I like this campsite but do feel it overcharges when compared to it's surrounding sites such as Perransands. In May we paid £20 a night for 2 adults & a tent which seemed pretty steep.
+ the final insult was needing to pay 20p to shower. They did give you time but it's hard to enjoy it when you're scared of your change running out mid shampoo.
All facilities are kept very clean but they are old. You have all you need. The pool is nice & non attended which for us was good. Maybe not so good for children but it's nice to go somewhere that caters more for adults than children for once.
The site was peaceful, friendly & clean. But finding a flat pitch is hard.
The location is excellent & if the showers were free & the price a little more competitive I'd be giving this site a 10.

This is a great little site in a perfect location for Perranporth.
We arrived at 09:00 and the owner allowed us to have a wander around first to ensure we like the site and could find a decent pitch. We did find one so went back to pay and it cost £23 for two adults in a tent without electric. The site is quite uneven, but you can find flat spots and level the van / tent, etc.
The toilets and showers are more than suitable and were kept very clean and always stocked with toilet roll etc.
There is a small cafe on site selling breakfast baps, etc. However we did not eat there so cannot comment.
We took the stroll to Perranporth beach which took around 15 minutes down the hill, and wow what a beach. Miles and miles of sand at low tide and such fun. There is a great bar offering lovely food on the beach called The Watering Hole and there are a lot of choices of eating places, pubs and shops in the town. We ate from the takeaway chinese and it was a smashing meal.
We did not really use the site other than to sleep and what we did use and see was more than suitable and the location sells itself.

Spent a week here, great view of Perranporth from the site entrance, site was quite large with No pitch markings so tents/vans etc, Very close together, we were 3ft from our next door neighbour, car's parked anywhere on site so beware of young children running between them !
Nice little shop on site, that opened twice a day, A take away food shop too opened twice a day, did not try it so don't know what it was like.
The toilet/shower block was a jumble of old buildings painted white, when it rained the floor got washed in the mens toilet, open drain so smell most of the time. The mens shower was cold, the tiles on the wall had black mould in the grout & cracks, that was my first shower, next shower I tried the water, never got hot so didn't bother.
The was Not a cheap site, if it was I would still Not recommend it

Spent a week there & on our arrival there was no electric but the owner did everything to help us & we ran a long lead & got it all sorted.
This is our second visit & we love it here, so close to the town & beach.
The site is small & cosy & the loos & showers are all you could need & they've had a coat of paint so way good enough for me & my son who needs 5-star your camping not in a hotel.
We will be back & thank the owner for his help.

We have been coming to this site for a few years now. It is a gem of a place, quiet, peaceful and so relaxing. The price is very competitive considering you can walk into Perranporth every day without worrying about parking. Yes it's a bit tired, the amenities, but it's all here, the laundry room was a boon for me when the weather turned nasty. I rang for prices on other sites and found some a lot dearer. My family are coming with me this year as they like the way they can walk to the beach. You cannot please all the people all of the time but this site certainly pleases me, try it it's worth a look. This will be my main destination hopefully for many years to come.

I selected this site because of its close proximity to Perranporth, a 10 minute walk away. Unfortunately this is about the only positive thing I can say about this site apart from the cleanliness of the facilities which saw little use.
Initially I tried to phone the site to make enquiries but no answer. I tried again a week later, left a message, and eventually received some info in the post. The info was not very clear and I couldn't work out what I would pay for a 3 night stay as most of the information was directed towards people staying for a week at a time. I decided not to book in advance especially because a deposit was required and the deposit applied to stays of a week or more.
I arrived around lunchtime on Sun 19th, went to reception and waited, and waited, until someone eventually answered the bell. I decided to only book 2 nights and was charged £36. If I wanted electric that was another £4 per night which I thought was extortionate for what is only a 6 amp supply.
There are no marked pitches on this site apart from the 4 Hard standings which measured 16 x 6ft.
The site is sloping with very few spots resembling a level pitch and it was not easy finding one. No help was offered.
I found a spot and later decided to put my head down for for a nap. I was woken by the sound of motorbikes or what sounded like several bikes which I thought must be on the road adjacent to the site. I looked out of the window and there was a young lad driving a quad bike around the field where we were pitched. This went on for quite a while. I went down to the office to complain. He said he'd get him to stop.
This site has no disabled facilities and is off limits to anyone who has mobility issues. The area around the washrooms is both steep and uneven. There was no hot water for washing/washing up etc. And the showers require you put 20p in a meter and for that you get just 6 minutes of hot water. There is no heating in the blocks. The toilets need an overhaul, at least one of the toilet pans was cracked.
Everywhere underfoot surfaces are uneven and not level.
The site is also supposed to have a shop, food outlet and clubroom amongst other things and none of these were available.
So what did we get for £18 per night, very little. A pitch, water and use of the toilets, and a lack of consideration by the owner.

My second visit. Stayed for 4 days this time.
Short walk to Perranporth beach, and a great base for exploring further afield.
Shower facilities were fine (20p), plus a pool for the kids.
The site is situated in a hollow, and is laid out on several levels, with conifers providing some shade.
Friendly staff, and the free mobile phone charging was much appreciated.
TBH, I don't care if you don't visit, because I love knowing I can roll up and pitch where I like!

Area: lovely. The site is a short stroll from a great beach and a nice little town (so no need to park in town). A great holiday spot that I visit every year. You can eat in a number of pubs/cafes. Also the pasty and ice cream shops are excellent! Also there is a selection of pubs and shops.
Site: A small ish site (which I like) set on a few levels. The owner gave us a choice of areas to pitch our small tent. The weather was very changeable with torrential rain, high winds and bright sun all in one day over three days. But we were able to find a sheltered corner with hardly any rain and despite the soaking the grass was very well drained- very good. There was a selection of caravans to rent and some electric pitches.
Facilities: As other reviews point out the toilets and showers etc are a bit old and basic, but clean. They are laid out in a slightly strange way, confusing at first. They could do with updating. Also early risers like me take note: the showers are not unlocked until 07:30. The site has a bar, small shop (which appears from no where out of a garage!), outdoor pool and a pool table. To be honest you don't need a lot more because Perranporth is so close by.
To be honest in this day and age I usually avoid sites that do not have an online presence. I like to have a good look at places and I like easy booking. I'm guessing that this site has a number of return visitors so don't feel the need to advertise. However, I will be returning- so all good

This is a great site within walking distance of one the best surfing beaches in Cornwall. We only had one week this year but we will be back for two in 2012.
The toilets and shower blocks are old fashioned but always clean, with the added bonus of a bath.
The swimming pool although cold is free to use the temperature did not stop our two boys from playing in it when they were not surfing on the beach.
This is a very family friendly site the shop will even charge your mobile phone for free.
Definitely worth the little bit of effort required to book.

I liked this site, it's in a good position near the town and the beach. Perranporth is lovely, lots to do if you're into surfing/the beach/bars. I think they accept dogs at this site as there was one on site while we were there (on a lead). Perranporth seemed very dog friendly in comparison with places we've been to in Devon where they ban them from the beach/campsites.
Facilities: Camp shop, club house, games room- these all have limited opening hours off-peak. There's an outdoor pool which is a decent size.
Toilet block: Yes it's dated but it's clean and all in good working order. There's a plug in the ladies wash room so you can take a hairdryer. Stock up on 20ps for showers, 20p gets you eight minutes of lovely hot water with good water pressure- benefit is that there aren't any queues. (Unlike sites where they don't charge and people stay in the shower for hours).
Cost in 2011: £7 per night per tent pitch, plus £7 per person per night. 2 people sharing a tent for two nights = £42. I think Gazebos/pets/hook up etc are extra.
Good points: Near to town and beach. Lively laid-back site, definitely recommend for surfers and groups- some sites nearby won't accept groups so it's nice to be welcomed somewhere! Site has good drainage- it threw it down while we were there and no puddles or problems.
Bad points: Nothing terminal. It's a bit expensive but it's in a good location. I do like to book but there's no website for booking or an email address. You just turn up! I think you can snail mail a booking form if required, but it was fine, they had lots of room.
They don't have marked out pitches, but again it wasn't a problem. The only problem I had all weekend was when I needed the loo at about 3am one night, I was a bit miffed to find there was no light switch in the loos under the clubhouse- I think the switch is behind the locked door- it was pitch black in there. I had a torch so not the end of the world by any means.
Camping tip: Earplugs and an eye mask- if like me you value a good nights sleep, don't let other peoples snoring/quiet chatting ruin a lovely trip. Sleep well and be happy! :-)
