We visited this site in the height of the summer season. The site has a lovely friendly atmosphere and is super for families. The owners Graham and Jean are very helpful and went out of their way to help us who arrived on the back of a tow truck!
The site is clean with toilets and showers being regularly cleaned. Good playground, swimming pool, laundry and washing facilities. A lovely cycle ride(or walk). On the old tram way from the campsite to the superb beach at Portreath. Would definitely visit again

We stayed at cambrose over the bank holiday weekend and we have to say its probably the best site we have stayed at. Made very welcome by the owners who even borrowed us a cheese grater from their own kitchen.
Showers and toilets even though basic were always clean with plenty of hot water.Free use of a chest freezer to freeze ice packs. Well stocked shop with reasonable prices. Good size swimming pool. Huge pitches. Decent size playground for the kids.
Ideally located for touring southern cornwall, excellent beaches at perranporth (15 mins) and portreath (5 mins) beautiful st.Ives (15 mins) also a tesco in redruth (5 mins) for essentials.
The owner even opens up a chip van 3 or 4 times a week if you cant be bothered to cook. We will definitely be returning next year and probably for many years to come.

Went to this site for our very first weeks camping. Really nice site. Very quite at night time and the owners are extremely helpful. The position of the site is fantastic.
Really nice beaches nearby and also went to flambourds for the day which was brilliant for the children and us adults. Large supermarket nearby, would visit this site again.
We were in the top field which only had one ladies toilet and one mans which was a shame as it got rather busy first thing in the morning but bigger toilet and shower block not too far away and always had toilets available.
Showers always hot after a little playing around as units a little old and get quite steamy as not much ventilation. Owners work really hard to maintain the site and little shop very reasonable.

What a fab site!
We have just got back from 2 weeks at this site and what a pleasure its been.
We were on the 'bottom field' quite a bit from the showers, but it didn't matter, the stroll through the site was lovely at everyone is just waking up. There is a couple of loos on the field where we were and washing up sinks.
The showers and loos are old, but spotless. Everywhere just looks so well cared for.
A small pool thrilled the kids and were sometimes in there twice a day. Usually in their wetsuits as it is quite cold.
A chip van opens every other day, which was a great treat for the kids to pop up and buy their tea and a welcome break from cooking for mum!
Portreath has a lovely beach and is about 1 1/2 miles from the site same distance for Porthtowan. There is a lovely walk to Portreath, calling via a country pub.
Overall the owners, Graham and Jean have worked hard to make this a special site. And it is!
We had been seriously considering selling our caravan, holidays not being the best experience for a couple of years. But this has soooooo changed our minds! I loved every single second of this hol and that is 100% due to the relaxing atmosphere created by Graham, Jean and Pip the dog.

Just returned from a visit to this campsite and had a wonderful time. The site is relatively small but good, spacious flat pitches with plenty of hook-ups. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced and the local sausages were lovely.
We're still quite new to camping and this was brilliant site for us. The owner was very helpful and friendly, the showers had plenty of hot water and the family shower room was very handy. There is a small play area in the centre which the children all gathered around to play in and my kids had a brilliant time wanting to get back in the evening to play football with all their new friends. The site is a bit old fashioned but not in a bad way at all - more like the kind of atmosphere I remember when I was a kid - lots of fun and independence. The site is in a great spot with easy access to many beaches - would recommend the park and ride service (£10 for 2 adults, 2 children on train and all day parking) if you are going to St Ives on a busy day - impossible to park in town if you arrive after 10am.
While there were plenty of showers, toilets (which were always very clean), and hot water the mop bucket could have done with a bit of disinfectant to clean out the shower floor after you've used it. Also there were lots of mozzies around but don't let that put you off - just make sure you are prepared.
Overall a great camp a brilliant holiday and we'll definitely be returning.

Personally this campsite wasn't for me. The owners were friendly and the site had a good shop and nice outdoor swimming pool but the showers and in particular the toilets were very dirty. I never once saw anyone cleaning them.
The showers gave plenty of hot water but the floor was always soaking wet afterwards and there was nowhere dry to stand to get dressed. If I had my daughter with me it was a real squash in the shower cubicles. The shower and toilet block was very dated and old fashioned.
The site had a good laundry and washing up area with one washing machine and one tumble dryer.
My children really enjoyed the play area although I will say that if you have a pitch near this it gets very noisy from early in the morning until very late at night. If you don't have children it may be an idea to request a pitch away from the play equipment. There is a road that runs alongside the site which was very noisy at all times of the day and night.
As a location this site is in an ideal spot for visiting beautiful Cornwall. There are plenty of attractions nearby and a supermarket and petrol station just up the road. This is not the site for you if you desire peace and quiet.

I stayed at Cambrose over Easter 2010. I was very pleased with the location, ideally situated for exploring West Cornwall and I found it to be spotlessly clean with excellent facilities for either a tent or a caravan.
The showers and washing facilities were excellent and there is an on-site shop with all the essentials and a day room for amusing the kids during inclement weather. Graham and Jean made us feel most welcome during our stay and I look forward to seeing them again soon!

1st visit to Cambrose in August 2009. Can't wait to come back again next year. Thought owners were very friendly and helpful. Our pitch was next to the stream, lovely to hear it in the morning. It is a very sheltered site.
Kids loved swimming pool and play areas. Lovely showers and toilets - always nice and clean. Shop sold all essentials at reasonable prices. Didn't try the takeaway but was told by others that it was lovely food. Everyone was so friendly we felt as though we had been visiting the site for years.
Portreath only a few miles away, lovely beach and rock pools.
Hells mouth cafe few miles away well worth a visit for an afternoon coffee and slice of cake.

I have been to many camp sites on my own with my son as a single mum but I have never felt as safe and secure as I did in this site.
Everyone was helpful, kind and thoughtful, all the children played together and my son even had his first holiday romance!
This site is clean, tidy, family orientated, offering free heated outdoor pool, games room and plenty of loos and hot showers.
The owners are most helpful and friendly making you feel very welcome.
Close enough to visit most places, we went to Eden, St Michaels Mount, St Ives, Padstow and many other places but the best places we went to were the beaches ~ Kynance Cove, Church Bay and Godefrey were all National Trust beaches and just outstanding.
We were really sad to leave but will be booking to go back again next year.

It was our first visit to this site, camping in early May can be freezing and the idea of unlimited hot showers to warm ourselves up was enough for us to decide on Cambrose! What we didn't realise was the convenient location, a disused Tram track within a stones throw of the site allows you to stroll and enjoy the countryside without worrying about traffic; the track leads you to Portreath and the beach (APPROX: 1.5 miles). The site is immaculate, ample washing facilities, tumble drier.Even an iron! We are definitely visiting again, highly recommended safe and clean site, thank you!
