June 2004 1st Trip out stayed Sun - Thurs very good value - and what a lovely place - friendly, helpful, near clean toilets / showers had a pitch in the Northfield (a small cul de sac).
Great for our little one, no cars moving at all in our field and just happened to have some other small children there for her to make friends and play with - Great facilities for children on site - she loved the small soft play and all the different playgrounds that we found.
She also loved the nature trail and of course all of the foals that we saw. We will definately be going again soon!

April 2004 Another successful holiday to Sandy Balls. This year we stayed in on-site accommodation - I'm not hardy enough to camp this early in the season. The facilities are excellent, the food at the Woodside Inn is good and value for money. There were some changes for this year. Gone is the Woodland camping area, currently being replaced by 15 log cabins. This means that all pitches are now concrete or gravel. We saw plenty of tents pitched on the gravel, but I'm not sure I would like to risk the built in groundsheet on our expensive tent. Also as all the pitches are serviced ones you are paying for the hook up whether you need it or not (it's included in the price, not an extra). The Cornfield (overflow field - no services) and the only grassed camping area, is only open 2nd to 30th August 2004 and is only £2 cheaper than the serviced pitches which are attractively landscaped. I really feel that Sandy Balls management are not now catering sufficiently for tents. At the end of our week we had two days of rain. On the Friday night the camp site started to fill up for the weekend. We saw a lot of tenters arriving and looking in dismay at the water logged gravel pitches they had been allocated, which if in a caravan or motor home would not have been a problem. Despite these issues I still think Sandy Balls is a wonderful site and we will be returning, but probably not to camp there.

April 2004 Have just come back after spending Easter here. We first stayed last October half term and have also booked next October again. We like the pitch facilities, its nice to leave the aquaroll behind. There's plenty for kids to do, even my teenager and 11 yr old who usually bore easily, with a programme of events. Showerblock warm and efficient. Only downside I would say are the high prices in the shop and the Italian restaurant but then you don't have far to go. The Woodside Inn though was good value for money with friendly staff. Great walks on site through forest and by River Avon and set right in the New Forest. All in all can thoroughly recommend.

October 2003 Visited during the school half term, and can only echo the positive comments already made on this site. Pitch had everything you would need included in the price, Electric, TV, Water and waste water all lined up. We had a pitch near to the kids play area, which was ideal for us, but may be a little noisy for others.
Showers and toilets were kept clean, although had a tendency to run out of loo paper mid afternoon, although this would be restocked before tea.
Leisure complex has everything you would want, Indoor and outdoor pool (outdoor closed off season), looked spick and span, although you had to pick the best times to go so as to avoid over crowding. Kids loved the soft play area, and we even ventured out on Bikes hired onsite.
The shop is well stocked, and we couldn't resist nipping up there to pick up some fresh bread most mornings.!!
I have heard others comment that this is a large commercial site, with a negative tone, however we found that on this occasion, the size has not had a detrimental impact of the quality of either the facilities or the friendleness of the staff.

Annually for last 5 years We have camped and stayed in on site accommodation. I would caution tents that the pitches in the Woodland can be muddy, especially towards the end of the season. Unfortunately, there is very little other choice for tent owners as all the other pitches appear to be gravel, and the Sandy Balls management will not allow you to pitch on the grass next to the gravel. However, that is the only downside I have found to Sandy Balls. The shower blocks are excellent. The Spar shop on site sells freshly baked french bread. The pub on site do good meals and the Fighting Cocks pub a short walk away do good meals, usually with special offers mid week. The nearby small town of Fordingbridge is pretty and has an excellent butchers for those summer barbeques. We will continue to return there.

Every Year since 2001 Sandy Balls was the venue for our first taste of camping. We weren't dissapointed, excellent facilies & friendly staff. Would highly reccomend it to anyone. Away from the campsite their is plenty to do in the local area whether it be walking our cycling in the New Forest or the thrills and spills of Paultons Park.

October 2003 We stayed in Northfield. Very nicely laid out and near to facilities. However, the showers were cold and despite reporting this, remained so throughout our stay. We had 4 powercuts and we were overcharged in the shop. A little bit too commercial for our liking.

August 2003 As always Sandy Balls did not fail us. Everything was spick and span. All the facilities are kept very clean.
Staff are helpful. We even saw the Sandy Balls groundsmen sent round to pitch a mans tent as he complained he could not get his pegs into the hard ground! How is that for service?
My son is not one to join in things but he gladly goes to the activities run by the activities staff on site. Wonderful site, wonderful holiday what more can you say?

August 2003 We have been staying as a family (with 3 children) at Sandy Balls since 1995, until now always in their fabulous wooden lodges. This year we decided to give camping a go. The facilities are clean, modern and everything works as it should. The staff who clean them look like they take a pride in what they do (the young and older staff members too) and always have a smile for you.

annually since 1988!! We love Sandy Balls, The facilities are excellent and incredibly clean and well maintained. Each pitch has full hook up etc and the site also has log cabins and static vans for hire ( both very good quality, particularly the cabins, very luxurious) The site has restaurants, a couple of bars and also a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym and an outdoor fun pool and adventure playground for the children to enjoy. The facilities offered make it an all year round site. For those who like the quiet life it has lots of country walks, many set within the site itself.
