What a great site and the views are outstanding. The facilities were kept spotless and there are plenty of showers and toilets. The tent pitches are very spacious and level. Site has a bar / restaurant which seemed very popular with the other campers, only visited once though just to see what it was like. All in all a great site and I would definately recommend it.

What a fantastic site!!

Just spent four great days there and didn't want to leave.

Spectacular views, great pitches, loads to do.

Can't wait to return, would recommend this site to anyone.. :o)xx

I must agree with all the other reviews. It is a fantastic location - views are awesome in good weather. Facilities are great too.
However, I must stress, the weather is such a huge factor with this campsite. We only managed two nights of a 7 night holiday on this site due to high winds - WHICH MUST NOT BE UNDERESTIMATED. If weather can be guaranteed then its fabulous.

This park is as clean, well presented & picuresque as all the other reviews state. We especially enjoyed the walk along the coastal path into West Bay for a pint & fish & chips in the evening.
The on-site club provided reasonable quality food (especially sunday lunch) but was a little thin on entertainment for children.
We only used the swimming pool once as there is a ban on diving, jumping-in & any type of inflatable toy, so our four year old was soon bored.
I don't think that the other reviews emphasize enough that the cliff top location does attract extreme weather conditions. Speaking to the staff, they maintain that it is a beautiful location; in the nice weather. Indeed, the notice in reception states 'NO REFUNDS DUE TO POOR WEATHER'.
We would consider going back to this park, but would keenly keep an eye on the forecast before setting-off.

Popular Choice in this Area

West Fleet Holiday Farm - Weymouth

Set in 15 acres of breathtaking countryside, right next door to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, this site offers stunning views of the Chesil Bank, Fleet Lagoon, and Lyme Bay. Welcoming tents, motorhomes and caravans, this family friendly site offers spacious grass pitches with or without electric. For kids there's an outdoor heated swimming pool, 3 acre playing area including slides, swings and more.

Facilities include toilets, showers, washing up, launderette, and WifI. There is an onsite shop and off-licence. The Bar in the Barn at the site serves a delicious food and offers a variety of entertainment, including live music. As well as the attractions of Weymouth's beach and harbour, this is a great base to explore family attractions throughout South and West Dorset. Find out more here

Got got back from 2 days at Highlands End and the site is everything the other reviewers have mentioned.

Views are terrific and the shower blocks clean and tidy. The site itself is well maintained and the club a good size for family groups though we never got to use the pool or other facilities. If you are going at short notice and know it is going to be very blowy, then be prepared as it's at the top of the cliffs and exposed, but the payback are the views. We had no such problems and had two good evenings barbecueing outside and will be going back again.

i would agree with the first review in respect of all the plus sides of this site. However the wind should not be underestimated, quite a few of the tents in the more exposed tent fields were seriously damaged by the high winds that we experienced.

Just returned from two glorious weeks in West Dorset. We stayed at Highlands End Holiday Park which is at Eype Near Bridport. This is a site to be visited for its spectacular views across Lyme Bay in the West and down to Portland Bill in the East. The site is one of a complex of four run by West Dorset Leisure Holidays and is listed in the CCC's "Your Big Sites Book" (193/141). This is a large busy site consisting of three sections, static caravans, touring caravans and tents. The site is laid out in a line, with the reception, shop, and Leisure Centre at one end then the static caravans followed by the touring caravans and lastly the tent area. So the Tenters have the farthest to walk, presumably because they are the fittest ;o)

Although the site is large, the tent area where we stayed was not over crowded and the pitches (separated by wooden fences) are large enough to take a trailer tent, awning and car with room to spare. Most of the pitches are level but there are some sloping but these didn't seem to be too bad. Many of the caravan pitches had hard standing and there were a few pitches with their own water and waste disposal. There is a large playing field where the kids (of all ages) can take advantage of the breeze on this cliff top site to fly their kites. There is also a play area with assorted climbing frames, rope ladders etc.

The coastal paths run right by the site and there is an easy walk down to West Bay (home of the TV series Harbour Lights) and its beaches, and a steeper walk down to Eype Beach. Eype beach is all shingle but was our favourite because of the clarity of the water. The shingle, mainly pea size, didn't cause the kids any problems but we older kids wore sandals or flip flops down to the water! If you don't feel like the steep walk down to Eype beach and the even steeper walk back, there is a car park next to the beach, which is an exciting short ride from the site (5 mins) and costs no more than £2 per day. I say exciting because the road from the site to the beach is a single track, very winding but does have passing places (plus two pubs that serve passable food). This is a great area for walking and is criss-crossed with many footpaths.

Facilities on the site are excellent, the toilet blocks were always clean and the showers free. There is a reasonable shop, information centre, public telephones, indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym etc (these latter cost extra) and bar with reasonable food and weekly entertainment. We really liked this site and this was our second visit in three years. So what are the drawbacks? Well, there is the long walk to the shop and reception area for both touring Caravanners and tenters. This also applies to the toilet block which is situated at the junction of the static area and the touring caravans, it's a bit of a drag if you get caught short in the middle of the night and your in the tent area. There is also the high winds which we have experienced on both our visits. These don't last long, a day or two usually, but the number of Storm Guys that were in evidence on the caravan awnings were testimony to the winds strength.
