Have recently returned from Rhyd-y-ferwig, we stayed on the CS site, but there was a holiday meet in a near by field held by the camping & caravanning club. The owner welcomed us as we drove up the lane to the field & his sense of humour made us laugh straight away! The field was ideal for us, quiet with the most beautiful rural views. There are a couple of toilets and one shower(20p) with a free hairdryer, these were situated back down the lane near the farm house. We walked to Newquay a couple of times down a farm lane & road, was ok down, but a bit hilly on return but the weather and views were glorious! Some on site walked down & had a taxi back, we were lucky to see 7 dolphins in the bay. Its a lovely site & area to visit, we travelled (by car) on the country roads to cardigan & found lovely bays, Cwmtudi, llangrannog & Mwnt. We don't have small children, but our neighbors did, & they enjoyed playing on the camping field safely.
Cant wait to return soon !

We booked and stayed at this Camping & Caravanning certificated site for 10 nights as the price was very competitive in comparison to others sites in the area. At £6.00 per unit per night our expectations were running low but just how wrong we were because our first impression was totally different from what we expected. Upon arrival at this remote location we were met by the site owners who offerred a short but very friendly chat and made us feel most welcome to say the least.
The owners obviously take pride in this small well kept field as it was well maintained as the hedgerows were well trimmed with the grass kept short and respectfully had no loose cuttings scattered either which made the camp site a complete pleasure to stay at. The fresh water point was only a few yards away with a permanent fixed hose and concrete base to stand the water barrel on. This base was well thought of too which is ideal for those damp and wet days in order to stop the barrel sinking in the mud creating a large muddy puddle that you often find on many sites. The 'Elsan' CDP (chemical disposal point) was about 300 yards down the road track near the entrance so it is recommended to use either your Wastemaster, a trolley or even your car if you have any disabilities. There is a basic single toilet located adjacent to the CDP too but this is mainly for campers that have no sanitation.
There are no EHU (electric hook up) provisions on site which didn't bother us as we used a generator occasionally to boost the leisure battery.
Due to this site being about half a mile away from the main road into New Quay, there obviously is no traffic noise which makes the site very peaceful in it's own respect and the perfect location for peace and quiet. We had the most perfect relaxed holiday and without doubt we would return again in the future.
We finally wish to thank the site owners Mr. & Mrs. D. Lewis for the kind welcome received and for a pleasurable and enjoyable stay.
