Leave the A55 at junction 9, then at roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A487 for Caernarfon continue through Caernarfon following the A487 to Porthmadog. Travel through Bontnewydd, Pant Glas and Bryncir. When leaving Bryncir turn right signposted Criccieth. After approximately 4 miles enter Criccieth. At the crossroads turn left towards Porthmadog & Pentrefelin. Approximately 2 miles Mynydd Du can be found on the left, a large entrance leading up to the park.

Porthmadog is home to the Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway, the world famous Italianate Village, Port Meirion is just 15 minutes drive away. Black Rock Sands at Morfa Bychan is just 20 minutes drive and boasts 2 miles of beautiful beach and sand dunes. Ideal for watersport enthusiasts. Criccieth with its imposing castle has a variety of small shops, restaurants and pubs. The harbour town of Pwllheli is just 10miles, with its marina, a variety of shops and open air market on Wednesday/Sunday. Boat trips across the bay to see the Whales & Dolphins are available during the summer season. The Osprey breeding centre is also within a 30 minute drive Golf and fishing are both within a 10 minute drive.
