Spent a week at Chatsworth CC this July; the first week of the school summer holiday and while Peak 2010 was going on over the wall in the estate grounds. Despite the scouts next door and the site being full, the site never felt busy.
The site is usual CC standards and we felt the pitches were a good size and well arranged. Some reviews make note of weeds on the pitch. We never felt this was an issue, but I did whiteness wardens spraying the hard standings with weed killer.
While the showers were new and clean, the water pressure could have been better, but it didn’t stop us keeping clean. The family room is nice, but it’s a children size toilet!
TV reception was good through the CC TV booster system, we never tried our aerial.
It’s a nice walk to Chatsworth House and to the village of Edensor, which is worth a look around and a cup of tea at the tea room.
I like photography and was pleased to find out that photography inside the house is allowed, which is unusual for such houses/ attractions. Chatsworth has plenty to offer a family and our 5 and 3 year old girls had loads of fun in the gardens and in the farm with its big play area. As you may expect, they were not that taken on the house! The play area on the CC site isn’t much; one slide, climbing wall and net, and monkey bars, but our children enjoyed it.
The dog walk is small, but that’s not an issue as Chatsworth grounds are on your doorstep. You have to keep them on a lead though due to sheep according to the signs, but we didn’t see any sheep on that side of the river, possibly due to the Peak 2010 event.
Would we visit again – definitely.

Just had an extremely relaxing weekend at this excellent Caravan Club Site.
The pitch we had was fully maintained as were the other pitch areas; neatly mowed lawn, debris free hard-standing areas.
The service points are clean and tidy, the chemical toilet emptying point is well maintained. The toilet block is modern and also well maintained.
Must remark on how peaceful this site is, just the occasional sound of bleating sheep coming from the other side of the wall that surrounds the site.
The Wardens work hard and are a credit to the Caravan Club which in our opinion was so obviously apparent; combining friendliness with an extremely professional attitude.
Concerning the disrepair of the road leading into the site, happily it was scheduled for resurfacing on the day of our departure 8th August 2010.

In Chatsworth as I write and enjoying the location with a glass of wine. Visted this site 3 years ago and wanted to return so decided this year to re-visit Chatsworth for the first week of our holiday.
Location is superb with access to Chatsworth great for walking and Bakewell only 4 miles away, this is our favourite town in The Peak District.
Toilet block has been refurbished since our last visit and is always spotless, although the showers could be warmer and the water supply in the cubicles for shaving and to the dishwashing area has always been cold.
Surrounding district is great and pubs in Baslow are ideal for a stroll/drink/evening meal with kids.
Buxton, Caselton, Ashbourne, Chesterfield and surrounding area have plenty to do.
One thing I did notice on return this year is that that pitch maintenance is not what it was three years ago. Given the location and occupancy rate this site should be one of the Caravan Clubs showpiece sites. However all pitches are badly in need of a weed and the site could be better maintained in general. Given this site was closed for several months a few years back for refurbishment we were a little disappointed with the overall appearance. Access road is also full of potholes and requires careful navigation with the van.
For anyone who is visiting for the first time it is worth paying extra for a fully serviced pitch as this gives slighly more space/privacy - especially if you have a larger unit and want to put upan awning.
Would definitely return but in our opinion there are better sites in the CC network and possibly in the Peaks.

Lovely site and friendly staff. Got what we initially thought was a great pitch opposite the kids play area. It was great for the kids, but was totally shaded morning/noon/night. The toilet/shower blocks were fantastic, and probably the best we have used. The kids loved the children's bathroom. Loved the walk through the gate onto Chatsworth, and had a lovely day up at the house, making the most of the food and wine fayre. Would definitely go back.

Love this site - same Club standards you get at any other Club site, but within the grounds of the Chatsworth Estate. So just great for sunny afternoon picnics by the river etc with an amazing view of the house.
Lots going on in the park for the kids, we spent all day in the farm and adventure play area. We took a picnic as we had such a sunny day, but have to comment that the food in the farm cafe was very reasonable.
Plenty of places to visit if you're happy to drive, if you want to leave the car behind there are a choice of pubs within around a mile but little else happening within Baslow itself.

Visited for first time last year so looked forward to returning with friends. The long narrow approach road is now really in a deplorable condition with lots of serious pot holes. Both us and our friends were genuinely concerned about damaging our caravans. The warden urged me to complain to the club as he was frustrated that nothing was being done. Due to the positioning and depth of the holes we will not be risking serious damage to our caravans or motor movers until this road is repaired. We will check with the site to see if it has been done and will only go back there if it has.
Site itself is perfectly fine, but I agree with some previous posts that it does have a cramped feel about it for a club site.I think the club has been a little bit greedy and crammed too many pitches in.
Last year we walked into Baslow and went to the Devonshire Arms which was a nice pub that allowed dogs. Unfortunately this pub has now been 'done up'. It has lost any semblance of character and even worse no longer allows dogs. The Rutland Arms is dog friendly.

Absolutely love this caravan site. We have been going here for the last 4 years at various times of the year. Including Xmas & New Year.
The facilities are excellent. The wardens are very helpful.
You can go into the grounds of Chatsworth at the back of the site and you then have a key to get back into the site.
It is a lovely setting with lots of fabulous walks.
We visit Tissington a lot as we buy our meat from the butchers which is wonderful. Ashbourne is a good town to visit as well.
Would highly recommend this site.

Just got back after spending six nights at this site. The site is lovely and the wardens are very nice too. Although the site is immaculate, washrooms are excellent and is in a favourable position within the chatsworth estate there are a few downsides to this site.
The approaching road/lane is in appalling condition - lots of holes and ruts which are unavoidable. Best to book a super pitch if available as these are bigger as some of the standard pitches are small and cramped.
Also if you want a quiet break this is not the place for you! It seemed that every other caravan owner brought with them a least one or two dogs and there were also a lot of children there too who were riding around the site from 7am until late night.
That said, as mentioned it is a nice site but I will be looking to book a site that is less noisy next time!

Just returned from Chatsworth, third visit here and yes we do love it.
The site is up to the usual high Caravan Club standard, pleasant wardens and immaculate toilet block.
It's lovely to be able to walk into the grounds, although today was the rally car show so we didn't go through - extremely noisy but great if you like that sort of thing. The water cascade is amazing for kids, there is a discount if staying on the site, take your receipt with you.
Nice pubs in walking distance, and of course all the beautiful Derbyshire countryside a short drive away.
Some pitches are quite cramped, we've always been lucky with ours, this time we had full sun all day and grass for the kids.
Note - if you arrive before 1 pm the local bowls club may take your number plate details and ring through to the office to complain, and once you turn off the road onto the lane you can't go back!
On the negative side the lane from the road to the site is appalling. The potholes are truly terrible, we crawled along but they are car wheel width apart on an already narrow road.

We are members of the club and had been recommended this site as it had a lovely location and we were not disappointed when we arrived. We had not booked the 2 nights in advance as it was fully booked but managed to stay as there were cancellations.
Its a lovely campsite and spacious and its in a walled area about 5 minutes from Chatsworth House. You are given a key to use the door to access Chatsworth a bit easier.
There is a lovely shower block and a good amount of washing up sinks available. We had lovely weather and the camp site was full but it was very quiet and we had a a really good time there.
Its a bit of a walk to the lovely Chatsworth Farm Shop but its a nice walk there and back. We didn't drive out to visit places but had a lovely time just visiting Chatsworth and enjoying the scenery.
The staff who run the site are very friendly and helpful whenever you needed advice. They have a small shop stocking the basic items.
