I write this review whilst still at the site, enjoying my last evening after a wonderful week in the glorious Cornish sunshine.
Cambrose Touring Park is a wonderful little site with a big feel. The owners, Graham and Jean are lovely, friendly people and were very helpful. The site is located in the gorgeous Portreath valley which is a sheltered location and a very good sun trap. Portreath beach and Porthtowan beach are 1. 5 miles either side of the site; I understand from others that you can walk to Portreath safely on a tram line but I never did.
Although dated in its build, the site is well maintained with bright, fresh paint, well mown grass and immaculate facilities. Graham can often be seen pottering round maintaining or cleaning various things. There was plenty of hot (not just warm, hot) water for the showers or the washing up area, morning or night. There are facilities for washing, drying and ironing clothes (all at additional cost). The swimming pool, although not tested, looked clean and well maintained but was not yet filled;mid-May the owner told me.
There is an on site shop, that seemed well stocked and reasonably priced, only open for an hour in the morning and late afternoon but open on request at other times. There is a games room that had a pool table and an old looking shoot em up arcade game in it, unsure of the state of those games. It also had a working tv, crt type approx 32inch, which could be used for terrestrial tv. There is wifi available supplied by a company called club wifi; 12 quid per week or 24 quid a month as of writing, it was fast ish but very unreliable. I found that my mobile phone (O2) networks own H+ internet connection was both faster and more reliable (although I did have to tell my phone to only use this signal and not the slower GPRS signal in the settings menu).
The pitches all seemed very level and well maintained with electrical hook up on most. Some pitches are in areas where some caravans are in storage although several were moved out and onto pitch plots during my week here so maybe they'll all go that way soon? A few pitches are close to a small kids play area, a sort of climbing frame come swing come slide type affair. One can imagine this being popular, and hence noisy! I noticed a small stream running through the fringes of the site, something to be aware of with kids. CCTV covers various areas of the site, which ones specifically I don't know but the cameras are at the entrance and should help with security.
My one and only problem with this site is its proximity to the road. Until very recently I'd lived just up the road in Redruth for over 10 years and I'm very aware that although labelled as B-roads, the roads into Portreath and Porthtowan are very very busy roads. Of an evening and in fine weather not only are they very popular routes for tourists but they are popular with boy racers and motorbikes, some full throttle some not. I like to sit and listen to nature sounds or people sounds but the road makes this very difficult. It did not affect sleep at all as most of the traffic I mention disappears at about 10pm ish. But during the day and of an evening the road noise was very intrusive.
In short though, this is a little gem of a place. A well maintained, friendly and clean site with good facilities. Will I be back? A resounding yes. Although as I write this last bit as 5 young lads on scooters go past tooting horns

We stayed here with our 2 dogs for 2 nights over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The site was incredibly clean, tidy and organised; we were given a choice of 3 pitches and as we were expecting our 4 year old Grandaughter on our second night we chose a pitch close to the small play park (number 25). This pitch has electric and is close to a small stream; the stream provided hours of entertainment for the children, wellies were filled to the brim with crystal clear water and squelched as they worked together building dams!
The toilet block is 100yards away; the toilets are kept spotlessly clean, as are the showers with good pressure and plenty of hot water! The laundry room has a freezer to re-freeze ice-blocks free of charge. There is a club house (which we didn't use) which had a TV and pool table in and was a great facility for older children to get together and make friends. The site is quiet, it has a great open flat area for games/walking dogs/children to run. Dogs to be kept on leads which was respected by all on the site. The swimming pool provides a bit of luxury with loungers available to rest in the sun; children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. The site shop is well stocked and very convenient, daily papers can be ordered. It isn't too expensive either! There is even a fish and chip shop which is open every other evening.
Overall, Cambrose is a fantastic little site, brilliantly positioned beside an old tram line which gives a traffic free trail to Portreath beach and village (1 mile away). Portreath has a Chinese takeaway, a famous bakery, Costcutter, beautiful beach and harbour, surfing school, cafes x 3 and 3 pubs! We highly recommend Cambrose Touring park and will definitely revisit, probably before the season ends!

We stayed here at Easter with the grandchildren and they loved it, there is a lovely little play area for the children and a heated outside swimming pool that the kids made use of, even though the weather was a bit cold. The toilets and showers are all very clean and lots of hot water. The people who own the campsite are very friendly and helpful. The site is not far from the beach and only a short drive to the shops and town. All in all a lovely campsite.

We had a very good 2 night stay on this site. It is easy to get to from the A30 which was great after a long drive down and made a good starting point to our tour of this lovely part of Cornwall. Friendly welcome and shown to a great spot on the end of the non electric field. We had lots of space and the field is very well maintained. There was a toilet and washing up area on our field but the shower block was a bit more of a walk but not a problem to us. There is a good shop on site and a swimming pool. The showers and toilets were clean, free and we never had to queue. The site is next to a road but is a country road and was quiet at night as was the whole site. We walked the old tramway to Portreath where there is a beach. Porthtowan is a lovely little place, nice beach, cafe, fish and chip shop and coastal walks. This site is in a great spot for access to all of Southern Cornwall and I would not hesitate in recommending it.

We stayed at this campsite for the first time this year Jubilee week, it was well worth the long journey down from Hereford. My husband and two of our children arrived first and were greeted by the park owners who were very pleasant. Myself and other daughter arrived on the train the next day and were once again given a very warm welcome.
The campsite is clean and there is plenty of space between tents there are a few caravans stored at the side of the site but that did not bother us.
The toilets and showers were very clean, the games room the children enjoyed as the weather was somewhat damp to say the least. We did have a few dry days, but it was still a good break.
The only thing I could complain about was the pool was very cold though it was stated that it was meant to be heated, it was infact colder than the sea.
But that aside the whole of the campsite is very clean and tidy, also the rule of being quiet after 10.30 was good, it is a family friendly campsite and our children made lots of new friends and so did we, people seem to go there year after year so hopefully we will see them all again next year.
There was one other little thing a deranged duck that thought everyone liked to hear him sing along with the dawn chorus most mornings but we did not really mind its better than being woken up by the land gulls that are around us in town.
All in all we will be back next without a doubt.

Site is quite small and in our opinion too squashed together, we were situated in the middle field opposite the stored caravans, not nice at all as we felt like we were in a car park. Even as you drove out the main park had stored vans scattered around.
The swimming pool was freezing, kids only ventured in thsi once and definitely not heated enough for this time of year.
Shop has a good stock of basic items and the owners were friendly when spoken to.
Would not go back to this one, sorry.

I cant speak highly enough about this site!
We had our first holiday there in 2010 and it was so damn good we booked a seasonal pitch for 2011! We managed almost 6 wks of hols last year and every one of those was just perfect!
The kids love the pool, the well stocked camp shop provides bits and pieces for when we cant be bothered to go to the supermarket, the showers and loos always SPOTLESS! The washing-up/laundry building was always clean, well-lit and plenty of flowers in pots to look at while you are stood washing your dishes. We use the washer (£3. 40) and dryer (£1 for 10 mins) often.
The owners, Graham and Jean are just lovely. They are happy to give any help or advice and if you need something the cant provided, they always know where you can get what you need. From caravan batteries, to good places to eat. They can help with just about everything.
This site is well loved and well looked after and it shows!
So, 2012 is now our second seasonal pitch at Cambrose. And we cant wait. Roll on summer when Graham opens his chip van!

We spent two great weeks at Cambrose and have already provisionally booked for next year. This was our first camping experience as a family and what a result, the owners Jean and Graham were fab and really helped us out.
The facilities albeit a bit dated were spotless all the time we visited and you could always get a nice hot shower. The games room was great for the kids and was a real meeting point for them, they met some really good friends and all enjoyed a great holiday.
The playground was great for the younger ones which also gave them something to do. They have a sink for cleaning wet suits which was a great idea, the ground on the pitches was lovely and soft so had no problems banging in the tent pegs.
Plenty of space to play, walk the dog (elsie our dog loved it) etc and the site was very quiet after 10:30pm which was lovely. The laundrette was really good, big dryer for your towels and a washing machine which was very reasonable cost wise, lots of local amenities and a tesco very close by.
The pitches were large enough for our conway trio and we had plenty of room to spread out. We did have a few electric problems when it kept cutting out but that was mainly due to sharing an electric point with a couple of caravans, this was soon rectified with an extension lead.
Portreath is a great beach and in walking distance, we all enjoyed the body boarding. Had a few days out at local attractions and everything seemed to be a small drive or walk away.

We came here for a week in May half term.
Fab! The owners were very accomodating and were happy for us to choose a pitch that suited us near the playpark, for the children.
The site is lovely and pitches aren't all crammed together.
The facilities were excellent, clean toilets and showers, never had to wait to use them. It's very handy to have a small shop on site for milk etc.
The 'chippy' was open a couple of times a week, although we didn't use it, it's a nice extra. The children really enjoyed having the pool on site and made good use of it. There is a free freezer for ice packs and a washing machine and dryer you can pay to use if needed. There is a TV and games room for those wet days.
There is a 'no noise' after 10. 30pm rule, which everyone seemed to stick to, which was great.
The site is well located for Portreath and Porthtowan beaches and Redruth is a short drive away.
We are definitely planning to come here again next year! Our favourite campsite so far.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Cambrose.
The site itself was back off the road but very central to lots of areas of Cornwall e.G Newquay, Portreath, Redruth and many more areas.
It is on the doorstep of Cornwalls Treasure Park where you can go and look at the various treasures or even pan for gold.
The site itself was very clean and the owners were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
The facilities were basic but very clean.
They have a bathroom for disabled as well as a family bathroom and these had everything you could need but there were only a couple of other showers for men and ladies. Although these were busy we didn't notice any queues.
The shop has your basic needs and the prices are as you would expect from a campsite.
The site has a couple of fields and caters for tents as well as motorhomes and caravans. Dogs are welcome under control.
There is a TV/Games room which was used freely but no-one seemed to cause any nuisance to anyone else.
The site has rules about noise after a certain time and everyone seems to stick to these.
The weather wasn't brilliant but that's our wonderful country, this did not stop the use of the outdoor swimming pool which was also kept clean.
We will definitely be going back to this site and recommend it to anyone who wants a break or a place to use for commuting to all areas of Cornwall.
