Just got back from Maynards campsite in Arundel. Spent 6 days there and can honestly say what a lovely campsite. The owners made us very welcome and the toilets and shower block was spotless. The weather was great and the price to stay was even better. Arundel town centre is about a 15 minute walk. A lovely beefeater pub right outside the campsite, that serve lovely food, I recommend the fish and chips. Will be going back there very soon.

This is the second time we've stayed at this campsite and what a delightful campsite it is. The gardens are kept nice and neat although we found the ground slightly hard to bang the tent pegs into but we got there.
The surrounding Arundel town is a short walk and the countryside is simply stunning as is waking to the birds singing in the morning.
The receptionists and staff are very pleasant and helpful. They even offered to plug our mobile phones in once they had ceased battery charge.
I can't wait to go back

I left it very late to book a pitch with most sites for the August Bank Holiday, and found one at Maynards.
The previous reviewers made me expect the worst but on arrival I was very surprised at the neatness of the site, the fresh flowers especially around the toilet block.
I was greeted extremely well on arrival and given assistance to park my rig in the correct place.
I did speak to the owner, and she said they had only taken over the site at the beginning of the year and will be busy updating the facilities. Some tiling has already been completed in the shower and toilet block and once the high season is over, they will be carrying on with their upgrade.
There is a CDP for your toilet cassettes, which is not mentioned anywhere.
Everybody I spoke to on the site were expecting the worst, like me, but all were 100% happy with the site. I just hope they follow my lead by saying so.
Yes there is only 5amps at the electric point, but if you don't use an electrical kettle you should be okay.
August BH was going to be my last trip this year, but have decided to go back for October half term.
Oh yeah, the prices are really good as well!

Went to this site over the spring bank holiday. Weather was a bit let down but found this site very good value for money, at £19 for 2 people, one tent, 2 nights. Can't beat that.
Showers are sufficient clean, pitches in good condition, We did struggle driving the pegs down though. Back to A27 so can her road traffic but not too disturbing.
Great location to visit the region. Right next to a Beefeater pub, a petrol station, a Macdonald and a stone trow to Littlehampton
Owners not over friendly but helpful and it is what matter. So if you not a campglam person, I recommend this site. ++

Nicely situated site for places to visit. However, the shower facilities need some updating and the water was cold by the afternoons.
The gents toilet doors had a 2ft gap at the bottom of the door which gave limited privacy for sitting and contemplating, as gents are apt to do.
The site could do with its own shop on site, but there was a garage close by which had basics. The Crossbush beefeater restaurant at the edge of the site was a disappointment, limited menu and not cheap either.
There were no facilities ie. Playground for kiddies. The pitches seemed to be very close together, it would have been hard to put caravan, awning and car next to each other as some other sites request.

Not a bad site really. Cheap and you get what you pay for. The only niggle I had was the EHU kept tripping up. In the end I gave up and turned the fan heater off. Have never had this problem at any other site. But the location is pretty convenient and Arundel is a great little village. There are some great antique stores there as well as an impressive castle and cathedral. This site reminded me of the sites I used to stay in growing up in Australia as a kid - with the brick open air type toilet and shower blocks.

When we arrived at the campsite we knew instantly that we had made a mistake. We stayed a big 30 minutes. It was right next to the A27 and next to a Premier Inn. It really wasn't a pretty site.
The plot we were given was highly inappropriate for people with Children. There are seasonal residents living in old caravans here and we we placed opposite them. My 3 year old was simply playing in the gravel doing no harm, when a resident told us to control our children and he has to live here. Well, we just couldn't stay after that as how can you expect children not to play. There is not a playground as such it's just a bit of green playing field.
Didn't visit the toilets/shower.
We were given our money back but the manager/owner was not happy about it, but I don't think she was surprised!
If you were to stay here I would advise you to stay up the top and not by reception.

We had a really pleasant one night stay at this delightful campsite. It's really well maintained, and was a perfect location; a 1 hour riverside walk in to Arundel in one direction, the same in the other direction to Littlehampton, or 5 minutes by car!
For us it's the perfect type of site, quiet, good location, and a friendly pub next door. I think the shower / washrooms might confirm 'camping sceptics' thoughts about what camping is like, because they're old and a bit draughty, but to long timers like ourselves, they were fine, spotlessly clean, and plenty of 'facilities'(so maybe not the place to take first timers!). We didn't have our kids with us this time (off on their own Scout camp), but as long as they're well behaved and don't make a nuisance of themselves by making too much noise, kids seemed to be welcomed, but it's definitely not the place to take a large bunch of them to run around.
The only bad experience we had was being woken by the sound of lots of dogs barking, carried on the wind from some nearby kennels and, then somebody angle grinding at 8.15am in the adjoining boat yard.
Definitely a good and well locationed site, that we'll be returning to.

Have been to this site several times now and have enjoyed the stay each time. The staff helpful and polite, electric pitch a bargain @12.50 per night. The pub just fine. Usual beefeater menu but outside seating away from the road outside the hotel. Very near Arundal very pretty village and castle. Some nice places to eat and you can walk by the river.

On a hot summers weekend this was the only site in West Sussex that could accommodate us at short notice. On arrival staff were pleasant and friendly and this is the cheapest site we have stayed at. We were directed to a flat level pitch of reasonable size for a campervan and awning.
The toilet block is functional and regularly cleaned but dates pre-war as do the spiders! You could hear the road (A27) but not enough to keep you awake. There is no onsite shop as such but there is a 24HR garage less than 5mins walk. Although basic there is ample washing up facilities, sinks for clothes washing and you can freeze your ice block for free in a chest freezer.
Left on Sunday at our own pace, no kicking-out time. Overall its fine for a night or two but wouldn't recommend for a week.
