My partner and I visited for 3 nights and found the site to be clean and flat and ideal for tents with enclosed surrounding trees and bushes for privacy, we felt the toilet and showers could be improved as the shower cubicles had curtains and the showers for me in the mens was not that hot, I also felt the kids play area would be better placed away from the toilet/shower areas but in general the owner was pleasant, we too didn't see a shop about but didn't really look around for it, we would visit again.

This site is a small field that you can just turn up and pitch.
We went with a group of 9 adults and 10 children. The children loved the play area, which was perfectly situated to keep an eye on them.
Showers were fine always warm. Nearby local pubs are nice, we had a great sunday roast at the Sun Inn.
It is worth going to Broadstairs for the day and Whitstable for the Oysters!. All in all this site was cheap and cheerful and I would recommend it.

Great cheap site. Plenty of electric hook ups. Showers and toilets are basic but clean. The children's playground is basic too but children can be seen from anywhere on site, my 5 year old daughter is more than happy to spend all day playing there.
The man who owns the site is polite enough and collects his money each morning, you just turn up and pitch, no hassle at all. Small village shop and 2 nice pubs within few minutes walk and if you drive its pretty central to many beaches. This was mine and my 4 children's third visit to this site and will go back time and time again.

A lovely friendly site. This site is very safe for children and has a decent playground.
The site owner is friendly and very helpful, the first time we needed a hook-up he came and sorted us out and explained it all to us. Loads of hot water all day - big bonus. A couple of local pubs serving excellent food. Lovely walks all around and if you listen and look up you will see wild parakeets flying. Nice little local market in the village hall some Saturdays. All in all a very nice site, just how it should be.

A large flat field in a small village makes this a great location for those wanting to camp in close proximity to the coastal resorts or as an overnight stopover for France. We stayed here to bodyboard at Joss Bay. A few minutes walk from the site takes you to 2 nice looking pubs, the field also overlooked by a lovely church spire.
The site wasn't too busy and was surprisingly quiet in the two evenings we spent there. The campsite owner collected the money each morning. We did look for the shop but did not find it, is it still there?
The shower facilities were bit tired but clean with 2 showers in the ladies and 5 toilet cubicles. Hairdryer attached to the wall but it hardly blows any air out! I can imagine showering would be a challenge if the site was busy. Washing up area also clean with 4 sinks, bring your own washing up liquid.
The site has a small play area for children (swings, small slide, a roundabout set on concrete hardstanding(!), and what looks to be an empty sand pit). The field area seems safe for children to play as its easy enough to watch them from your tent as they run about in the field. Play area in need of updating.
My only big gripe would be the noise from the nearby dual carriageway made worse by the wind direction. I wouldn't let this put you off though, its a nice all round site.

This is how camping should be. Very relaxed with the owner coming to collect the money each morning. Facilities were basic though clean and more than good enough. When the wind is in the wrong direction, there is some road noise from the nearby dual carriageway but this would be our only grumble.
The village is pretty with a couple of pubs. One looked posher than the other so we gave that a miss and were rewarded with an excellent welcome and fine food in The Sun.

I stayed here for a few nights for my first camping trip solo with just my 2 children.
The site is a small field in a quiet little village. There is a small play area for the children although the children were disappointed the sand pit was empty.
There are 2 showers in the ladies (i assume the same in the gents) which you could adjust the temp of. Which is good with a toddler. The water pressure is low however so washing hair can take a time.
The toilets and washing up facilities could have been kept a bit cleaner

This was our first time camping with our three small children, and we really liked this campsite. The field itself is spacious with ehu's on the right hand side. The toilets, showers and dishwashing facilities were adequate and clean with plenty of hot water. Our children loved the play area - climbing frame, couple of swings, roundabout and a sandpit with digger. There are two pubs within a few minutes walk. The nearby shop is not very well stocked, so you would need to drive somewhere if you wanted a supermarket. Although the site is set back slightly from the A299 the traffic noise did disturb me first thing in the morning, but that would be my only complaint. Overall opinion is that St Nicholas is a nice, basic site and we would go back.

Lovely site, overlooked by only the spire of the parish church and well hedged to keep the wind down, good sized level pitches and dryer ground than we were expecting after the days of heavy rainfall. You can hear the traffic on the Thannet Way but only as dull background noise, which the bird song nearly drwons out. The owners were laid back and relaxed, and came round to collect the money. The sign at the entrance says to check in when you arrive, but it didn't appear to be expected, just find a pitch and set up! For the previous reviewer - the shop is tucked away round the back of the farmhouse nextdoor and is the site office - I couldn't comment on the stock as it was closed when we arrived, and we had no need to go round there afterwards. Basic shower and toilet facilities, but adequate for the amount of campers on site, I would expect it to get busy in high season as there were only 2 showers in each block. There appears to be work converting an existing building into another shower/ wet room. The female showers were very spidery, which gives me the judders - I wouldn't go after dark, but the male block seems to be better (according to hubby). On the positive unlimited water and proper heat adjustments so no scorched toddler. Childrens play area is nice with climbing frame, swings, sandpit and roundabout, but not enclosed and quite near the open entrance to the site. In the village there are two pubs opposite each other both of which serve food, and have nice child safe gardens, tho since the no smoking ban, its a nicer atmosphere inside. The pubs are walking distance from the site, but not with small children as its a narrow lane without a footpath and the cars come fast down it. Only 10 mins drive from the blue flag beaches of the isle of Thannet. Similairly to the small town of Birchington which has 2 small supermarkets and other facilities. There's a helpful list of the local amenities including doctors etc on the toilet block wall. The clickable map link for this site is wrong as it shows the Frost Farm Caravan site on the Thannett Way, if you look on the areial photo and come towards the village you will see the campsite.

Arrived midweek and the campsite was reasonably populated, but generally quiet. At the weekend, the number of tents / caravans seemed to double and the site became busy and at times noisy. A quiet word with the management resulted in some late night patrolling (large dog in attendance!) and a more peaceful night's sleep. Toilet facilities could do with some modernisation but plenty of hot water and no real problems servicing the large number of people on site. Will definitely return next summer.
