There are very few grass pitches on this site and they are next to the main road in and out of the site which does put you on view a tad and can be a bit noisy, also the pitches are a bit close together so you do feel like you should be picking your neighbours baby up when they are crying ( most of the night !)

The site is by the nature of it a bit noisy as you have a surf shack bar near by and the main club house isnt that far but it never kept our children awake and was mostly finished by 11 ish at night so to us not a problem.

The toilet block near to the tents really could do with a complete overhall - the showers work but that's the best that can be said about them, there is no where to put your clothes etc and there is a washer and tumble dryer inside the ladies so men can come and go as they please! - not ideal !

Also the washing up facility is just 2 sinks which are not even under cover ! I later found out that there is another block which is far better a couple of mins walk away in the back block.

There is a site warden who patrols the site and 'lives' in his camper van, perhaps we are used to staying on quieter sites but I found him a bit intrusive especially when he kept looking over our wind break to check our bbq was off the ground

The site has an excellent shop which isnt too over priced and had good opening times. Other facilities that we used on the site were the indoor pool, this was very clean and never seemed to get too busy, the outdoor pool again was heated well and the children enjoyed the slides.

We did venture to the indoor pool at Twitchen once as it has a fun mushroom but were disappointed that they only put this on for 5 mins every half hour (yes sad I know but we did time it ).

The children's entertainment at billys bar was very good and all our girls really enjoyed Billy and Betty beachball. There is an indoor soft play for smaller children and a free cinema which is great for rainy days.

We did go ten pin bowling which you do pay for but it is reasonable rates and nice up to date facilities. The children's playgrounds were very good and they especially liked the one at The Old Mill as did us Adults enjoy the food there which again was reasonably priced.

Woolacombe beach is lovely although parking at £7 a day is a bit costly, you can pay £4 per person per week to get the bus from the campsite. We also visited Croyde beach which was good to watch the surfers.

Just a few mins away from the camp site is Borough Farm and every wed evening 'Mist' the sheepdog (kids programme on channel 5) does a sheepdog show and there is also a falconry display, its a great show and well worth a visit.

We also visited the Big Sheep which is good day out for younger children although it is about 45 mins away.

Had a great time here but this is not a quiet tranquil site. I would return to this site but probably not in a tent.

Just returned from our excellent sunny, hot week at Golden Coast.

Stayed in one of the Clematis Appts and found everything to be clean, tidy and usable.

The only thing I could say is that it could do with a bit of an update but we got a very good cheap deal for the first week of the summer holidays so I cannot really complain especially as they mended the bathroom light very quickly after I blew the bulbs.

Food and bar prices a little high but didn't stop us using them, average pint price £3. 50ish.

The entertainment, especially for Kids, is excellent. Mum and Dad laughed lots. Chris and crew were brilliant and my son really enjoyed getting Mum up to do the Billy and Betty dance, and yes, Mum now knows all the words.

Pools are to be recommended as are the amusements. The 2p machines are great for little ones.

Used facilities on the other sites as they come as part of the package. Although the walk to the beach from Twitchen certainly used the leg muscles.

Didn't use the Woolacombe Bus as we like to be at the beach early but at £4 per person per stay it certainly makes sense if you want to avoid the £7 charge per day for the carparks in Woolacombe.

Will return and was sad to leave especially as I couldn't book for next year cos I don't know when Hubby can have his hols.

Brilliant site and I can't praise it enough.

What a great site - the best 'commercial' site we have stayed at. We loved it from the minute we arrived, the warden was lovely and would go out of his way to help you, in fact all the staff were great and pleasant.

We stayed on the pea shingle pitches near the outdoor pool which were great (avoid pitches 26 and above as they face the shop and not much privacy - check the on-line map)

Toilets and showers etc were basic but fine and always clean, shop was great and so many free activities (pitch and putt, snooker, cinema)

We paid £4 each for the open top bus weekly pass that took you to the beach and other sites in the group.

Woolacombe beach was one of the nicest I have seen also Ilfracombe and Combe Martin lovely to visit.

Go to their sister site - Woolacombe bay for the afternoon, brand new crazy golf, play area and outdoor bar terrace all with fantastic views of the beach.

Would definitely return to this site we met so many people that went back year after year and I can see why!

Great stay no bad points. Loads for kids to do at reasonable prices, beer in club a bit pricey.

Shop had loads of choice and very reasonable. Pitches very spacious but need rock pegs. Showers and toilets clean.

Staff very helpful.

Will be going again but if you check price on net you may get it cheaper.

We spent a great week at Golden coast with mixed weather & had a fantastic time.

I used to come here with my parents & watch them put a tent up in the pouring rain from the comfort of our car! now it was my turn to put our caravan awning up whilst my kids watched me get soaked!

The pitches have all recently been relaid with a pea shingle hard base (no grass for awnings). Whilst good for drainage it was a nightmare for our 1 year old, who could not have the normal freedom that a grass awning pitch gives, as he was trying to eat the small stones, which incidentally get everywhere (just like sand!)

The pitch had a tv aerial point, our own water & drainage and was ideally situated close in between the main complex & the massive shop which sells everything but can be expensive.

The best advice I can give is to make sure you have enough hard ground pegs (rock pegs or such like) even so they will take ages to hammer in & still pop out!

The toilet/shower facilities consist of two blocks at opposing ends of the site, one is new with unisex showers & toilets flanking the perimeter of the building like an old fashioned outdoor loo found on old houses! the other block was older but clean enough & I had no complaints when using this facility.

The site is ideally placed for the excellent beaches of North Devon, there is a Tesco superstore in Ilfracombe (difficult to find unless you know where it is).

The site offers every imaginable facility from the excellent indoor & outdoor swimming pools to a small cinema showing various films daily, there is evening entertainment for kids & later more adult oriented, we often use Haven sites as the kids love the entertainment, unfortunately this is nothing like that but still enjoyable.

I love this site despite some downsides including the cost of drinks (£3. 90 for a pint of lager) & outdated shower facilities & we will be coming back in a couple of years time. Make sure you book early as there are fantastic discounts available we booked 9 months in advance & saved over £120

Another great stay at Golden Coast and a quick tip for those going soon ( I don't think the offer will be on high season ) if you book and pay for next year while you are staying there you get it for half of this years prices. Were going back next Easter :-).

The pitches are great well drained and the water grey waste and electric is at the back of each pitch, there is also a TV point which gives good DTV reception.

You do need rock pegs and a good club hammer to get them in.

There is not much to add to some of the other comments on here we love the place. The staff are all great nothing is to much trouble. What is good is the fact tourers and tenters are treated just as well as others on the park, not given a grotty corner of the site as some other of these family fun parks do.

Shop on site is well stocked and open 8-8 every day. The bar and food prices are a bit steep but have a few bevvies before you go out. The kids will love it here, you'll all have the Billy beachball song in your heads before you leave.

Go, you'll enjoy it unless you are after a quiet out of the way place. ( saying that we never had a problem with noise on the pitches )

Golden Coast is a great site within the Woolacombe area, facilities were superb. Pitch and putt, indoor pools, football pitch, bowls, tennis courts all free with some requiring a deposit for equipment. Evening entertainment was good. Weather was great for time of year but unfortunately outdoor pools closed until peak season

Toilet facilities are basic but clean. Warden on site very helpful as stated by many other viewers. I would say that Woolacombe bay is the best of the beaches in north Devon area, Ilfracombe fairly nice, Westward Ho, Bideford, Appledore disappointing. Good shopping centre in Barnstaple.

Overall very pleased with the site, disappointed with north Devon compared to the south of Devon

Just returned from here after a weeks break, luckily the weather was spot on, however the pitches would cope well with any weather, all pea gravel pitches now and most are level and have water / electric / drain and tv point and all of a good size.

The warden was 100% helped us out when our towbar needed tightening and was constantly walking around picking litter and making sure everone was ok. Had a problem with residence in a chalet behind us for a few nights, but the manager and security were spot on and they got removed from the site the next day.

Toilets/showers were always clean, the site was full and only waited for a shower once. Facilities on site were ok, swimming pools (3 of) were good however the outside one got packed due to the good weather. Takeaway needed to be worked on as the food was normally well over cooked and you have to wait a while to get it.

I recommend the Old Mill Pub on site for a meal, prices are ok and the food good, however the site is clean and tidy and we will return again at some point.

Had a nice time, Site a bit hectic for us and pitches quite close together not a lot of grass either. Shop a bit expensive but had all you needed.

Site very clean and tidy and in a very good spot for Woolacombe and surrounding beaches and surrounding area. All facilities in very good order and well maintained staff ok.

Very commercial site and would recommend if that's what you are looking for, not our cup of tea though, but no real complaints, maybe a little noisy if anything. But definitely won't put us of Woolacombe though

On arrival, our pitch was slightly damp due to the rain the previous day however within two days it had turned into a quagmire with every step we took being a squelch! The site was very muddy and streams were running through the site due to what would appear to be very bad drainage.

We requested a move and were given excellent service by Richard, the manager, who moved us to one of the new pea gravel pitches. We had help from Sandy, the very friendly site warden. This pitch was excellent but they are in limited supply - we were just lucky. By the time we left, the majority of the camping area had been closed off. Rumour has it that the remaining hard standing pitches are going to be converted to pea gravel for the 2010 season which will improve this site hugely.

The site is however a nice site if you have the right pitch and there are plenty of facilities to choose from. It just needs some money spending on it to bring it up to the standard of its sister park, Twitchen.

Would I go again - yes - providing I had a pea gravel pitch and got a good price like I did this year.
