The site has 20 pitches but 60% of these were occupied, apparently all year round, with touring vans being used as statics with tired and faded awnings and scruffy windbreaks serving as garden fencing. The available pitches showed no sign of recent mowing and the unkempt boundary hedging is to a height that frustrates the promise of countryside views.
The toilet block was frankly in an insanitary condition. It requires a deep clean followed by a plumber to replace the push taps in both the ladies and gents showers which presently each have a ludicrous web of plastic ties to permit operation. The push taps in the ladies variously have small to shocking leaks which flooded the worktops. An electricians attention is needed in both showers as the pull switches have no pulls. Of all the ceiling lights in the ladies and gents only one functions. The ladies are entirely in the dark!
On the plus side the price has only risen to a still modest £17 for the first night and £12 for all subsequent nights which includes electricity and hot water.

We have been there for years as it's a cheap, friendly site with a fantastic pub that serves good food and beer.
If you are reviewing a site at least stay long enough to give an accurate and informative review.

Electric hookup, showers and toilets all for £11 a night, what's not to like. Pub serving Real Ale and good food, another bonus. Family running the pub were very friendly. Will return without a doubt.

Stayed for four nights. This is a basic site but none the worse for it. £44 for four nights cannot be bad. Showers hot and no extra cost. Great base for walkers and cyclists. Back of a pub which serves good food, ale and reasonable price. Family who run it are friendly and characters. This was our second visit and we would stay again.

Booked this site for the wife's birthday with our friends. What a weekend we had. We had good food in the horse and jockey, locals were very nice, landlord and staff great laugh. Wife and friends had the best time. For once we relaxed, drank loads, eat very heartily. Wish to say thanks folks for making the 4 of us very welcome. See you soon for more of the same if you lot can stand the pace. Thanks again.

Stayed for 5 nights. Nice informal approach of owners as they trust you. Landlord told me to pay anytime. Ate in pub first night; good food, good beer, reasonably priced. Good handy location. This is a basic site but none the worse for it - 5 nights for £55 cannot be complained at. Water was hot in the showers (1 for males, 1 for females). The family are friendly and helpful and when I raised a couple of points with him, he did not try to argue the case. Rubbish management and the cleaning of the toilets could be improved.
Verdict: a good friendly site, very reasonably priced.
We are a mature couple and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Friendly welcome on arrival, but sadly we hadn't realised that they don't serve food on a Monday evening. The only nearish pub serving food was busy because it was half-term, so we cooked in the van instead.
Nice views from the campsite field in Winter when the trees and bushes are free of leaves. Lots of electric hook-up points, and we parked at the edge of the tarmac central area to avoid the potentially-muddy grass.
Toilet block is functional but unheated, and, perhaps because it was the off-season, hadn't been cleaned for a while so there was spider dirt and dust in the basins. Easily fixed with a quick wipe, though. Good value at £15 for the night including hook-up.

Quiet site with good access to mid Wales and England.
Supermarket near by and has Sunday market stalls.
Pitches have electric and water so you can hook up to the water mains.
Chemical toilet disposal.
Very poor tv signal sat ok.
Toilet block and shower facilities usable but not the cleanest.
Has a disabled toilet with access to a shower but the shower is not disability friendly.
Very good price.
Pub good food Chinese take out near by.
Would use again.

Just spent Easter weekend at the Horse and Jockey, what a great time we had. The landlord and his family made us all very welcome, great beer and plenty of cider. His wife does all her own cooking with help from there daughter, great food and best prices.
Toilet block kept very clean also site, very peaceful. £15 for first night £10 thereafter with EHU. Very central for visiting surrounding areas, but do need car as buses aren't frequent.
If into walking then you can walk your socks off. Montgomery and it's castle ruins are a five minute drive away, well worth a visit. All the best to Dave and his family. PS supermarket just 10 minute walk away.

Stayed here for 3 weekends including Easter. We were met on arrival by the owner who showed us to our pitch, and told us where everything was very helpful, during our weekends we ate in the pub and found it to be very good, fresh and huge portions and good value. There is always at least 1 real ale and 1 cider on offer along with the usual lagers etc.
In all this is a great little site run by a great couple who always made us welcome and to feel at home, we have already booked another weekend here in July. And as they say returning customers are the best advert for a site. Can not rate high enough. Great views, great food, great beer, and most of all great people.
