Well after reading all the 5 star reviews and paying £37 per night with hook up we were expecting great things. Unfortunately we were somewhat underwhelmed.
The site has quite a number of sloping pitches, which in itself isn't too much of an issue, but the pitch we were allocated was barely big enough to take our average sized caravan.
The toilet and showers were nice enough so no complaints there. What we did think though, was that, as mentioned, the pitches were not large enough, with not enough room to put a car, van and awning on.
The upkeep of the site was not brilliant, there were nettles and weeds around our pitch and I got stung while packing up to leave.
The site "road" was made of the very large roadstone which normally has tarmac on top, and there were large stones on the road which wouldn't do your tyres any good.
The grey waste disposal point was very poor, your waste water carrier has be lifted and held in place whilst draining. The toilet water was a little better but not much, a bucket lid in the ground, not much thought gone into either of these disposal points.
To us it is not a bad site but certainly not a site we came away from thinking we will be back soon. We have stayed at a couple of sites costing similar money and getting fully serviced pitches and hotel quality facilities. In our view the site is not good value for money, sorry.

What a little gem.
We were travelling across country, and looking for a pitch for the night and fell upon this one.
Clean, well organised. A warm reception both on the phone and on arrival.
Tasteful and clean shower block, beautiful setting.
Easy walk to the pub, for a limited but welcome food.
We'll be back.

A lovely peaceful site, although near the A50 and M1 there is very little noise occasionally you can hear an airplane from East Midlands Airport, but mostly just the birds.
It's close to Donnington park race circuit and near to Nottingham and Derby with plenty to do nearby.
The Jolly Sailor pub is a 5 minute walk and 15 minute walk to castle Donnington where there's shops and restaurants.
The hardstanding pitches are a good size and level, with some of the grass pitches on a slope.
There's 2 lovely bathrooms which are clean with a excellent shower.
The owners are friendly and helpful.
The only improvements would be to have a couple of extra toilets it was quiet when we were there but if there were more campers you might have to wait for a toilet!
We will be going back.

What a wonderful little site. 18 pitches, a few hard standing, in a lovely setting run by Floyd, a very friendly and helpful owner.
It's a 5 minute downhill walk into Hemington village, where there's one friendly pub that serves nice beer. It has a limited menu of sarnies or pizzas, but both were very nice.
It's a 15 minute uphill walk to castle Donnington, where there is a good selection of independent, friendly restaurants and shops.
Minor downsides; when coming down the hill looking for the entrance (which is on the right), keep your eyes peeled for the entry lane and small green sign, which aren't brilliantly clear and secondly, the site could do with one more toilet - lovely as the existing ones are.
Highly recommend this site and will be back again when next in the area.

What a gem of a site. Floyd and Deborah made us feel very welcome, we knew we were on a sloping pitch, but our ramps were not big enough.
Floyd even got us some wood to try but when this failed we got moved to another pitch which was more than adequate.
Cannot thank them enough. The vintage caravan was a sight to behold, beautiful and very tastefully done out. The toilets and showers were immaculate. The owners work hard to make this work for everyone.
This was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. Donnington park is very close by if you fancy the racing.
The village pub the jolly sailor is a few minutes walk from the site, no shop in the village, but Donington is about a 10 - 15 min walk depending on your fitness as it is uphill.
Cannot praise this site enough. If we could give it 11 we would.

Spent a couple of nights here as I was visiting Nottingham at the weekend.
I'd contacted Floyd the owner beforehand to let him know I'd be back from Nottingham late on the Saturday night so he allocated me a spot near the gate to minimise disruption to other campers.
As it turns out that is the flattest area of the site, most of it is downhill towards the pond and sanitary block. There was only one other tent on site down near the pond, where it is almost flat.
Very peaceful and quiet, some flight noise from E Midland airport but not intrusively so.
The pond has ducks and moorhens and one morning I saw a heron there.
The toilets are probably the fanciest I've ever seen on a campsite almost like a bathroom in a house. There are only two of them but as the site wasn't full during my stay didn't experience any issues accessing them.
It's a short 10-15 minute walk to castle Donington where there is a Co-Op, Aldi and other shops.
Probably my first experience of an adult-only campsite and actually missed seeing children enjoying the camping experience but I would probably stay again if ever in that area.

Absolutely perfect little site. Perfectly situated for beautiful walks and a great pub just a few minutes walk from the site.
The owner is really friendly and the site is very well kept and the toilets. All I can say is hotel standard.
Would definitely recommend a stay here and we will most certainly go back.

The site is very quiet, which we loved, but we were the only people there.
The gardens and surrounding countryside is beautiful. The toilet and showers were nice, but certainly not the luxury facilities that was advertised. No heating in there, so not great in the colder months. The washing up area is outside, open to the elements, so no good if it rains or in cold weather.
Quite expensive compared to other high end sites we have stayed at.
Not somewhere we would visit again.
