We have been visiting this site for years and it certainly ranks highly amongst our favourites. The location is idyllic, the new toilet block is superb (the best we have encountered), and Julian and Marion and staff are so friendly and helpful they make sure your stay is a pleasant one. Even when full the site remains as peaceful as can be expected. The walking in the surrounding area is abundant. A pleasant stroll takes you into Porlock where a selection of quaint shops, restaurants and pubs can be found.

I hadn't realised just how superb this site is until I visited others. We have been using this as our base for Exmoor for a couple of years now. The toilet block and showers are excellent and the site well kept. Ideally placed for Exmoor and the coast. A true gem of a camp site.

A beautiful site in rolling green countryside- very peaceful. New toilet & shower block built 2 years ago & still looks brand new. Plenty of continuous hot water. All spotlessly clean. Very quiet during the night & staff very friendly. Definitely recommend this lovely place.

Excellent location, surrounded by Exmoor. The staff were very friendly. Shower and washing up facilities are good. Showers are continual flow ie. No need to keep turning on! Went with our 14mth son and he loved seeing the horses return to the field in the evenings.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at this site. It is really peaceful with very good, spotless facilities - free showers with lovely hot water! We had a large tent and could pitch wherever we wanted - yes, the field is sloping but this didn't affect us much.
It is a very friendly site and lovely and quiet - no play area or entertainment. In fact a perfect get away from it all site.
There's loads to do in the surrounding area with several National Trust properties within easy driving distance. Also there are lots of walks nearby - several of which start at the campsite! Our 2 kids (4 and 2) loved it and so did we - we will be back!

Just spent the weekend here and echo other reviews. We arrived at the end of whitsun week and the site was pretty busy. Upon arrival we were taken to the flattest available pitch and asked if it was suitable. The guy (owner?) offered to get some boards to level up the van if we needed them. The pitches with EHU seemed to be flatter over all, but the slope was not a problem for us.
It's a very clean and peaceful place. The toilets, showers and wash up remained spotless and there was always hot water. The showers were some of the best we've used. Little on site shop sold a selection of goods and was very useful.
There is no children's play area, but it's not really needed as our 2 boys spent hours playing in the woods at the top of the site. They also loved the stream. Although dogs have to be exercised off site, there is a gate straight into the woods with a bin for waste. This really is better than a small patch of grass labelled as a dog exercise area like at other places we've been to.
Great place for walking, hiking, cycling or just just plain old chilling out and relaxing. We will definitely go back here again.

July 2005 Another fantastic stay at our favourite holiday location on Burrowhayes Farm.
1st stayed in a tent.. then in one of Julians ( the owner ) static vans and now we take our folding camper there.
This is our 13th year visiting the site and all I can say is that it is great.
Small and friendly, well stocked shop with realistic opening times, excellent facilites ( pot wash, laundry with washing machines, spinner, iron, tumble dryer, spotlessly clean toilets, showers, disabled facilities and family washroom / shower).
If you need a TV then this is not the site for you as you won't get a picture as you are deep in the Horner woods.
Vans / tents are excellently spaced out and there are multiple bins / water / waste disposal points around the site.
Nice and quiet at night and bbq's are allowed.
The local village is a 20min walk away, with pubs, shops and a chippie, or Minehead around 6 miles or so.
Burrowhayes Farm is also a working stables and the horse rides are very popular with fellow campers young and old alike and a 1/2hr pony walk and lead is only £6.00! A real bargain..
If you want a relaxing peaceful holiday on a friendly, welcoming site, with excellent facilites and spectacular views, then this is the place for you...
You won't be disappointed.

April 2005 We have visited this site on several occasions over the past few years. The owners have always been friendly & helpful. The toilets are kept clean & the facilities are good. The pitches for the tents are sloping, but in no way is this a problem.
The walk in the surounding woods is very pleasent & the site it's self was relaxed & quite. With it's location within Exmoor there is a lot to be said for this site. I would recommend this site to anyone it has something to offer everyone.

September 2004 A really nice site with the staff being very friendly. The TV reception there is very poor but the site owner loaned me a TV extension lead to hook up to his satelite receiver. The shop sells a booklet with local walks in it. Following the instructions on one walk caused me to get lost for a while on the moors above the site. Its a wonderfully cryptic guide! Would I go again- YES

August 2004 Good points: Excellent facilities, toilets, pot washing, laundry etc. Helpful owner and staff. Good shop. Coped very well in wet weather, toilets still kept clean. Even when site was full.
Bad points: Hard to think of any, site slopes a bit and the far end can get a bit boggy.
Summary: Excellent, would use it again, and have done frequently over the last four years.
