Large campsite not easy to find if you go please don't follow signs to beacon fell view country park as we did very very steep hills. Site on different levels so not good for the less active toilets and disposal points not nice. Play area nice and views are great, the was no take away staff all very nice.

We go caravanning in a small group several times a year, and I must say how impressed we all are with the views from Beacon Fell... although the pitches were a little close together, the varying levels provided some fantastic Countryside views..... & only an hour from our Wigan home !
Children always enjoy their stay....with a great heated indoor pool area & a well equipped play area. From what I recall, the toilets / showers & Chemical Toilet points were in dire need of updating and had no heating to any of them. The small shop seems to have a decent stock of many things you may need.
Last time we visited, two families in tents were chopping up pallets of wood for an open fire, and went the whole weekend unchallenged by any security.... Not sure that we would go back later this year ! We also enjoy visiting a local pub a mile down the road ( Brown Cow ? ) which offers good pub grub at good prices The site has a great large superb warm indoor swimming pool and adults only jacuzzi, clubhouse with kiddies entertainment disco etc then bingo for adults

Spent 3 nights over Easter at this site. Really enjoyed it. Free swimming pool was nice. Good outdoor play area. & soft play area. Great Clubhouse children welcome.
Our only problems were: the pitches were too small and too close together. It was virtually impossible to fit caravan, awning and car into one space. Which meant cars were parked all along the roadside, which felt a bit dangerous and crowded. Also there are no signs as you enter the site. If you do take a wrong turn it is virtually impossible to turn - as our new found friends (hi Jayne & Mark - if you read this) found out.
Some lovely villages to visit. Dunsop Bridge was nice to feed the ducks and have an ice cream. Will definitely return.

Just come back, the kids loved it and want to go back. Good points: They had a kids club which is well run. The swimming pool is clean. The entertainment was good. Excellent for biking and walking. Bad points. Only thing was the lack of resturant, they had a burger van but was limited. The pitches are not level had to jack up the back on bricks.

Visited this site as a newby to camping. Never even been in a tent before. Found the ground to be very hard to put tent pegs in and bent most of them, but I loved the place, we were the only tent there at that time and we had taken the two dogs so naturally we were concerned about large numbers of peeps but it was brill would definitely go again, brill walks helpful staff, peace and quiet well when the kids in school. Didnt get chance to try the pool as didnt want to leave the dogs in the tent but will go back in caravan and give it a go

Found this site wonderful for a weekend away. Weather was awful the rain was constant for 2 days and yet the pitches were great, no mud. Pitches a mixture of grass and gravel. The caravan pitches were on 3 tiers quite private trees in front and behind you. The play area outside is really good and my 4 year old loved the indoor play area with ball pools, climbing frames and slides. Family bar area had on entertainment for kiddies until 8.30pm and then the entertainment for adults took over. Pool tables, amusements and video games were in the same room as family bar cornered off by a few steps and a small fence. This is ideal as kids can go in there alone but parents can still see them. They can't get outside without passing by their parents either which is a good idea. The pool was fantastic the kids loved it in there.
The only negative is that a small cafe or restaurant would be useful. At the moment there is only a small burger van and though the food is very nice it's a limited menu. On the plus side though this food can be taken into the bar in the evenings. The bar area is no smoking by the way this will be a plus with some families and not with others.
All in all a great site with good clean toilets and showers which are not far from any caravan pitch.

We couldn't have picked a better site for our first camping trip for five years. The site wasn't too big and the surrounding countryside was great for dog walking. The kids were out playing the whole time we were there and we felt they were safe. There is a shop and food wagon which were basic but adequate. The club house and bars were smoke free and clean. The pool was brilliant, a real bonus. The site provides entertainment for the kids free of charge, which we tapped into on Sunday morning while we packed up - which was great for the kids.
The only slight negative is the shower block, although clean, needed a bit ofimprovement and they weren't very warm which is a must when you've got young kids.

We feel much the same as the other reviewers - a tough place for campers! This would be a site to return to for its lovely pool, great children's entertainment, friendly staff, well equipped shop and lovely views but the placing of the tent field was not done by someone with any experience in camping! As previously said, it was at the top of poorly lit, steep steps with the toilet, water tap, dishwashing area and everything else on site at the bottom of the steps and continuing hill slope. Not at all practical for anybody with children and not in their peak of fitness. We found it hard going and a constant worry as one of our children did happen to fall through the inadequate hand rail and rolled down through the nettles beside the steep steps. Tourers and static caravanners would enjoy a holiday here. We will not return with our tent!

August 2005 I visited this site with my girlfriend and two children aged 5 and 2 camping in not brilliant weather. The tent field is quite small and uneven, a little work to level it out a bit would be nice. Some people were walking dogs through the field but I did not see any fouling. Electric hook-ups are provided in the price but are limited so you may not get one in busy times. You would need to take a 25M extension to ensure you could reach the points too as there is only 2x 4 way outlets serving the field.
The shop and food bar are limited but provide the basics. Better shopping and a much wider choice of food are available in Longridge just a few minutes away by car. The club house served reasonably priced drinks and the entertainment was quite adequate except on Jennie’s night off :)
Toilets were clean-ish (you can't expect them to run around after everyone flushing toilets and rinsing sinks constantly!) but were not really much in demand as the site seemed fairly quiet for campers and tourers.
The pool was excellent and well worth paying a little extra for. Overall we had a good time, the site is suitable for someone wanting a few drinks at night without the boisterous behaviour of bigger places. You can also settle for a quieter time too.
