A lovely site to look at when we arrived. Pitches are quite close together and our pitch was covered in stones and we bent loads of pegs. It was very noisy at night and no one seemed to care. No speed limits as the regulars drove as fast as they wanted. Shower/loo area floor always wet and slippery and no warning signs. The drive was covered in pot holes and no security. Bins always emptied regular and grass cut nice and short. Very central to this part of Cornwall.

Just returned from 7 night stay at Calloose in our touring caravan (with my Husband & our Pug, Mabel) - firstly, in an effort to ensure that others do not have same horrendous experience as ourselves, please ensure that you do not follow sat nav directions & turn down single narrow 'dirt track', which scratched both sides of our caravan with overgrown brambles. After continuing down this lane, it soon became apparent that this was not the entrance to Calloose Caravan Park! We had to continue driving forward (with caravan in tow) until we reached a point where we were able (with a struggle) to manoeuvre caravan and car to face forward, in an effort to get out of lane. After unhitching caravan & using our caravan mover, we eventually managed to get both car & caravan out of many potholes enroute. During this awful experience, a very kind local lady who got 'stuck' behind us on this dirt track, explained that many others before us had done exactly the same thing! In our opinion, the direction signs to Calloose at this point of the journey are also misleading. This is due to the fact that the direction sign is located at entrance to the afore mentioned dirt track & is easily misinterpreted as being the entrance to the site. When we eventually were able to continue our journey and find the correct entrance to Calloose - we discovered that the single lane and all other roads on site are extremely narrow, with overgrown bramble bushes, which isn't ideal when towing a caravan.
The site itself is very pleasant, although all touring caravan pitches are not very spacious. We also discovered that approximately 80% of caravans are 'seasonal' pitches, which sadly gave a 'permanent caravan site' feel. We had pitch number 64 which was central to these 'seasonal' pitches.
We had a lovely holiday and would emphasise that this site is very nice, just not for us for reasons described above.

This was our third return visit this year! We've been coming to Calloose for the past 5 years and we LOVE this family run site, staff extreme helpful, shower areas cleaned twice a day, sadly some guests do not leave the facilities as they wish to find them. The shop/office on site has knowledgable staff who are always on hand to help and advise on good Cornish places to go and visit. In addition, this summer daily fresh home made cakes and cream teas were available to purchase at very reasonable prices.
Although in high season the site gets very busy, it shows what a popular and well regarded place this is. Sadly the previous person who commented, was very much incorrect when stating 80% of the pitches are seasonal, this is definitely not the case, a more accurate figure is 20% ( I was sad enough to to count them when I was there in he summer. Some friends visited us this year and loved it so much they have booked 3 weeks in a static next summer!
If you fancy a game of tennis, it boasts a single court, in addition it has a small crazy golf area and the outdoor heated pool is always clean a warm, however if I had one criticism it would be the old plastic furniture needs replacing. Entertainment in the bar area is nightly and of good quality. Bar food is also available in the evening. I agree the entrance road is narrow, however there are passing areas, I'm not so sure anything can be done to improve this point. Defiantly the good points outweigh the very few bad points. All in all I would recommend Callose 100%

This is our fourth year at Calloose usually taking our own touring caravan. Due to family coming down to Cornwall we stayed in a static, a real treat. Great van. Lots of space for all five of us and as usual great location for sightseeing. The site was full but still clean and tidy. The staff were helpful in everything we needed ie not potato masher. No problem was given one from the shop. Can't recommend this site enough. Kids loved the pool and went in every day on our return to site. We didn' use the pub or club this time but have in the past and is always busy and good fun. The site was quiet by just after 11pm every night and this ment we all got a good nights sleep so were ready for exploring the next day. Brilliant part of Cornwall.

We hired a caravan on this site (we usually camp) for a bit of luxury. The van was very clean and large (3 bedroom). The park was very clean and tidy, we walked around the camping pitches and was very impressed we may return with the tent. The staff were very helpful and supplied new cooking utensils without us even asking. The site roads are very narrow so you have to drive very carefully as there are children about. The pool looked clean and was well used although we did not use it. The site is well placed for visiting most of the attractions in south west Cornwall. The only thing we could make a comment on was the 'free unlimited wifi' the coverage was very poor and hit or miss whether you could use it. The clubhouse served food which looked good although we did not partake. It would have been good to have the bar open in the afternoons so you could have a cold beer.

A lovely family site. The static caravan we hired was spotless. The site is beautifully kept with a lovely little stream running right the way through which my kids loved to paddle in. The children play area kept my kids entertained for hours, as did the games room and swimming pool. We had a nice meal in the bar which is nicely decked out. My family had a fabulous holiday here, very relaxing and friendly site.

We were really disappointed with this site, on arrival it looked lovely, but after a couple of days we decided it wasn't for us, the pitches are too close together, the wifi doesn't work, the toilets although cleaned regular never seemed overly clean, the floor was always wet and dirty, all in all very tired looking, push button showers were terrible. It could be quite noisy well after midnight on a couple of occasions due to certain campers. The only upside was the kids loved the games room and pool. The location was poor too, wont be staying again

We stayed here for a week in one of their wooden lodges. The lodge was spacious and very clean. The decor was a little dated and the furnishings worn around the edges but this did not detract from the comfort of our stay. The location of the sight was lovely, in the middle of the countryside. We went during termtime so the site was quiet, we had the pool to ourselves most of the time! My son enjoyed the playground and the grounds were well maintained and clean. Our dustbin was emptied on a daily basis and there was always a gardener working on the maintenance of the grassy areas. I notice that another reviewer has commented on the lack of staff around. This is true, we picked up our key from the empty office desk and left it in the same place when we left, there didn't seem to be anyone around! Still, we had no problems with anything and it was nice to be 'left to it'. I would recommend this site, I can't comment on the toilet block as we had no use for it but the pool and playground were fine. The location was spot on with st ives a short drive away, it was a great position for exploring the south of cornwall. My only criticism of the site was the restaurant and bar area. It was dated inside and a bit 'working mans club', it didn't really match the rest of the campsite's image, and the food was basic and not very good. The staff were friendly though and there was seating outside so you could enjoy a drink in more pleasant surroundings. Would definitely stay here again.

Returned to Calloose for the 21st year in a row. Swimming pool has been refurbished and water currently nice and warm. Gents toilet block refurbished with new showers and washbasins.
I find the site extremely well placed for all beaches in southwest Cornwall.
Staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Site shop is open daily at 8.30 and has basics like bread, milk, papers and frozen and tinned food. A good range of camping accessories in addition to gas.
Laundrette is good with three washing machines and three tumble driers.
Bar has food and a good range of beers and cider. Entertainment provided by family in the low season but nightly visiting acts in the high season. Can't wait to return and always have a good time.
Safe for children and well away from main roads. Enjoy!
