We have just spent a very pleasant 3 nights in this campsite. As previously mentioned, this is an extremely popular site and when booking there were no weekends available so we took what was available during the week.
It is true you do need to arrive early here. We arrived at 2.00 pm which seems quite early and we had to go around the site a few times until we found a space. We were lucky and found a lovely pitch - very spacious and with a nice lawned area behind us. But I could see that some of the pitches did seem rather small.
However, everything else made up for this. The location was stunning and the walks from the gate were fantastic. It was nice to be able to go from the site straight into Chatsworth Park and wander freely there.
The facilities were excellent. Lovely showers and lots of hot water. Plenty of toilets and spacious privacy rooms. And everything was spotlessly clean.
We felt very comfortable there and the dogs enjoyed the walks and to be able to run about in the designated dog walk area.
There is lots to do in the area. Lovely countryside all around. We would definitely return as we only scratched the surface during our short stay.

It would seem that booking a weekend pitch at Chatsworth is a black art. We managed to book for the Easter weekend and hoped to find out why everyone goes mad about Chatsworth.
I have to say the drive along the lane had me worried for my crockery and glasses still all being in one piece. I appreciate the bad weather this winter, but I honestly think a few bags of chippings would help until the frosts are truly away and proper repairs have been carried out.
The welcome on site is very pleasant and helpful. We set off to try and find a pitch and we soon realised if you don't get there for 1pm you have hobsons choice left. We managed to find a reasonable sized pitch. Once our Van was sited and the awning up we had very little room left for the car to allow a bit of sitting out space should the sun come out. They really do maximise the number of pitches from this site. I pitied people arriving after us as the pitches were so snug and close to each other.
The toilet block was of a decent size and reasonably clean given the traffic it had to cope with.
The access to Chatsworth Estate is very good, but as dogs have to be kept on a lead you cant give an active dog a good run about unless you walk miles with them.
The local village seems to have a good selection of pubs and eating houses. As the weather wasn't that pleasant we didn't use them. Chatsworth Farm Shop is worth a visit, but it does get very busy so be prepared to wait a few minutes for a parking space. I can recommend the Steak Slice that they sell.
The site is nice, the area is nice, but unfortunately I just don't get why its so popular. The pitches are small and squashed together, and its not cheap compared to other good quality sites with better pitches and just as good a location. As it gets so busy I wont be going back as it just feels too cramped for us.

Live 40 minutes drive away so used this site for a night away to chill. The good news is that on arrival work was being done in filling the potholes on the lane that approaches the site. On arrival it was difficult to locate a pitch as snow was on the ground so hard to differentiate gravel from grass, eventually found pitch that had been used earlier that day.
Friendly welcome - don't count on purchasing tv aerial lead as none available when enquired - managed to get a moderate picture with aerial but only BBC 2 or Five.
Facilities as already mentioned, clean and warm toilet block.
Hookup dial a bit fiddly but managed after third attempt.
Booked again for short breaks later in the year as convenient to get away on a Friday afternoon.

Went to meet some friends for the New Year. We had a lovely time, even though for the time of year there is not a lot of daylight and things to do.
The wardens are very helpful and the site is very clean.
The children were made very welcome.
When we were leaving it started to snow and the wardens ensured for us that the road we were travelling on were clear.
It is great that it is not near any roads for the children and the park access it via a locked gate and it feels very secure.

Chatswoth is a fantastic site well justifying the 5 star rating it holds.
We Stayed on a Superpitch. Fantastic but take your own TV extension cable £13.00 to buy on site, £6.00 at B&Q.
If you enjoy feeding the wildlife take plenty of birdseed and fat balls. We went through a large box of seed about 5kg, 2 fat balls and a jar full of mealworms. You can do your own autumn watch. All varieties of the tit family, robins finches and many we didn't know.
On the last day a squirrel discovered our feeder was really entertaining watching his antics in trying to get to the food. We hung the feeder on fine branches on the hedge, he couldn't reach because of his weight and fell off several times.

Lovely site, but I can see why the other reviews have some criticisms regarding space - the pitches are very close together, like they have tried to cram loads in, so once you have your unit, car and awning up, you don't have much space for the 6 metre firewall ruling. The grass section in between is prob about 3 feet wide. If you don't like kids playing or screaming at the vast amount of ducks that come to see you then don't go to this site. Pitches are not really big enough as other reviews say. The site itself is lovely, lovely area and the grounds of chatsworth is great for the dogs to walk around or just you to walk around especially on a lovely autumn day, the colours are magical on the trees etc. The wardens were forever on their quads/tractors either cutting the grass or hoovering up the leaves all day long so if you want peace and quiet, it can be difficult. Plus you have the Duke in his helicopter coming and going into Chatsworth Hse. There is deer around and the rutting season has started but this was a joyous noise of nature to here and hundreds of pheasants, squirrels, so the wildlife is abundant. We found the best pitches were along the River side. We would go back to this area but not to this site, due to lack of space etc. Oh by the way TV is very poor. We couldn't get anything on our satellite, but eventually got the TV booster on bollard to work after the 5th try, and got channels 1 - 4, no 5. The toilets and showers are marvellous, loads of them so there should not be a problem with queuing, and they are modern and immaculate.

An excellent but very busy site, as usual spotless in all areas. Discounts available at Chatsworth house on production of your site receipt. Walk out of the back gate and turn left, follow the path through the kissing gate and afternoon tea at the cafe on the green, of course try bakewell pud/tart, not for the weight watchers! Turning right out of the back gate will take you pass the river to chatsworth house. Bakewell is a stunning english village, yet again nearly everbody is selling bakewell pud/ tart. Last saturday in the month is farmers market day, a good market at very reasonable prices, all in all a good mini break

I have to agree with the previous reviewer - the pitches are too small. We stayed in one of the 'cul-de-sacs' which was difficult to get into and you were very closely packed in with the other units on all sides. The play area is very small but had some interesting little games for the kids to do.
That's my moan over. The setting was fantastic- going through the secret gate into the Chatsworth Estate was lovely, with a short walk into Baslow where there are some great pubs. Chatsworth House is on the doorstep but hugely overpriced and your CC membership only gets you discount off single adult tickets - so if you go for the family option you have to pay full price.
Buxton is definitely worth a visit. We had a really nice lunch in the Pavillion Gardens and it was really good value. Bakewell is also very pretty.

The last reviewer mentioned small pitch sizes but my experience of a superpitch was that there was ample space.
House visit was disappointing and expensive for what it is.
Nice site overall except for the state of the single track road (which must be over half a mile long) which goes from the main road to the site, this is in a shocking state of disrepair with pot holes several inches deep and a foot or more across. It will really test how well made you caravan is! Come on Caravan Club this is a serious let down on what otherwise is a very good site !

Very pleasant site with the expected Club quality. Adequate sized superpitch but if you have an awning too there won't be much space for more chairs and tables. The key they provide that allows access to Chatsworth estate was a very nice touch but note you can't cycle around the estate. Remember to take your Club site receipt for 20% (I think) adult discount if you visit the house and gardens.
Local Spar shop at the back of Baslow had essentials but note that the Chatsworth Farm Shop is not much further and has very high quality produce and prices - think upmarket Waitrose - and it's open 7 days.
I would certainly go back there as its quite easy to use as a base to explore the Peak District
