Camping, shepherd huts and furnished bell tents at the award winning Gaggle of Geese pub in rural Dorset. Village location ten miles from Sherborne and Dorchester, just half an hour`s drive from beaches and the Jurassic Coast
Five acres of gardens (winner of notable Best Pub Garden in Britain award) with a field set aside for camping (20 pitches).
Pub gardens include crazy golf, ice-cream shack, double decker playbus, pygmy goats, tipi marquee.
Make the most of the pub during your stay! Lunch & dinner served - booking recommended. Regular events, live music, quizzes, crafting workshops and more!
Our shepherd huts are open for bookings throughout the year.
For camping and bell tents the campsite is open between Easter and to September
Camping:
Our camping field is an ideal spot to pitch a tent or park up in a camper-van.
Our additional converted shepherd hut & horsebox offer showers & toilets. We also provide a `washing-up shack` with cold/hot water and power sockets.
We aim for our pub to be welcoming to everyone. Our Play Bus, crazy golf, friendly pygmy goats and free activities will keep the kids happy
Shepherd Huts:
Our three Shepherd Huts are made by the local craftsmen (two of which by the Plankbridge company and part-funded by a grant from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development).
All three huts come with bedding & towels provided. And are equipped with crockery, kettle, toaster and fridge.
Enjoy the food, drink and company in the pub before star-gazing around your own firepit
Gaggle Bell Tents:
We have opened up bookings for our new Gaggle Bell Tents - forget about bringing your own tent .... stay in comfort in our 5 metre bell tents complete with beds, bedding, power, outdoor seating, hot water-bottles and a firepit! Sleeping up to four people (double bed and two singles).
Hot showers and flushing toilets in our nearby bathroom shepherd hut and converted horsebox.
Dine at the Gaggle:
Our food is made in-house by Simon & our Chef Team. Using locally sourced produce, our menu focuses on pub classics and is printed daily. Sensibly priced so you can eat with us regularly; example menus below. Also pick from our bar snacks board, lunchtime sandwiches and Kids Menu.
Dine alfresco from our garden wood-fired airstream oven at weekends during the summer.
Or treat to yourself to a bespoke Gaggle Burger eat-in or takeaway
Nearby Attractions
There are lots of places for walks both short and lengthy in the surrounding Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A popular ramble from the pub is the four-mile route to the Cerne Abbas Giant
For kids pick from The Dinosaur Museum (20 minutes), Monkey World (half an hour), the Tank Museum (half an hour), the Sea Life adventure park (40 minutes), Farmer Palmer`s Farm Park (40 minutes)… or head to the coast for beach days in Weymouth (40 minutes), watersports at Lulworth Cove (45 minutes) or fossil hunts in Kimmeridge (50 minutes).
