This site is a work in progress, but you can see that when the trees and hedges have grown it will make a real difference to the feel of the site. We had a 'bay' on the edge of the main site which was a grass pitch without electric hook-up.
The pitch was sloping a little, but manageable. The ground was like concrete and the grass quite sparse. I had forgotten to take rock pegs and struggled as a result.
Staff are attentive and helpful, the facilities are well maintained. There is a 5mph speed limit and it felt quite safe to let our 9yr old ride about.
There is a good play park and seemed to be lots of kids. The playpark closes at 9. 30pm, which is fair enough.
On Saturday night it was very busy and a bit of noise, although probably no more than you might expect with a lot of young families. Sunday was much quieter and those remaining nicely spread out.
There is a small shop and the site is next to Sherwood Pines.
We would go back for a few nights with friends

Good walks from site but take a site map or you could get lost.
Good amenities on site and clean.
The only thing that spoilt the trip was people not respecting pitch and walking past van to the toilet block instead of using path which upset dog, would have been better if barriers were put up, there are trees planted but they will not be mature for years

Lovely site in all ways, location, facilities, cleanliness & helpful staff.
Showers were good & very useful to have a chair in cubicle.
Enjoyed the colour coded walks in the Forest which was beautifully kept!

Lovely site with excellent facilities, some of the best we've seen. The site is set in beautiful surroundings,
And near to some lovely places to visit, would highly recommend Cresswell Craggs and Rufford Abbey. The staff are friendly and helpful, and very hardworking.
We spent 7 nights here, and had a great week right till the last night when some individuals in a tourer parked up near us and decided to party until 1. 30 am, not giving a thought about anyone else who might be trying to sleep, not even the four kids they had with them.
Would highly recommended this site, in spite of the thoughtless idiots who ruined the last night.

Lovely site with excellent facilities - including dog wash and cycle maintenance areas.
We stayed here on our way up to Scotland and liked it so much we also stayed on the way back, in May.
Great for off road cycling and walking.

The site was beautiful and the facilities immaculate as you would expect from such a new site.
The children's play area was great too.
We arrived quite late (approx 8pm ) but were nonetheless given a very warm welcome by the staff.
Only a couple of minutes ride from the forests visitor centre and start of biking trails.
We definitely plan to return.

This was our 2nd visit to the site and it is ideal for us with 3 dogs. Straight off the site and into the forest with lots of lovely walks.
The visitor centre has a lovely café and the dogs literally ran the final bit to get their dog sausages.
The toilet and shower block is always spotless and the staff are friendly and accommodating. As a 60+ member of Camping and Caravanning Club we get an extra discount.
My only grumble is the roadway is white limestone, which has been crushed with vehicles movement and has become very chalky and powdery that then carries into your awning and van. When wet it becomes a slushy mess.
We will be back again to visit.
