Site facilities are very good and clean.
Great cycling from the site an cycle paths, although more for mountain bike than a road bike.
My pitch wasn't great following the overnight rain, area in awning waterlogged and when leaving I was underwater. So keep to hardstanding.
The site feels like a real escape.

Site well laid out and spacious.
Toilets and shower are clean and hot, good pot washing area.
Toilet and grey waste well signed.
Set in woodland with plenty of walks close to go ape and other activities definitely go again but longer

We spent 2 nights winding down after our month long trip to the Lake District, perfect.
A fairly new camping in the forest site run by Camping and Caravanning club, £20 pn for a hard-standing hook-up pitch, with other options to choose from.
The walks around the forest directly from the site were ideal.
Facilities were excellent, duplicated so that there was never a time when all were closed.
Even a dog wash, laundry and back-packers drying room, as well as a drive-over drain for motohomes.

It's was clean, in wonderful surroundings with a great park for the kids.
Absolutely ideal with the many trails for bikes and runs around the forest and a stones throw away from the visitor activity centre!
Really really lovely 😊

This for us was an excellent site. It is spacious, well laid out and has plenty of clean and well maintained amenities.
The staff were polite and the arrival meeting/briefing was thorough.
If you are a cyclist, then this is ideally situated for immediately getting onto a variety of forest trails for the spectrum of abilities.

Spent the weekend here with friends and children and found it to be a really nice campsite. Great location to get onto Sherwood Pines so the children loved cycling around there, we had 2 nice big pitches with room for gazebo, cars, camper, tents and awning.
Nice new block with good showers, clean toilets and washing up facilities, big play park for the children, bike maintenance station, dog cleaning room, clothes drying room (although it didn't dry our clothes which was a shame).
Only negative comment is that the wardens/staff had different views on what was and what wasn't acceptable in terms of positions of gazebos and tents and windbreaks and we were given conflicting information.

As described. Only been open a few weeks.
Nicely laid out with forest or field pitches.
Take a mountain bike. Trails run at the back of the site. Pleasant walk to the cafe.
Parking at the visitor center is a bit expensive £3hr.
Would have liked to stay longer!

Great facilities and location - within walking distance to Sherwood Pines walking trails and Go Ape.
Nicely spaced out pitches.
Will definitely recommend and hope to return!

Nice new site, toilet blocks were well laid out (two halves for male and female so one side always open when cleaning). We had a large pitch, the site will look nicer in a few years once all the hedges planted create more interest and division.
There is one large open area and two smaller zones in the woods. No pitches seem to be really under the trees. Pitches looked to be generally flat.
Easy access on foot to the forestry commission site next door and Go Ape, a great site to bring bikes too. Playground looked good but our kids didn’t use it. Looks like the reception area will have a shop but was not there when we visited. Perhaps this will be added post pandemic.
Only criticism is the site is crossed right up the middle by power lines with a pylon just off each end of the site which spoils the natural feel a bit.

We have just returned from this newly opened site, and have to say we were impressed. The site is well laid out with generous pitches that don't make you feel on top of each other.
The staff were amongst the friendliest we have come across and you feel like they want to make your stay as good as they can. We stayed on a fully serviced pitch which all worked well with no issues.
We spent our time walking in the adjacent Sherwood Pines forest, but it is a fantastic place to take your mountain bike to as there are a vast number of trails and marked routes to explore. You can hire bikes at the visitors centre.
We found everywhere quiet late at night. Eating out was easy, there are cafes at the centres in the Forest, or within 3 or 4 miles there are a range of different places to eat. Supermarkets are also within a few miles.
Highly recommended site, we will return.
