Just returned today from a three night bank holiday weekend here. The First and last. Trying to find it was the start of the nightmare. It is not very well signposted and after ending up down a country road and having to turn round with the caravan in tow we eventually found an entrance, that said 'No Entry'. We went up the road a couple hundred yards and eventually found it. A sign by the toilets told touring caravans to park there and report to reception but didn't point you in the direction of it. I had to ask a workman who directed me through a narrow walkway, but eventually I found it. The reception when you find it is fine and you can see through to the pool which also looked fine. A refundable deposit of £5 is required for the toilet key and a very pleasant young chap went through everything with me.

We found our pitch, well it was far too small. Talk about being on top of one another! It was a hike to the toilets which in fairness were fine, until you got a shower, I've been to some sites were the showers weren't hot enough but never one that were too hot to stand under with no temperature control.

On Friday night we went down to the complex for a drink, on the literature that the young chap gave us it mentioned an adults only bar. Being in our 40's/50's we thought that that was the place for us. We walked in through an unfinished bar/games room to the adults only bar that must have had about 12 kids in and it wasn't them that were making the noise it was the adults who were all trying to out shout one another. The prices in there were not too bad though, average, and one of the barmen, I think his name was Clarry was very hospitable. The entertainment was ok but not 'paid turns' as in previous reviews. One night was a quiz which you couldn't take part in for all the adults shouting. The second was a race night which seemed ok and the last night was a Karaoke. As stated on a previous review there is a burger bar and a shop also on site but we used neither so can't comment on them. There is some building work going on above the site, looks like holiday lets or something which at about 1 o'clock in the morning managed to attract some 'boy racers' who were let's just say not doing their cars much good and I bet they had a few bumps in them in the morning.

The surrounding area of the site and some of the local pubs are second to none and we had a fabulous meal in the 'Duke William' not far from the site and a bar snack in the 'White Bull' but found out that there are actually two pubs within close proximity with this name, the one we were in was the furthest one away from the site on the road going back to the M6. We went in the other one, but just for a drink. In the village there is a Booth's supermarket, a Somerfield and a Co-op as well as several fish and chip shops, chinese and indians.

Being just an hour away from home we thought this may be the ideal site for us, a bit of life. How wrong can you be.

Try it yourself though and see what you think, you may like it but I won't be returning.

We visited Beacon Fell in April as part of a sun holiday deal.

The actual park was half dug up as they were doing repairs to the pipes.

The swimming pool was ok and the gym we found ok as well. The only problem was that there was no food available apart from fast food outlet at the back of the club which sold burgers and chips.

We had to go into the village to buy food and even telephoned for a take away pizza one night.

Also the entertainment was ok but the weekend we went on was meant to be a soul weekend but there was only one act on the saturday night and on the sunday night the bar had sold out of some of its drinks.

I would not go again to Beacon Fell as I like somewhere where you can buy hot food and not have to travel out to the village to eat.

We have just stayed at Beacon Fell in a static having been before in a tent 18 months ago. The price was very reasonable for an almost end of season time and I have to say, the van was immaculate and very fresh when we finally got the keys at 4.25pm(!)

The overall impression of this site is one of tiredness however. It is rough around the edges and is in dire need of some t.L.C. and some re-investment. The site grounds are scruffy and don't give a good impression.
The club is again tired and kids club useless. My two were expecting some disco type music and some games but all we got was a half hearted OAP playing adult songs and saying nothing! Apart from that, the bars are very good and staff excellent. There is also a soft play area which is open through the evening while the club is in full swing. The amusements are more than enough for kids who want to spend their pocket money.
The site has a burger van style catering outlet which is perfectly adequate but the site would benefit enormously from a proper built cafe. The shop is small but has the basics. ( A Co-Op style shop is just 2 mins away if you're struggling). On a very positive note, the swimming pool is fantastic. Well worth visiting and is suitable for the least water confident child. Very enjoyable part of the stay.

Blackpool and Preston are within easy reach and a visit to Beacon Fell itself for a walk in the woods is highly recommended. Just a last note, please be aware that the van only had heating in the lounge so pack your bedsocks, pj's and fleecy dressing gowns to avoid a very chilly sleep at this time of year!

Stayed for two nights in a tourer at end of October after this site was strongly recommended by a friend. Poor weather forced us to remain indoors, although not altogether a bad thing as we wouldn’t have sat out had the weather been good. The site was affected by litter- bottles, beer cans, chocolate bar wrappers, etc were all over the place. Grass hadn’t been cut for weeks and some paths completely covered by leaves. This site isn’t picturesque (unusually we didn’t get the camera out once) with no flowerbeds, and although our pitch was hardstanding, in reality it was a random blend of gravel, grass, puddles and litter. The pitches are terraced and ours was slightly sloping- I made the mistake of taking the handbrake off the van before coupling to the car and almost lost it onto the terrace below! We were treated to a ‘Kaiser Chiefs’ concert one night until midnight thanks to one of the other tourers on site and expect a bit of noise after midnight as people make their way from the bar. Par for the course on a site like this I suppose.

The shower block was dated but very clean. Radio 1 permanently playing within. The showers are very hot, although there are signs warning of this! Showers with a better temperature for children can be found in the pool area. The toilets were always very clean. Soap and toilet paper are provided, although the hand dryers are a bit hit and miss. You will need a key for the toilet block, £5 deposit required.

A new Reception building leads to the pools (the highlight of our stay) comprising of one baby pool and a second pool suitable for children in a pleasant family-friendly area. Both pools were clean and warm, although not deep enough for serious swimmers. Plenty of seats and tables around the pool to keep your clothing as there didn’t appear to be any lockers. There was a small sauna in the pool area and also a small gym next to the reception area.

There is an indoor play area that was popular with small children. It was clean and appeared safe enough and although it was advertised as 75p per half hour per child, I don’t know any child that had paid and as the bar area was two rooms away so I’m not sure how the staff knew who had paid and who hadn’t. I would suggest that you would be very unlucky if you ended up being charged!

There is a small shop and an adjacent burger bar. Both take credit/debit cards. The burger bar has a vast menu of paninis and hot sandwiches as well as the usual burger and chips. I didn’t try the chocolate & walnut panini, although I was tempted!

There is a large bar/country club/family room complex with bingo and cabaret performances. It was very busy during our stay. The children’s entertainment provided looked a bit ad-hoc and wasn’t much to shout about, we have seen far better on other sites. There are a lot of arcade and ‘grabber’ machines around the place. The site obviously has a problem with discarded chewing gum as there were a number of laminated sheets of A4 paper attached to walls with ‘stick your used gum here’. I didn’t find the sights of used chewing gum stuck to a wall particularly attractive. The entertainment complex was otherwise clean and tidy.

There is an outdoor climbing frame, slide and swings for small children and swings and a zip line for older kids. They were all in reasonable condition but there was direct access from the play area to a big pile of broken pallets that appeared to be stored for bonfire night. Next to that was a huge pile of rubbish and garden waste. A couple of open fields away are two reservoirs. I would therefore strongly recommend you supervise your children on this play area!

Longridge is a pleasant village and well worth a look. Opposite the petrol station is a hardware shop that exchanges gas bottles. There are Booths and Somerfield supermarkets as well as cafes and a bakery in the village.

The staff on this site were all very friendly. Although this isn’t a bad site, there isn’t enough here to tempt us back so despite coming here after a recommendation we shan’t be returning.

Broke with tradition and tried a static caravan.
The caravan was the coldest one that we have ever stayed in, although we should have guessed when we entered the van as the fire was left on by the cleaners!. It was not in the cleanest of conditions, it smelled of cigarette smoke intermingled with a foist smell. We managed to blank the smells with a air freshener. We had a marvellous view from the lounge area of the caravan lounge opposite as it was only one metre away from our window, which proved awkward for ourselves and the family opposite. The site is like a building site, the grassed ? areas were pathetic, as was the attitude of some of the staff, and it was a case of dodge the pot holes. The entertainment was a lively game of bingo with approximately 15 players. The site is poorly signposted, and on looking at the tourer area and facilities, we were pleased that we did not take our own van. On leaving I was asked why we were leaving early, and the lady did not seem one bit surprised by my answers, which leads me to think that this is probably a regular occurrence.

Just got back from beacon fell view caravan and camping park. We went a few years ago so decided to go again. This time we were on the tent Field with about 5 other families. Ground a bit uneven but nothing drastic.

The showers were cold for 2 out the 3 days we were there. I reported it to reception but they knew about it due to being a faulty boiler and the steps down from the field could due with a rethink. No good for people with walking difficulties little enough light.

Steep steps etc.Oh and thanks to the kind people who tried to put there tent on the Field about 5.00 this morning without paying so I'm told.Waking everybody up with there shouting and foul language. Its folks like you who give us campers a bad name and big hand to the security man who got shut of them.

I probably wont be returning in a hurry again but don't let this review put you off. Try it before you knock it. The club and pool make up for the little hitches.

We stayed here after end of May bank holiday we stayed on a touring pitch so was not the best ground to pitch a tent on. Although level was plenty stones in ground & loose gravel on surface but with patience & a big hammer got the pegs in. We got a special offer only paid £7 a night plus needed a fiver deposit for shower block key. Shower block about 200m from our pitch one of furthest away, facilities were clean enough & plentiful. Lots to do on site including big pool play area amusements evening entertainment shop & take away all reasonably priced. Being realistic for the price we paid could not fault the place.

When you get to reception and see the pool area and gym all looks well, get your pitch number and proceed to touring area you may not be so pleased pitches very small only big enough for van and awning cars just find a space, EH boxes damaged all around the park, no privacy from either side. Toilet blocks not a very high standard and chemical disposable may well be an old cattle shed @ £23 a night well over priced. Where the touring pitches are be aware we had to put up with road noise and a WORKING QUARRY situated right behind all tourers noise from 7am-8pm lovely when you've got a baby to sleep.
On the plus side pool looked very nice, and Blackpool not to far. I hope this helps you decide .

Used this site twice this month. The camping field is great, the only draw back is the dark walk down rather steep steps to get to the toilet / shower block in the middle of the night. You will definitely need a torch /lantern. However, other than that you cannot fault this site, great club house, great pool, fabulous staff, good soft play area for little ones, loads of walks and places to ride bikes etc.
Other campers were really friendly and we soon had a football tournament going involving everyone!
Great for families, but would advise a chemical toilet to avoid the night time stumble!

 BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT,.BRILLIANT!
Love this place. Just got back from 4 nights there and its been the best weekend so far this year. The sight is spotless, the staff are REALLY friendly, The pool is great, the bar and entertainment whilst being cheesey at times is a really good laugh! The walks on nearby Beacons Fell were fantastic with amazing views.
My reviews would not be the same without a couple of little whinges. 1. Key to the shower block, can be a pain if you forget it and only realise when you get there and your tent is quite a way off. 2. Plugs for the washing up sinks(maybe they have been nicked that often they have stopped replacing). Whinge over.
When we booked we were given the option of the tent field or a tourer pitch. We opted for the tourer pitch and it was great, loads of room for the tent and car and room for somewhere to sit and sunbathe.
Even when fully booked the site doesn't seem too packed out. The aren't cars driving round all the time
All the facilities, pool and entertainment are included in the price and we made full use of most of them.
My little lad loved it.
Longridge village (about 1mile away) is good.Supermarkets, bars, shops etc.
Cant wait to go again and again and again.
