Golden Coast is a great site to see North Devon.
We stayed in pitches near the toilet block and had 5 pitches between our group. All were large enough for large tent car etc.
Toilets/Showers were great always kept clean with powerful warm showers each one in a separate room of its own so you felt private with space to dress etc.
Groundsman was fantastic, very friendly and always there collecting rubbish and making sure everyone was ok.
We had quite good weather so pitches were dry etc. I therefore cant comment on what they would be like if it rained a lot.
Security was good, and you can ring them if you have any problems with noisy campers and they arrive promptly to sort it out. Although I don't understand why parents of toddlers think it is fine to sing loudly, call their youngsters and let them play with recorders etc from as early as 5.45 in the morning.
Golden Coast site is the nicest of the four Woolacombe Bay parks, although you get use of all four. Their outdoor pools are amazingly warm you can float for hours. There are also a couple of good indoor pools at this site, please beware you need to pick up swimming tokens for each person when you arrive from reception to get into them, do this BEFORE walking down to the Cleveland House pool. The bowling is good, there is also pitch and putt on site and various other free or cheap things to do.
Only problem if you have teenagers is that they cant use any pools alone until age 18, felt a bit silly to have to babysit our 16 year olds at the pool and meant they could not just go off and use them etc.
Biggest criticism was evening entertainment, bingo was set in between two kid sections which mean adults without tiny people had to endure that while waiting. IT was also extremely loud, no need for it and not good for kiddies ears either. The kids were also quite noisy throughout bingo which was annoying. The shows for adults started at 10pm seemed very late and were not that great at all. We therfore ended up going out of siting playing cards on campsite most nights.
Food on site was also of poor quality and overpriced, the shop was fine and offers most items. There is however many places within a few minutes drive where you can go to eat quite reasonably so if you go with car this is no great problem. Fish and chips in Ilfracombe is very cheap indeed.
Woolacombe bay park has a spa which gives you one hour free use per stay plus one hour use with each treatment. Massages start at £18, eyelash tint £7, so very reasonable and we enjoyed it there a lot.
We found visiting Easewell a bit depressing and dead, lady in shop not pleased we entered as she had washed floor.
Twitchen House had crazy golf which was ok but nothing special but worth a visit.
Woolacombe bay is fantastic although at the moment there are many jellyfish, don't know when and if they go. Ilfracombe is run down but has a cinema (bit old fashioned and small screen) showing latest films. There are also sea fishing trips etc that go from here that are excellent. We took the teenagers out and caught several Tope Shark which was unexpected and lots of fun.
We went to Watermouth castle, aimed at little ones but we had two teenagers and still managed a good day there playing on many old penny machines.
There are a lot of amusements aimed at younger people in the area but as we had none this time we avoided them.
Best food and cream tea we had was http://www.Larkstonecafe.Co.Uk/, pitch and putt there was also a lot of fun if a bit hilly. They also have other games to play and nice outlook so worth a visit.

We visited this site in a large group. We were very pleased with the site overall and have to praise Sandy the groundskeeper who was always friendly and helpful. We will return to Gold Coast at some point in the future.
The site is large and would compare it to some of the best haven sites it has good facilities, the shower and toilet blocks have recently been modified and are very good. Despite enjoying this holiday and the site we do have a few negatives aboout the site.
1 the adult entertainment in the club we felt was poor except for the band Beardsmith who are very much worth a watch.
2 the price of the beer (upwards of £3.50 - £4.00 a pint)and the price/quality of the food in the take a way on site. I would recommend a drive into Ilfracombe if you want good fish and chips.
We visited the old mill for a few nights and although the drinks are expensive you can sit outside and watch the kids on the well equipped park at teh pub.
The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced however for a better selection there is a new Tesco about 4 miles drive from the site.
The beach is a nice walk (avoid the spar en route massively overpriced, I wanted some deodorant lynx was £5.00!) of about 20 minutes away although returning is all up hill, there is also a garage right outside the site for petrol.
We had some lovely weather whilst we were here and the beach gets packed and one day we drove down to the beach and it took 45 minutes due to the sheer volume of traffic.
Watermouth castle is very good for younger children (3 - 11) and fairly priced.

Well once again we were pitched on number 49, I must say that the pitches were all looking rather unkept, it seem that a lot of damage was done last year and these pitches have not been touched at all, however, they have worked on pitches on the other area, these are nice new hardstandings with water point & drain. Blocks may be needed as some pitches are sloping.
At the start of the week the water in the main showers block seemed to struggle to keep warm, although this did seem to be fixed later in the week. This shower block also suffered from very wet floors, shame no mops were provided. The older smaller toilet block seemed better and both were kept clean.
We heard that the pitches we were staying on would have new hardsandings next year :o). They really do need doing, we had a river running through our awning and it was also rather muddy.
That all said, this park is still one of my favourite sites to go to, lots for the kids to do, including a free children's club each day, for both the younger and older members of our group. Swimming, Crazy Golf, Pitch & putt etc is all free to use, other things are available at a small extra cost, unlike Haven sites we never felt we were being ripped off. Bungee run £1 for 5 goes, bowling we got a deal as there was a group of us, so we got it for £2.50 per person for an hours bowling. :o)
The onsite takeaway is a little pricey, much better to take the short drive to Twitchem, much better food and better priced.
Once again the on-site shop provided well (its a fair drive to large supermarkets) and it was reasonably priced, lots of items price marked.

Golden coast offers plenty to do for the kids although the teenagers in our party didn't have much to do. I did feel a bit let down with the pitches as ours and several others got a bit muddy with the rain however these pitches are to be upgraded for the 2010 season. In the entire week I stayed there I only managed 1 hot shower the rest being luke warm so this are needs improving as do some of the door locks which were inoperative. The Fresco shop on site is reasonable value for money which is just as well as the nearest supermarket is either Ilfracombe or Braunton. You are able to visit all other parcs in the Woolacombe bay holiday park group and use their facilities which includes crazy golf and pitch n putt. There is a play area for under 5's where you stay an play with your child and you have to sign in and out and its supervised as well so a thumbs up to that, the older kids loved the indoor play area and amusements.
Overall we have enjoyed the week here and will willingly go back again but some minor improvements would make this place outstanding.

The site has excellent facilities. The entertainment was great. The kids had a great time joining the kids club and meeting friends. We all had one of our best holidays ever at this site. The staff were really helpful and polite. We would definitely recommend this site to others. There were plenty of showers that are kept nice and clean. We used the pool at another site it was easy to get to and was also well looked after.

Just come back from this site. Very impressed asked for a pitch near the toilet block (always a good idea when you drink beer during the evening which we got, pitch 150). Nice sea view and lovely and quiet. Took my wife, son and his friend (both 15) and dog. Kids mostly enjoyed it went to a couple of the other sites for different activities. One problem is that if the kids are under 18 then they cannot go to the swimming pool unless accompanied by a adult this also goes for the rock climbing I believe (Health and safety gone mad). The idea was the kids could enjoy themselves swimming etc etc while me and my wife went walking and out and about, but they still found things to do which is usually quite hard at that age. But anyway that was really the only downside. Apart from that a good site. Oh and the little 9 hole pitch and putt is ok too.

Great site. Would highly reccomend it. Stayed in the far field with a good selection of clean toilets and showers. Some of the play equipment needed mending but it was the start of the season. Lots of places in the park to eat out and the entertainment was brilliant. Well done charlotte and team. Their is an onsite hairdressers and very well stocked shop. Lots to do you will never get bored. But you may get lost looking for it all lol. It is a brilliant site and will deffinatly go again.

We stayed on pitch 49, just behind the shop and near to both of the toilet blocks, the larger toilet block is unisex, and was kept clean during our stay. The smaller older block was also kept clean, and the ladies had a washing machine and dryer in.
The shop onsite was one of the best that we have seen, plenty of choice, lots of BOGOF offers, and most things priced marked, we managed to do all our shopping here and didnt have to visit a superstore once during our stay.
Lots to do onsite for free, pitch & putt, bowling, swimming pools (indoor & outdoor) etc. And other activities such as climbing wall and ten-pin bowling for an extra charge.
You can use the bus £2 per break per person, that will take you to the other sites, or down to the beach.
Entertainment was good, mainly for under 12's, and a star act on each night, drinks a little pricey, but so are most clubs at holiday sites.
All in all a super site that we will be returning to, however, I expect that it could get very, very busy in the peak season, so we will stick to the quieter weeks. A+

4 years after the last time. A fantastic place with fantastic facilities that makes for a fun and active family holiday :O)
Entertainment staff are fantastic so friendly and the kids loved them! Billy Beachball top dude! dont forget your free t-shirts kids! entertainment every night with audience participation :O)
We were on pitch 48 just behind the shop which was the top of the field which is gently sloping theres plenty of bricks for levelling the caravan if you haven't any. There hiding in the bushes! and if your awning/tent is getting muddy look in the yellow bins behind shop for cardboard :O) we did
2 toilet blocks the one on bottom field is a little bit nippy on the feet, take an old shower mat. This also has an undercover plate wash. The toilets that are at the top are warmer and heated also have a washer/dryer,but the plate wash is outdoors lovely in summer lousy in winter! all toileting facilties were spotless and cleaned daily :O)
Woolacombe beach is a must we actually got a sunny t-shirt day and spent a few hours soaking up the sun :O) its got s stream running down the centre with divides the dog/non dog section, the stream is great for the kids to splash around in if the sea is out too far!
Theres several free swimming pools to choose from and several playparks too, indoor soft play is free aswell as a small cinema too.Crazy golf is free only a small deposit, returned when putter and ball goes back.
On the sister parks theres other amenities that are open to all guests staying in the woolacombe bay parc complexes.Worth visiting all these parks to see what they got.
We will definetely be returning :O)

Stayed on bottom field which is nice and quiet and close to the short cut to the mill and bottom pools. This was our third year at this park and the weather was rank, not the parks fault but a little more support would have been appreciated all other campers left leaving us the only tent???.
Pros.
1. Great entertainment. We love Billy and Betty. Party dancing great.
2. Lots to do in poor weather, ten pin bowling, play area and the pottery shop is the best.
3. Shops good stocks most things needed.
4. THE MILL this is the best holiday bar ever. When the weather was poor(most of our holiday) the staff were really friendly and the food was great.
5. Toilet blocks, showers and wash up clean and covered.
Cons.
1. The bottom field is down a hill and we were flooded for most of the holiday.(We needed to cross our home made pallet wood bridge which spanned the stream of water running from the top field across the front of our tent, not easy with a new born baby)Staff did not help or offer any assistance.
This is a good site but did suffer from poor drainage, great if the weathers good.
