop of the Pyrenees.
There are 3 toilet blocks on the site, all seem to be unisex, one is beneath the reception where there are limited facilities very much in need of updating, with another room of showers which was shut when we were there. There are another 2 blocks, one we used had more up to date facilities, but no lights in the showers so you had to shower in the daylight showing through the roof windows. All seemed to be in a clean condition.
There is a shop on site, with a bar and snacks, and also one on the site opposite.
There is public access to a sandy beach at the entrance to the campsite, also a public carpark and bar/restaurant. This area is popular with surfers, and along the coastal road away from the town are beaches with surf schools. This is a no through road, to access them by car you would need to drive back along the main road.
The price was surprisingly moderate.
