Booked online by reading reviews and despite panicking slightly as we drove into Agde we have had a great time. Caution try not to arrive between 12. 30 -3pm because they close for lunch. We had to unhitch the caravan and leave it in the car park because there wasn't room for others to get past us. Apart from that slight niggle the site itself has large private pitches and the staff are really friendly. It's about a 10 -15 minute stroll to the beach/harbour with some good cafes and restaurants. We were the only English people there and it felt like a lovely family resort. There is a lot to see in the area and they really try hard to put on various entertainments throughout the small towns. The broquant in Marseillan was great with the streets closed off and not just the usual stuff you normally see. I could have happily taken a large french dresser home but sadly we didn't have enough room. The beaches are fine sand and very clean and even in July they were busy but not packed. Would definitely visit the area again
We arrived at this campsite unannounced and unplanned and what a nice little find. We had originally planned to stay further north but the weather in France at the end of June was so terrible (it was around the time of the floods) we decided to head for the sun.
The campsite is very well placed being right next to the river with the cycle path. Turn left and you are only a short walk from the beach and also the nearest market and turn right and in a mile or so you are in the town of old agde. This is a relatively small and friendly site (compared with some of the holiday villages along the same strip) but it has everything you need for a great holiday.
There is a snack bar, bike hire, swimming pool, communal bbq and very clean toilet and shower facilities with lots of hot water. Close by the beach area has a selection of nice restaurants and a selection of food and wine shops. There is also a supermarket within a couple of miles drive. The beautiful town of agde also has some very nice restaurants and bars along the river and is only a short cycle ride away.
The snack bar does a good selection of reasonably priced homecooked food with something for everyone - pizza and chips for the kids (largest you can get a kilo of fries!) and a few local dishes for the adults. It also sells beer and wine which you can takeaway which is convenient but not the cheapest as you would expect. It sells a few essential supplies but I wouldn't rely on it. This is also where you can order your fresh bread and croissant for the morning.
Pitches were reasonably sized with small hedges in between for privacy. We were given a map of the site and they marked on which pitches were available and then we could wander around and pick which ones we liked the look of. Pitches have a varying amount of sun or shade depending on what you want. We were quite close to the swimming pool and games court.
The only negative I would say is there was some noise in the morning from the fishing vessel which was moored in the river close by but I think it would have been quieter at the other end of the site.
All in all we were very pleased with our choice the owners were very friendly and helpful and the campsite has a nice atmosphere without feeling too commercial. The best thing is the location being by the river and the beach and town it has options for everyone
