This site was perfect for our first camping trip. The site is sheltered and away from the road in the middle of beautiful countryside.
The toilets and washrooms are always clean. The showers are free and with hot water. There's a laundry room with washing up sinks. (£3.00 for a laundry cycle.) There is also a huge separate garden/field for kids to play games.
Glynnis & Ken were great, and 'Big Al' is very friendly.
The location was ideal. Penzance is 10 mins south & St Ives is 10 mins north. Lands End is half hour away, as is the Lizard in the other direction.
A visit to Higher Trenowin farm shop is a must. Their produce is local and the best you'll ever taste. (Open Wed-Sat + Sun morning @ half mile towards Penzance.)
This was a great holiday, and even though the weather was dreadful most of the time, the atmosphere of this site made our holiday an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely fantastic! We went with friends and in total were 4 adults and 4 children aged between 6 and 9. Advertised as a 'quiet campsite' we were very pleased at how quiet it was. Others weren't so pleased, but it suited us brilliantly. We don't want bars and entertainment. The kids entertained themselves and occasionally borrowed some of the games (swingball, croquet etc) from reception. Glynis and Ken, and especially Big Al (who went for a little tour of the campsite each morning) were really welcoming. Big Al had some great advice for beaches to visit.
The facilities were the best I've experienced - two huge wet rooms with toilet, FREE shower and basin which were great for sorting the kids. In addition to that an even bigger disabled wet room if you've got more than three kids to shower. Plus one shower in each of the ladies and gents (we didn't need to queue for showers ever. After all this is a small campsite). All very clean too and plenty of loo roll and soap.
We also had two great meals out: the Halsetown pub was proper home cooked food and they welcomed the kids with open arms; and in Newlyn 'the Meadery' (a family medieval restaurant!). And the beaches nearby were just amazing.
We'll be back!

We just spent a wonderful, quiet weekend at Higher Chellew.
The surrounding views are amazing, and we especially enjoyed walking our dog on the footpath (just off-site) out to a field on a hillside, with sweeping views of St Michael's Mount and the bay. This is a must (unless there are cows in the field!).
The toilet and laundry block are spotless and the showers allow for plenty space to hang things and put stuff, and a good degree of privacy. We especially appreciated the high quality toilet roll in the loos; a nice touch (no pun intended!).
There is a farm shop within walking distance of the campsite, which has local produce.
The pitches are a generous 30 feet, and I would imagine that even in the height of the summer we would not have felt crowded.
Glynis greeted me at reception, and she is very helpful and hospitable.
We can't wait to return; truly a place to 'get away from it all'. Highly recommended.

Stayed here 3 nights, quiet and peaceful. Stopped off at Penzance to stock up at Morrisons (they do a great cheap breakfast!) Then went to site via Gulval B3311. My motorhome being just over 7m long, with road narrow in parts but I had no trouble. Glenis and Ken a great couple, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back again.

As previous reviewers have said, this is truly is a top campsite. We pre-booked three nights and ended up staying for seven. Recommended to all.
St Ives is a nightmare to navigate but worth persevering. On a boat trip to Seal Island, a seal popped up beside us in the harbour before we even set off! Recommend the 'hands' in the Golden Lion there - an open sandwich laid out on toasted garlic bread; we stuffed our hodges for under a fiver! The local council seems to do some sort of deal on car-park charges in the district - well worth investigating, but we didn't spot this until our final day.
Best coast to be found at Sennen Cove. We also enjoyed the peace of Lizard Point, in marked contrast to Lands End which was tourist tat of the highest order. The Otter Sanctuary at Helston charges £10 per adult, something which is not mentioned in its literature and is only displayed actually within its doors. Can't say if it was worth the cost because it put us right off.
Cycled from the site to Mousehole on a scorching hot day - great going all along the seafront, but hard work coming back uphill!
We had a fantastic time camping down here, so thanks to all at this site for their hard work. Back soon!

Lovely quiet family site, fantastic setting for any one wanting to get away from it all. Facilities immaculately clean and very well maintained. Many thanks to Ken and Glynis our hosts and of course, a big thank you to 'Big Al' a man very happy in his work.

The site was exactly as we hoped. We only stayed for two nights but it was quiet and extremely peaceful. The welcome from the owners and "Big Al" was just as described by earlier reviewers ie positive and friendly, exactly as the lady owner had been on the phone when I made my last minute phone call checking availability the night before. The toilet and shower blocks were always clean tidy. In our short stay we never queued to use them.
The site was peaceful at night with no road noise to disturb sleep. We both slept without our ear plugs, which is most unusual.
It is centrally located between St Ives and Penzance. We got a Taxi into St Ives on our firs night which was just short of £10.00 each way. A bit pricey for 4 miles each way but the friendliest Taxi drivers we have met in years! ( ACE cars)
We would certainly highly recommend this site to others looking for a "get away from it" break.

An absolutely wonderful site. The facilities were very clean and well looked after. The staff were very friendly, and always ready for a chat. This is a very quiet site, and has some fantastic views of the surrounding hillsides. The site is very sheltered around the edges and the pitches are well spaced out. There are some good walks to St Ives and Penzance, and there is a farm shop just down the road that sells most things for an evening meal. The only problem we had was high winds for a couple of nights coming from the only un-sheltered side of the site. However, the tent did us proud. We also borrowed the swingball which was a great laugh and took us all back to our childhood. Will be going back for sure.

This is a wonderful campsite if you're looking for somewhere peaceful but near all the main touristy things. The pitches are level and well maintained and toilet and shower blocks excellent. The whole site has a feeling of being somewhere which is loved by it's owners - the gardens are beautifully maintained and even the entrance lane is tidy. It makes such a difference from some of the sites we have been to. There is no playground, but the centre of the camping area is great for children to play in. Not having children ourselves we found there was plenty enough space for children to play but not interfere with anyone wanting a quiet read. The owners, Glynis and Ken are lovely and Big Al who looks after the site always has time for a chat. I have to say this is probably the friendliest site we've been to and we shall definitely be returning to it.

We chose this site because it was small and fairly near Penzance where we arrived by train with our bikes, and we also heard favourable comments from a work colleague who stayed a few weeks earlier. It has to be one of the cleanest and best maintained sites in Britain. The owners are lovely friendly people and obviously work hard to ensure that everyone enjoys their stay. There are restrictions on the ball games that can be played near the tents, but alternatives like swingball and badminton that cause less disturbance, can be borrowed instead. Free range eggs are available for a donation to charity. This is an ideal site if you have a car, but there are no shops close by, so it was a bit awkward for us with bikes.
