The venue itself was a delight. Even in January, there is a beauty about this part of the world. The facilities are second to none and if like me you only want a park as a base to explore or to get away from it all then this is a place that you have to visit. Children will have acres of space to play in safely and the owners have obviously taken the stance of keeping things simple and keeping it a place of tranquillity. They haven't jumped on the commercial bandwagon like many other places seem to have. I would have no hesitation in referring people to this place at all.

Previous reviewers have been very unfair to the gentleman who presumably is the proprietor of this camp site. True, he’s not the most conversational of people but we found his brevity of word and his wit most agreeable compared with many wardens who seem to think we have nothing better to do than stand around chatting all day. We particularly enjoyed his monologue on the differing attributes of grass and tarmac, especially his descriptions of each. Presumably he recognised that Norfolk has neither roads nor grass so felt the need to be specific in case we drove over that funny green stuff. And anyway, courtesy and friendliness are both old hat these days; much more fun to come away feeling insulted and scorned. And to those who expect wardens to smile at them: what do you think the place is - a holiday camp?
If you take away the entertainment of the wardens, Tanners Farm is boringly excellent. Although only one block was open, the shower/toilets were spotlessly clean and in good condition. The site itself is very well landscaped and maintained (don’t drive on the grass) and the hard standing serviced-pitch we were allocated was perfectly flat and even. They have grassy pitches but these were closed off for the season – hard standings only at the moment (end of November). A small shop on site sells basics. TV is fair. Vodafone signal is not bad; Orange is OK sometimes but disappears frequently.
The location is beautiful. Although the site itself is generally level, the farm is surrounded by gentle hills, good footpaths, accessible fields and relatively quiet lanes. If like us you rely on sat-nav, be cautious when a couple of miles or so away, especially from the south. Our unit took us down about a mile of lanes so narrow I was scraping the hedges on both sides of the ‘van. I should have carried on for another few hundred yards and taken a classified road. We were asked not to drive on the grass and were pleased to be reminded of this several times by strategically placed notices. In fact, the site has the benefit of quite a few prohibition notices so we were never in doubt about what we could and couldn’t do.
The acid test is: would we return. Yes, but next time we’ll keep the conversation to a minimum.

This is a lovely site with a huge amount of room. Even though it was almost full when we arrived it didn't feel at all crowded. You are told where to pitch your caravan, which we found a bit strange after being used to Caravan Club sites where you choose your own pitch, but one we were allocated was in a good position and very flat. Some of the pitches are near the children's playground and would be rather noisy. The facilities are very clean with fresh flowers in the washroom. However it could do with more showers (only 3 in each of the 2 blocks) so there was a bit of queueing in the mornings. The shop sells basic items and newspapers can be ordered, but it is only open from 9-12 and 2-5. We felt the wardens could have been a bit friendlier. They weren't unfriendly exactly, but an occasional smile would be nice. This is a great site if you have children. There were several quite little ones riding around on bikes all day and hurtling down the gentle slopes at breakneck speed (the 5mph speed limit did not seem to apply to them!) but they were all well behaved. There are lots of lovely walks around the edges of the fields and we enjoyed visiting the shire horses, pigs and goats. We would definitely recommend this site.

This is a beautiful campsite. The pitches are huge with large stretches of grass all around. The toilets, showers and washing up areas are immaculate with fresh flowers placed in them every day. There are two blocks and these are cleaned at different times so toilets and showers are always available. Sinks in the toilet blocks are in individual cubicles which is great if you have kids. There is a lovely play area, separate ball games area and swings. The kids loved looking at the farm animals and there are beautiful footpaths for miles around. The shop is basic but well equipped. There is also a room full of tourist information, menus for local pubs plus books and toys that I assume can be borrowed. In this room there is also a freezer for ice blocks where a small donation to charity is requested. There is no set quiet time but all campers seemed to quieten down when it got dark and those that did sit out were considerate of others. This is well worth a visit and are looking forward to going back next year.

Great site, friendly owners. Good for kids with bikes as lots of space. Lots of kids there but it still seemed pretty quite and relaxing. Toilets were very clean. Shop was reasonably well stocked for essentials but not really food. Quite a distance from any pubs. We will be going back.

Tanner Farm is an exceptional site, the area is of outstanding beauty and the campsite is lovely. The showers and toilets are kept extremely clean all the time, and the private wash cubicles are a very good idea, also kept extremely clean. You will enjoy this campsite, for it's peace and tranquility and the children will enjoy the space in which they can play with freedom, including the wooden play equipment and football pitch. You can also go to see some of the animals there, we have never been off site, as we use this campsite as our weekend stopovers, but I have been told the surrounding area is lovely and there are many places to visit, all displayed in the washroom area.

Wonderful site, lovely walks (but got lost). Spacious and clean but owners/wardens too miserable for words. You need to keep your sense of humour with you to deal with them! Having said that, we have been before and are considering returning this year (kids love it) but will remember not to try to converse with owners. See you there, have fun.

My parents had been there before and really enjoyed it so we decided to go with them and have a weekend together. They went down the day before and my father called me to say that the warden at reception was very "frosty" and was more concerned with dad not driving on grass than anything else. We turned up the following day and met a different warden who couldn't have been more helpful! However when we went to the shop to buy some sweets for the kids a different lady warden was there and was more interested in reading the newspaper. Things didn't change much ther following day when my dad went to get the papers. The male warden didn't even look up from his paper and just said "pitch number?" and was very abrupt. When dad checked out the following day to return the barrier key the warden was busy talking to one of his chums who we later found out was a seasonal pitch owner. Dad wasn't even acknowledged so he put his key on the desk and walked out. No "thank you" or even a "goodbye".
Although the site facilities were pretty good, the wardens (with the exception of one) obviously have never attended a course on customer service - we will vote with our feet and not bother to return, which is a shame considering the site itself. I can only presume that the site has new owners or similar. Every CC site we have been to so far has had friendly and helpful wardens (maybe we have been lucky). Sadly this wasn't the case with this site!

This was our first camping experience and we were glad we went here. Ammenities and surroundings were great. Play park and football field was good and everyone joined in. Farm animals were great to see - a baby goat got it's head stuck in a fence which we reported and was dealt with. Walks were good but we did go into the wrong field because the arrows on the style had been turned around.
We found this farm hard to find. Our Sat Nav couldn't find it and we went down some tiny one tracked lanes and asked.
If you need the toilet through the night you will see a carpet of rabbits. Don't break the rules you will be spotted! One night some people played loud music until early am - it only happened one night! Fresh flowers in toilet block smelled lovely. Toilet blocks are covered in flowers. Cloths left so you can wipe down when you have finished with sinks. Most people do, so the place was kept clean even after cleaning the BBQ. Wash sinks are in cubicles - We liked this. Blocks are closed for cleaning one at a time.
Most people say hello. We will go again this year and be taking other camping virgins!

Fantastic! Tent field was flat, level, well divided, plenty of space, caravan field looked just as good ( plenty of hard standing ). Toilets are the best I've ever seen , spent a lovely day mooching around on the beach at Camber Sands ( 30 minutes drive away ) miles and miles of flat open sand before you get to the water , perfect for those dog walks ( right hand end of beach for dogs OFF LEAD) then on way home went to lovely village of Cranbrook (dog friendly pubs !). Back on site the owners were very nice , helpful, polite and made sure we was happy! We will be going back next year, as it's local to us, I'm sure we will be there a few times. In all 2 big thumbs up from us.
