Westgate Camping Site is a small site set in upper Weardale (area of outstanding natural beauty). Immerse yourself in nature with picturesque walking trails right on your doorstep and explore the breathtaking landscapes of Weardale.
We have 16 hardstandings and 8 Tent pitches. Our pitches provide ample space for you to pitch your tent, park your caravan, or set up campervan.
We offer amenities that cater to your needs, including clean washroom facilities, and access to stunning walking trails
Adjacent to the pitches is a high standard toilet/shower block and separate disabled toilet. There are also washing up facilities and chemical disposal point.
The site provides a fully licensed onsite shop, launderette and childrens play area.
The river wear runs past the site and there is a ford where children can play (cars also use the ford so children must be supervised)

Prices per night are as follows:
Caravan £25
Caravan with Awning £27
Motorhome/Campervan £25
Tents (including Trailer Tents) are charged per person per night.
NB: There is also a £20 deposit to pay per tent/family, returnable on departure.
Adults £9.00
Children (up to 15 Years) £5.00
There are 8 hook-up points available for tents (POA)
There is a small co-op in Westgate for necessities and the Hare and Hounds Pub renowned for their Sunday Carvery.
Nearby Attractions
Westgate is situated in Weardale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Offering beautiful views, lovely walks by the river Wear where fishing enthusiasts can fish (permit available).
There is an outdoor swimming pool in Stanhope which is 10 minutes away (5 miles) the largest village in Weardale where you will also find some shops, pubs, take aways, local amenities, and the Dales Centre with tourist information.
Killhope Wheel and Lead Mine and The Weardale Museum are nearby.
Local buses run from Stanhope to Cowshill with connections to Crook and Bishop Auckland.
