August 2005 Stayed 4 nights midweek in a tent and all I can do is echo other peoples comments. Very nice site, cleanest ever toilets, washing facilities and laundry room. When I was there it seemed bed time was 10.00, with lights out everywhere! Excellent dog walk through fields, better than the usual overgrown path you get on some sites. And you really do see loads of rabbits too.
There was plenty locally to keep us occupied, The Hop Farm just off the A228 and well sign posted was a good, slightly expensive, day out. Check its web site, they have all sorts of activities going on, but even without those is a complete 10 till 5 day out. And the food wasn’t overly pricey, but you could take picnics too.
Tunbridge Wells is close, with the beautiful shops and Pantiles to look at, and for a bit of history there are the High Rocks to go and climb on for the kids. Just down the road is Goudhurst which has a pretty little church, and fantastic views across the rolling Kent downs, together with a nice pub and an excellent butcher which we used.
Also not far is Cranbrook, a pretty little town which has a working smocking mill which is only open Saturdays and lots of shops to look at, a very nice clothes shop in which I spent tooo much! There is again a pretty church up the hill a bit and a childrens playground for them to let off steam. Also an interesting Museum situated in a 15th century farmhouse showing what life was like at various times. My son was fascinated by this.
Another full day out is at Bewl Water. Check the website! You can cycle all the way round this, and we did, but be warned, take the anti-clockwise route which although it has hills, they are just before the “homemade lemonade” sold at one of the houses on route, and about a third of the way round, so its easy going on the last leg! You do go on some roads, but we only saw one car and a lawnmower on the whole route. I hired a tag along and bike from the bike hire in the car park and it was so uncomfortable, and the gears slipped, so if you have to hire, check the bike out thoroughly.
As for eating out, there is the The Wild Duck in Marden Thorne, 01622 831340, for fantastic meals in a wonderful setting. A large restaurant area, a good pub area, and a large garden with climbing frame. I sat by the open doors to the garden, watching the kids playing, and with the dog sat at my feet, after having the most delicious meal of the holiday. Food is modern, you won’t get “pub food” here, but the desserts are to die for. No kids menu, but as all food is cooked from scratch they will do small simple portions for them.
There is the West End Tavern in Marden itself, we had lasagne, steak and chicken nuggets, good basic food. Small beer garden out back for dog owners, unless restaurant is quiet then you can eat inside.
Also, the Halfway House past Horsmonden, we went there on our way back from the Hop Farm and although we didn’t eat there, the butcher hadn’t delivered steak and that was the only thing my son would eat, the food looked very good, and was free range too, from good quality meat. Very good real ales too. We tried to eat originally at the Highwayman in Horsmonden, but they only had sandwiches, looked ok though.
In Marden itself there is a farm shop, which has lovely fresh bread to order, and locally grown vegetables and fruit. Two small “supermarkets” and a petrol station. Also lots of walks around the area, and all those orchards with apples in them!

I have just spent a wonderful week at Tanner Farm. The site is a real treat, not only is everything kept very clean, but the tent pitches are nicely seperated with shrubs and they are not too close together either. They have two children's play areas, something my 2 and half year old son really enjoyed. They have a duck pond and various goats, pigs, chickens, rabits, and horses to pet. Ideal for children too. Security and facilities excellent. However, I am sorry to report one critisism, and I do so only for completeness, but I found only two of the six staff that I encountered, cheerful and polite. My son liked watching the tractor collect the rubbish (daily) and various tooing and froing of the tractor pulling a trailer or caravan, and he would wave and smile at the driver, but not once did the driver wave back or smile back at him. I also encountered the same man in the shop, reading a newspaper, he was basically unhelpful to the extreme. I am sure it must be the presure of the summer workload but a simple wave would have made all the difference. A man I perceived to be the owner of the site seemed also to be grumpy and my relatives (also staying on the site), had similar encounters. One lady in the shop however was extremely polite and courtious and always had a smile. So all in all a realy nice site, but a few more smiles would shift this four star site into a five star one! You have a really nice site, life can't be so bad, can it?

July 2004 This site is the best we have been to and we have been to dozens over the years. The country walks by the river are something else, we even saw a kingfisher so keep quiet and keep your eyes open and see the wildlife that abounds arount Tanner Park. The animals are great to spend some time with and if you go early in the season the kids can even feed the lambs with a bottle. Our grandson Taylor loved it there as he was free to walk around as its such a spacious site and also the kids playground is very good for them. Good showers and facilities and all spik and span. We went there twice in 2004 and will be going there twice in 2005 for sure because its so good there. Sharon and Chris.

August 2004 Ahh, Bliss! What can I say? Beautiful, peaceful, clean, fun, great tent pitches, well priced, can't wait to go back!! (don't know if the Diablo 900 would fit on all of them though, they are pre-set planted with trees in between)
nice field for ball games, good play park, animals were lovely.
If you want a quiet, but family friendly site, then try Tanner Park, they even have a toddler bath, incase your little ones don't like showers.
Shop is stocked with basic essentials, and isn't open all day. Will re-freeze ice blocks for 10p each.if you are looking for a nice pub to eat at try the Chequers Inn, Goudhurst, they do a fantastic Carvery Thurs and Sat eve, and sunday lunch.

July 2004 This farm is a series if fields interlinked by a well kept purpose built road.
When I tried to book, there were no tent pitches left. I asked if I could pay the extra and use a caravan pitch instead. It was well worth an extra £1.
The fields are all different in layout. It is well worth knowing this when you book so that you can ask for a place to suit your needs. The first field gets passed through on your way to any of the others. The pitches here are seperated by shrubs etc and look lovely.
The next field and tent field are both next to a large, imaginative children's play area. Some pitches are on the outside and others in the middle are perfect for those with kids as you can see them from your caravan or tent.
The tent field has some pitches on the outside which are seperated but have the exit track yards from them. The speed limit is 5mph but I still wouldn't want to pitch there with a small child. The pitches further down are fine but open plan so no privacy unlike the outside pitches.
The last field is the best for those who want a quiet retreat. No road so no passers by. Pitches 48-56 in particular are fab. huge space between them and no middle of field pitches. Close to the facilities without getting noisy.
There are several toilet / bath / shower/ washing up blocks and litter / waste water / drinking water facilities in each field. The blocks are kept clean and tidy and have flowers in them. Very well cared for site. The grass is kept neatly mown and the walks around this massive acre farm are beautiful.
Security is great, secure entry system. Shop, lots and lots of animals. No ball games allowed other than on the designated field.
This site offers something for everyone. Be sure to make them aware if you want a site near the kids facilities or a quiet pitch on the bottom field where no-one passes you.
We will definetly return here provided I can get onto the bottom field! I don't like big sites for the lack of privacy but this one is really good. I am just antisocial and will mainly go for 5 pitch sites, if this impressed me, it must be good!Book well in advance as it is extremely busy.

May 204 This is an absolutley gorgeous site. It is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. There are many animals to see and a huge array of wildlife. The children fed the lambs every morning and it was a real treat to be able to get up close to so many farmyard animals. The wild rabbits roam about everywhere and are fantastic to watch. The site is immaculate and the two shower and toilet blocks are extremly clean and well maintained. There is a small site shop which sells the basics bread, milk, orange juice, etc. There are farm walks leaflets available from the shop and we walked 8 miles through the most amazing countryside spying foxes , woodpeckers, squrriels and butterflies. This site is worth every penny of your pitch fees and I can't wait to return.

MAY 2004 Lovely site, clean facilities and spacious wide open grass pitches, they have a limited number of fully serviced pitches but they are on hard standing, the electic only pitches make for a far nicer stay. The farm amimals are an added bonus and the shire horses are brought round in full dress for the children to see. The surrounding area is truly beautiful a real treat from town life. Make sure that you are fully stocked, the nearest shop (a small village store) is approx 3 miles away. Will be booking again.

April/May 2004 Our first visit to this site, but not our last. The site was very spacious giving a feeling of privacy at all times. We had our 10 year old daughter with us and two 16 year old boys (son and friend). The boys enjoyed fishing on site whilst myself, husband and daughter enjoyed the animals and woodland. The site was clean and facilities for hygiene were spotless. There was an area for children to play away from the tents/caravans. The boys said a mini golf course or pool table would have been nice but were keen to go back. We fed the lambs, watched mother duck and her 10 ducklings wander around and had a great time. We have booked again for August(staying for longer).

June 2003 Have just spent 10 days at this site, June 2003, in our tent. We were very impressed and thought it was one of the nicest sites we have been on. The pitches are large and well laid out with trees and shrubs in-between. There is a choice of hardstandings or grass pitches. There is an area set aside for ball games and a small adventure playground for younger children. There are lovely walks around the farm, in particular the one to the river and back which takes about one and a half hours. There were baby ducks on the pond, very friendly goats, sheep, pigs and shire horses. We went to see the animals every day and fed the ducks. The shower blocks are kept clean and looked beautiful with all the hanging baskets and bedding plants outside. One block has good laundry facilities and other block has a bathroom and a child's bath. In the late evening and very early morning there are rabbits grazing around the campsite. There is plenty to see in the immediate vicinity, quite a few National Trust properties and gardens, and all the villages and small towns are very pretty. We will certainly be returning.
