 We have just returned from a relaxing long weekend away at the Mill House Campsite and have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Jackie & Giles are most welcoming, and very happy to give advice on where to go, cycle routes etc.
The campsite itself is set off a fairly busy road, and as other users have said, it could be more clearly marked from the road. That said, it is obvious when passed and turning around to go back is easy. There is minimal road noise, and it is completely unintrusive. We set up camp at the back of the site, and had a lovely little area with our own campfire circle to cook on. The facilities are basic, but perfectly adequate for a more rustic camping experience. The showers were lovely and hot, and in fact showering in the outdoors (with added rain!) only added to the whole experience. The kitchen area set up was great - use of a gas stove, left over food area, and also use of a fridge within the main farm area.
Do try Farmer Giles' sausages - they are delicious!
Location was great - there is plenty to see and do, lots of lovely back road cycling (with only a few small hills) and a pub within walking distance across the fields of the farm.
We loved the fact that the campsite was small, yet perfectly formed. There was no overbooking of pitches which meant that there was plenty of space for everyone. We will definitely be back, and may even consider coming in a group and hiring the whole field next time.

What a lovely campsite! We went here as a family of 4 - two young children of 7 and 5 years. We have been to a lot of campsites and this one is one of the best we have been to.
It has basic facilities, which is what attracted me to this site - ie just a field with toilets, a couple of showers and best of all you're allowed campfires! Although this is basic in that way, this also has cooking rings with free gas in the kitchen area which really makes this campsite have a feel of how relaxed the owners are - they aren't just there to make money, they are there to make your stay as relaxed and easy as possible.
You can't park your car next to your tent, but this is a plus as the grass doesn't get muddy and your kids can play knowing there's no traffic on site. We were a bit worried about the parking when we arrived as it was pouring down with rain, but the parking of your car is literally 50 metres away or nearer if you pitch your tent closer to the parking area. This site is a lovely little site with only room for about 7 to 10 tents depending on size of tents and you really get a feel of friendliness from the owners and others camping. My kids really fell in love with the donkey and Imellza (I think that was her name) the cat who had had kittens recently - so cute!

We like basic sites - we always choose these instead of larger ones with lots of facilities and crowds.
This site is basic and there are lots of great things about it, but there are a few things that niggled us (only little things so hopefully the owners may improve these in future).
The field is level and you can pitch where you like.
There is road noise but the traffic does die down in the evening. However, this may still be too much noise for those that want a very peaceful site.
Good things:
- friendly welcome and relaxed feel
- car-free site (you park at the side and carry your stuff onto the pitching area; a trolley is provided)
- small site, with limited number of pitches
- on site farm animals (piglets and goats during our stay)
- nice pub in village with good food and beer, a ten minute walk away (but take care on busy narrow road!)
- clean facilities with lots of hot water in showers (two unisex showers and four unisex loos)
Bad things:
- tricky access to site (hard to spot entrance which is off a fast A road and you have to get out of car to open gate. Exit is dangerous due to very poor visibility - I had to get out of the car to direct my husband out and then he had to pull in further down the road for me to rejoin him)
- shower fittings are very low (if you like to shower with the shower-head on the wall, you have to kneel down!)
- showers and loos are all wooden with bamboo roofs and would be a bit exposed in bad weather.
- no lights in facilities at all and fairly steep steps up to them which are a bit tricky in the dark
- the basins are in the open air and in full view of the rest of the site so there is no privacy at all and no mirrors or shelter
A few 'work-arounds' you need to do:
- no hot water in washing-up area (but a kettle you can boil)
- no electric socket for hairdryer etc (but you can use power socket in granary building by owner's house)

I don't recall ever being so sad to leave a site as we were today. This site is amazing and probably the most relaxing site we have stayed on. The owner is so friendly and welcoming.
The field is a small section on their smallholding. There is a section to leave your car and a wheelbarrow to move your kit if you need it, this results in the grass not being churned up and boggy.
The toilets are basic but perfect. The shower is very basic but probably the warmest campsite shower I've had! It was lovely.
The kitchen area has 2 double burners for you to use if you chose to, 2sinks complete with washing up liquid that we always seem to forget.
There is a rustic seating area and plenty of logs to sit on.
We had a wander around the smallholding, and fell in love with the donkeys and goats. You can hear the pigs snuffling which is such a relaxing sound.
Yes, during the day there is road noise, however its not a constant stream of traffic and it didn't bother us a bit.
The owners ask you to complete a survey if you wish, and when asked what we feel they could improve, my answer was a truthful nothing, leave it as it is.
What a perfect site that we wish we could have stayed longer.

What a lovely place!
We first came the last wednesday in August, having booked for 2 nights. The weather, however, had other ideas - the rain we survived, but the wind was too much and we had to leave when the tent nearly broke in half on the Thursday afternoon! Not wanting to just up and leave, I went to explain to the owners. To my surprise she wanted to refund our second night! We of course declined, but when we returned, they carried over our unused night.
That really sums up the lovely people who run this campsite, they welcomed us onto their farm with open arms, showing the children all the animals. Nothing was too much trouble, they were so friendly.
We returned a few days after our original visit, and this time the weather was much kinder allowing us to fully enjoy this wonderful place. The children were disappointed when we left as the rare breed sow had been due to have piglets within days, and to their delight, there were 2 tiny pink piggies when we returned. Again the owners were so helpful, actually taking the girls into the sty so they could see them all cuddled up in their indoor enclosure.
This was only the second campsite we have visited (the first being a large commercial site with pool etc) and we were delighted to have found it. Whilst it is a basic non electric site, the facilities were excellent. The gas powered showers were lovely and warm and the toilets were clean. The huts housing them were quite charming (beach huts for toilets and jungle type shacks for the showers complete with open/bamboo roof). The owners have really thought about the experience they want to give their guests with some very thoughtful touches - a camp kitchen complete with 2 double gas burners, and a camp store room with a large fridge.
The highlight of our stay was definitely being able to light our own campfire! There are a few firepits marked out in the campsite, conveniently located near the pitches. We purchased a bag of firewood large enough to keep the fire going all evening from the site for just £5, although they are equally happy for you to bring your own. The wood was good quality and well seasoned meaning no horrible cracking or spitting, and burned very well.
We also purchased some lovely sausages, and proper old fashioned bacon from the selection of the owners own produce. Both were delicious and excellent value.
The only real negative would be the main road that runs beside the site, however whilst this is fairly busy during the day, it is almost silent at night. The entrance to the site is quite easy to miss (its currently marked with a flag) and it is quite difficult to get in and out of the entrance. This is something the owners told us they plan to change next year with the creation of a layby and larger entrance.
All in all this is a wonderful, unspoilt campsite and we cant wait to return next season.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at this site. The owners have really thought about the small details, and the site is well run, clean and tidy.
The site is small - with only 7 pitches on the smallish field, but the owners are happy for campers to explore their smallholding and visit the many animals on site, so it feels as though there is lots of space.
There are two showers and 4 toilets - which seemed plenty, and were always clean. There is a small covered kitchen area where there are four gas hobs, a range of pots and pans, and two sinks. This was a really thoughtful touch, and meant we never got our camping stove out of the car. There is no hot water in the kitchen - but a kettle on the stove can be boiled for washing up water. There is also no electricity in the camping field.
Campfires are allowed, which is what attracted us to the site in the first place, and wood can be bought on site. This really added to the lovely ambiance in the evenings.
Many, but not all, staying on the site, had children, and our children (aged 6 and 8, ) absolutely loved it. Cars parked away from the tents meant it was safe to roam around.
There are a couple of shops/delis and a pub in the village. Meat from the farm is also available to buy - can recommend the sausages.
The site is about 30-40 minutes drive from lots of lovely places, (Southwold, Aldeburgh, Sutton Hoo, ) and so is a good base for day trips.
We were blessed with fine clear weather - great for the beach - but also created some perfect night skies with very clear views of the Milky Way.
The road is quite noisy in the day, but traffic does quieten off in the evening.
This is a simple, peaceful site, which will suit you if you are more interested in 'atmosphere' than a wealth of 'home comforts. '

My boyfriend and I had a really lovely long weekend here. We didn't spend much time on site as we were visiting family who were staying near Woodbridge. But the time we had there was lovely. Wish we could have spent more time there and explored the lovely local area. We kept seeing lots of 'Footpath' signs that we wanted to explore.
The actual site is very well maintained and peaceful. We had a friendly welcome on arrival. Although it took us sometime to find it as the postcode only took us as far as the previous farm. So carry on down the hill and look for the colourful flag.
The toilets and showers were kept very clean. There is a nice kitchen area to use. Although we didn't do any cooking. There is also a nice fire pit to use and some funky tables and chairs.
The only slight down side is the occasional road noise. I have never lived near a road so heard it quite a lot. But my boyfriend who used to live on a main road didn't notice it so much.
There is a really nice deli/coffee shop in the village where we went for breakfast. This is identified in the very useful little info book you get on arrival.
We bought some meat and eggs from the farm which has all been very tasty.
All in all a lovely little site. Would love to go back and do some exploring!

On arrival we were welcomed and told to find a pitch that we liked as there was only two tents on sit at the time,
Before choosing the pitch we checked out the toilet, showers and communal Kitchen, the loos and the showers were very clean, and very new, the kitchen had a couple of double burners and loads of spare pans, there is a fridge with a small freezer compartment in the camp store for refreezing blocks,
We only used the sinks in the kitchen as we cooked over a fire for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Which as an outside person and a bushcrafter I prefer to gas cooking.
On a side note there is no lights in the showers, loos or kitchen so you would need to take a light in there with you, the owners did say they were looking to install some solar lighting in the near future to over come this.
During the whole stay the facilities were kept clean and tidy,
There are a few items of produce on for sale, we bought beef and pork burgers, these were nice, had to be ordered as kept in the freezer, then left in the fridge for us to pick up.
During our stay, our little one and a friend spent loads of time with the other campers children playing around the small holding and with the animals, it is a safe environment for children to play. I would say that it would be handy it the site had a small climbing frame / play area.
The only real draw back was the road as it is busy, and could be noisy but this was outweighed by the rest of the site.
It was the first time that my girl friend and her little boy had ever camped, they both enjoyed it so much that we will be under canvas again very soon,
As it is only 1/2 hr down the road we will use the site for the odd couple of nights away, when we want a lazy weekend.

This was the first time we have been camping with our young kids (1 and 3 years old!) and we are so glad we found this campsite.
Set at the end of a smallholding with a variety of animals it was the perfect spot for the kids. It felt safe, they could go and visit all the animals and see the kittens and the mill and the pond full of fish and chase the hens.
The shower block was nice and clean and there is a set of working gas hobs for communal use with lots of pans to use. There is also a nice spot for a fire with wood to hire and sausages to buy - and even a swing-ball!
The hosts were ever so helpful and enthusiastic about their new venture. This was 'real' camping - don't expect smimming pools and a bar - but its ethical, small, fun and rural!

This campsite is fantastic for families. The campsite owners went to so much trouble to show our children all the animals, sheep herding, feeding the pigs, cuddling the kittens and stroking the baby donkey. It is brilliant and has a wonderful relaxed feeling.
The facilities are also very good and they have provided a shelter with 2 stoves and cooking utensils. The weekend we stayed it rained almost constantly but it didn't matter at all. We still used the outdoor showers which were lovely and warm, the toilets were spotless and all in all it's a fabulous campsite.
We saw something on a review site that mentioned road noise, this is total nonsense as the road is so quiet there is hardly any traffic.
If you want a 'proper' camping experience with lots of animals to keep the children amused, this is the place. It's 20 mins from the beach, 10 minutes to a shop, 5 minute walk from a very friendly pub and 5 minutes from Framlingham.
Will definitely return and wish the Campsite owners the very best of luck in their new venture!
