For me, this is the perfect site. Camping old style, turn up, pitch up and the owner will collect site fees daily. No minimum booking, sensible get out times (4pm when its not busy). A flat reasonably sheltered site. Some noise from the A299 but not so much that it bothered us. No shop, amusements or pub on site, just a play area and basic amenities.
Plenty of hot water for washing up, showers and toilets functional, free and clean. There's a village shop 5 mins walk away for milk/papers etc. Also 2 pubs in the village (which we didn't visit so can't report on them). Its a nice cycle ride to Minnis Bay and a not so nice one to Birchington (you have to go along main roads so do-able but not as nice as the cross country ride to Minnis).
Loved this site, long may it continue.

The toilet block only had two showers for ladies and two for the men, there were no doors on these only shower curtains. I can't say the facilities were particularly clean. The pitches are level, although on one side of the field with the electric hook ups you have to go under trees to hook up. Not ideal. The playground was very good for children.
As a couple we found this site very noisy with dogs barking constantly and when I mentioned it to the owner he wasn't very interested. Also we prebooked this campsite and when we queried the price we were told there is a £1 booking fee, we were not told this when we booked. We also heard someone else querying so this is something you are NOT told about. No receipts were given at any point and the owner would come round again to be paid even if you had paid for the whole time previously.
There are two pubs in the village which is within walking distance.
I must admit we were not impressed with this site, I think if you want just a one nighter it was fine.
Don't go here if you want a peaceful weekend.

I and Alex came to Margate to view the Transit of Venus which we of course could not do with the sky being overcast. But we spent a pleasant night at St Nicholas from 10pm to 4am.
The management was flexible and took cash by post and I like any places without too much red tape. I had expected rough terrain but the place was not huge just a nice large enclosed field studded with a few caravans and tents.
The toilet block and showers were neat and clean and warm and we had space in the tent to ourselves and spent a night in the tent fairly dry under pouring rain. The location is not hard to find and less than a mile from local buses.
I would recommend it for anyone that wants a quiet reasonably priced friendly place without too many fancies.

Stayed here on the jubilee weekend with some friends. Feel that the prices are on the steep side as charges are for the pitch plus £2. 50 per person and £1. 50 for children, even under fives on a basic grass pitch with no electrical hookup. On top of the £11. 00 for the pitch itself.
Gazebos and kitchen tents are also charged extra.
The toilet block was basic but acceptable. But be warned that the hot water is absolutely scalding hot at times (and ran out this morning).
There is a small play area for children which kept the kids entertained.
Very pretty village with a good pub just up the road, great access to the rest of the area via the Thanet Way.
Not a deluxe site, basic but acceptable.

A lovely site within a lovely village, clearly sign posted from the main routes. Two pubs within a couple of minutes walk and various other shops but with limited opening times.
Very clean showers and toilets and all included in the cost of £15 for a tent and 2 adults. We didn't see much of the owners, only when they came for the pitch fee in the morning.
We chose this site as we wanted to cycle along the coast and it was a super ride through the fields to Minnis Bay.
If we were just staying on site we may of found this a little boring and there are no activities etc.
Will definitely go again for the location.

First time at this site and we have left with every intention of returning very soon.
Very easy to find as well signposted. The site has extremely level pitches which are clearly marked and sizes are generous. You can choose to pitch shaded by trees, or one completely open as pitches are chosen on arrival.
The site facilities, although basic were enough for our needs. 2 sinks for washing up and 1 for clothes washing. 2 showers which were clean and ran with constant hot water.
One thing - make sure you are well stocked as shopping facilities are limited nearby - noted, that's not the sites fault.
Nice base for surrounding areas and reasonable rates.

We have been to this site quite a few times now and always enjoy our stays.Nice level field surrounded with hedges and trees. It's a great value for money venue ideal for families with children on a budget.
The showers/toilets are clean but basic and there is a small play area for the kids(No amusement arcade!). The owner is very pleasant and relaxed and there is a small shop for essentials.
The village is lovely with two good pubs and a village store. Ideally located for either beaches or countryside with Sarre, Herne bay, Canterbury, Birchington and Margate all within a few miles.

Just returned from St Nicholas at Wade. We liked the 'turn up and pitch' approach. Mr Basil Broadley the owner collects your payment each morning or you can pay for your stay in full.
Toilet blocks are adequate with two hot showers, sinks, three cubicles each in the men and womens. You may find yourself sharing the shower with the odd snail or spider but that didn't bother me. Two washing up sinks and one clothes washing sink situated outside the toilet block. Newly built disabled toilet/shower
Waste disposal for caravans. Electric hookups available. Small play area with climbing frames, sandpit, enough room on site for bat and ball games.
Kent Int. Airport is nearby and we saw the Red Arrows fly past very low. The village has two pubs that serve food. Post Office in village sells tea/sugar etc. Even open Sunday till 11am.
Village hall has information centre. Birchington is 2 miles drive away, has cafe's banks etc. The cost was £15 per night for hookup and two adults. We will be returning, hopefully with better weather!

Good value for money site. Had all the facilities we needed four our first ever trip in a tent (ie loos & plenty of hot water in the showers & washing up block).
Our 6 year old daughter loved playing with other children on the site in the playground and was disappointed that we couldn't stay longer. Situated in a quiet & pretty village.
As others have noted the only drawback is traffic noise, which is only noticeable at night and didn't stop us from getting a good nights sleep.

I endorse all the comments made by other reviewers on this site. Additionally I would like to add that the site gets extremely busy over the August bank holiday. This affects the relaxed and quiet atmosphere, as it can be quite rowdy. Don't let that put you off at other times, as it is VERY relaxed most of the time.
Having used the site many times over the past 14 years, we find it very conveniently located. Our children have insisted that we return each year, turning their noses up at the thought of 'posher' holiday locations. Our grown up son takes groups of his friends here most summers, where they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the walk to Minnis Bay which can be accessed just along into the village, past the Church.
