I have just stayed at calloose caravan park, I found the site clean and well maintained. The pool was hot and the children loved playing in it. The park was also very good for the children. The toilet blocks that have just been refurbished was clean and the showers were lovely. The park is in a beautiful vally setting bound with wildlife and flowers, this site is excellent place to unwind and relax I would recommend to anyone. I will definitely be back next year. You can obviously see the site is back to its best

We found this site very good, no trouble with drainage. It stood out how the owners were on the ball keeping the grounds looking good & tidy. Found the staff were pleasant & helpful as we decided to stay an extra night as the weather had picked up & was told we did not have to rush to pack away on our leaving day. Thought the toilets/showers were adequate & had no problems with the temp of water. Overall a lovely pleasant site, will be going back in the future

Just returned from a week at Calloose. Quite nice overall but many things they advertise in the brochures are not there. For example, crazy golf, shop (closed). Toilet blocks and washing up facilities could do with a makeover or, at the very least, a good clean! There were dead flies all over the sinks.
The play park area was lovely though, as was the pool (which was heated). However, it was a bit of a ghost town staff wise. On our arrival there was no-one on reception, it was like the Mary Celeste. There's a bell to press for attention which we pressed for the best part of 30 mins but no-one came. We'd travelled a long way with our children so this was not ideal. Eventually a member of staff pulled up and told us to pitch where we liked and that he'd tell the owners of our arrival. We never did see the owners for the whole of our stay which was quite odd and I went to reception loads of times but there was never anyone there.
All in all the site is pretty and the grass well-kept. Lots of space for your van, awning and car.

On first sight what a lovely site, pleasant views and location and beautifully tended gardens. Sadly the layout of this site which is criss-crossed by the only road and the central location of the toilet block made for a very noisy site. Toilets were cleaned at 5am each morning (cleaners arriving by car at this time too) which woke most people, also the main facilities are at the far end of the sit, necessitating all the delivery lorries driving past most of the tent pitches. The site could have been really nice though, but I understood that it was going to be under new ownership from September - and this was entirely reflected in the general state of haphazard maintenance / cleanliness. I wouldn't come here again, but if you have already booked for next summer, I would imagine it will be run with a bit more care and attention and result in a lovely site.

A Nice relaxing site . We enjoyed our stay at Caloose , but the previous reviews are correct about the football pitch and the mountain bike track. The toilets are in need of refurbishment although they are kept clean . The pool is the warmest of any I have used . There was a tennis court available , but it was in dire need of refurbishment. There is a club on the site , which was not too loud and there was no problem with rowdyness .
While we were there , we were told that the existing owners had sold the site and new owners were moving in that week , so possibly the site may be returned to the great site that it obviously once was.
I have no complaints about this site , it is placed inland but this means it is an ideal location for travelling to either coast , Hayle and Gwithian are only about 5 miles away , Porthleven , Helston and Praa Sands are only about 6 miles away in the other direction.
During our stay encountered very heavy rain , so the touring fields were very waterlogged . However , some of the pitches are made of granite chippings which , despite my initial misgivings , turned out to be a godsend.
Would I visit the site again ? Yes , definitely .

I again agree with the recent reviews, just returned and the site was tidy, toilet blocks were cleaned daily and rubbish collected but the site was using its previous accreditations to keep the site going. I think the toilets needed a lick of paint and slightly updated and the site would be so much better. Someone suggested pots of flowers, all cheap but effective or just needed loving a bit more! Recycling would be a good addition as already stated. Unfortunately as a touring unit we also faced high winds and torrential rain which meant the grass lanes were swamp like and undrivable at times and nothing was done except putting down three flattened basket crates - not a good plan. The play area was handy and my daughter used the pool happily. The site is secluded and a car is essential. In Gwinear there was a little corner shop which dealt with essentials

Having just returned from this site, I would pretty much agree with Jamtans comments - nothing has really changed in terms of the facilities ie. Crazy golf not there, mountain bike track non existent, football pitch was overgrown.
Having said that, the site is really nicely laid out, looking around, all the pitches appeared to be large. Shower block was kept clean, water was hot most of the time. Bins around the site were emptied daily, it would have been nice to have seen recycling facilities.
Didn't really use the shop as we passed through Hayle most days so could use the supermarket there.
The boys used the swimming pool every day I think and they were happy with the temperature of it.
It is a nice site in a nice location, I would certainly go again.

We as a family of 2 adults and 2 children decided this year we would camp during school terms at the weekend trying out various camp sites within an a short distance where we live.
One of those selected was Calloose at Leedstown as this rated reasonably favourably in the AA Camping Guide.
We did thoroughly enjoy the weekend but there were a few things that did niggle us slightly that were advertised to be there, but weren't actually available and presumably wouldn't be for the whole summer. Calloose is supposed to host a crazy golf course, skittle alley, moutain bike track amongst a few noted facilities. But these were either closed or simply not available. A shame considering that these were the things that had probably earnt them the good rating. Telling children in advance that this is what they could expect and turning up and finding something different is a tad disappointing.
The pool and playground were fantastic however and we were fortunately blessed with sunshine.
The shop is a little random for opening as it is suggested and really doesn't stock an awful lot. That said, there are supermarkets reasonably near by.
Calloose is in a wonderful location and the wildlife and scenery is beautiful and well kept.
There doesn't however seem to be much provision for recycling and this is fairly important considering the amount of rubbish we accumulated in 2 days!
I would imagine that it had been in previous years a pretty fantastic site, but in parts it is starting to look at little old and tired and could do with a little revamping.

Having visited this site several times in the past in their static caravans and having many happy memories we decided to visit it touring.
The site is set in a beautiful valley inland ideally placed for visiting much of this area.
I can only say I was saddened and disappointed that this site no longer hits the excellent standard I remember.
As a dog owner we take our dog on holiday regularly and make sure we clean up after him and keep him on a lead on site as the rules state, so we were surprised that some people had several dogs that were not on leads and allowed to roam free, and there were several incidents when dog mess was left on path up to dog run, as well as horse mess from the horses that now are allowed to walk through site.
One of our other gripes was the showers were cold for 4 days and made washing a nightmare, and the heated pool was not vary warm either.
Dont want to put anyone off if they have booked already because this is a nice site and they will enjoy it, just hope the owners read these reveiws and act on them,Calloose make sure your guests stick to your rules for everyones sake and fix your showers

The site was very clean and tidy but drainage of the pitches were not that good, susceptible to flood and after other tents moved from the pitch there was a terrible smell from rotting grass cuttings under the ground sheets because of the lack of drainage. Toilets and showers in the block for us were not too good the showers in the toilets had no pressure and me being a taller than normal female found the shower heads at my shoulder height. The toilet cubicles were very small and to get into them you had to be a contortionist to get into. In the new shower rooms in the same block were much better but the floors were always cover in lots of water because of the lack of drainage from the shower area and the toilet rolls were set behind you head so you could not reach them without having to stand up whilst using the toilet. The site shop was shut more than open during the day which was not very good during peak season. I'm afraid I will not return to the site in future.
