Delightful little site, on a hill, but the hardstanding pitches, although quite narrow, are pretty much level.

The shower/toilet blocks are spotless and very tasteful. Short walk to The Jolly Sailor pub in the village and a couple of nice walks to the nearby villages of Lockington and castle Donnington.

In Lockington, there's an amazing little tea room called The Green Room, check it out, it's great.

In castle Donnington, there's some nice shops and the, site owners own a bar called The Apiary, which is nice.

We will return to this great find.

A Parson’s Egg of a Campsite: good in parts.

Date of stay 27-29/9/2024

Daphne’s Orchard is a beautiful location. The main part of the site has 17 pitches, a Shepherds Hut and their “Stargazer Barn. ” With only a few of the pitches occupied, the site itself was certainly peaceful, but if more fully occupied it would not have the same feeling, I am sure.

We did not see the owners. Had they popped round to check on how we were settling in etc, I would have happily discussed the issues below.

The two shower-and-toilet rooms were very clean and pleasant.

The site is let down by the basic amenities. There is only one water point, and it is not well sited. It is situated at the hedge between two pitches, whose occupants might reasonably feel rather invaded if the site was busier than during our stay. The grey water disposal point is a FloPlast Universal Hopper, raised about a foot off the ground with some bricks in front of it. I can understand another reviewer saying it was difficult to use with a roller barrel. The adjacent chemical toilet disposal point is an untidy affair with a bucket lid over a galvanised funnel. There is no drive-over grey/clean water emptying point for motorhome users.

The runway for East Midlands Airport is less than a mile away, as the crow flies. There were 11 departures on the Sunday morning between 0555 and 0700, before the frequency dropped off, and the noise was quite obtrusive – enough to affect sleep.

Castle Donington is a short walk away, and has several places to eat (including the site's owners' Apiary), a superb Deli, and some interesting shops. And more hairdressers and barbers than you can shake a stick at!

So, a beautiful location with a good shower-and-toilet block, but poor basic amenities that need upgrading, and you can expect be woken around 6am to the sound of aircraft taking off less than a mile away.

Lovely landscaped site with excellent facilities.

Close to lovely village and good walks.

Easy to find off main roads but once there pretty quiet even with airport in vicinity.

Lovely site, very peaceful. Clean and tidy.

Short walk to castle Donington, which is an interesting little town.

Some lovely walks from the site.

Toilets were very clean, but only two bathrooms, so would benefit from a couple of extra toilet cubicles for busy periods.

Overall a gem of a site.

Peaceful, small site with excellent facilities.

Toilets and washing up area spotlessly clean.

Flat pitches and well maintained.

Nothing to dislike but be aware of noise from the nearby airport.

Lovely site hard to believe there is such a busy road network so near to it.

Very picturesque site.

Spotlessly clean.

Good public footpath to castle Donington.

Loved this little site. Emailed Floyd to book, had an immediate reply, which was perfect. We booked Thurs eve until Sunday. Told which pitch no and sent all site info we would need, including gate code.

We couldn't get EHU to work, so even though it was late Floyd came out to help.

Weather was perfect which always helps. But we had a really lovely time. Pitch was plenty big enough for us - three adults and two dogs - sat out with canopy up, table and chairs. Yes, it was on a bit of a slope but okay with chocks.

Walked to Jolly Sailor, had yummy pizzas. Walked to castle Donnington, after a good walk round ate at the Apiary ( site owners bar) lovely food and drink.

Overall a lovely site and area would go again.

Easy access into the site and good directions and information on the pitch and access code.

On site EHU was close to our pitch. Toilet and shower facilities were very clean and had everything to shower with.

Grey waste and toilet waste available on site. Also an outside washing up area.

Quiet site with lovely tree lined views and a pond. The weather was kind so a few very pleasant days.

Short walk to the local pub. A little further to walk, 3/4 mile, to castle Donnington with shops and other facilities

What a stunning site. Beautifully clean and well stocked facilities. Washing up area had everything you'd need. Well spaced camping areas. Although grass pitch isn't level easy enough to use ramps.

So many different walks direct from site, all dog friendly. So easy to walk to castle Donington at least 3 different routes, or walk to the next village of Lockington across the fields to the excellent coffee shop The Green Room.

The Jolly Sailor is a jolly pub and the pizzas very reasonably priced.

Yes there is the odd aircraft taking off but it's not a noise issue.

All in all we had an excellent 3 night stay

Site location 9/10 because there was nowhere decent to eat on a Friday/Saturday night within walking distance

Thank you
