We visited with three kids under 13 and up my siblings and families came along for short breaks too.
We were there for two weeks(!) holiday at Ecton Bridge. We were looking for somewhere to really switch off and unwind and we couldn't have wished for a more perfect place to do it.
If I had to describe my perfect site it might just be Ecton Bridge. Beautiful location nestled in a valley. River swimming on site (with kingfisher sightings thrown in if you are lucky). Fires allowed.
Small and perfectly formed.
The facilities are great and everything is so well considered. The owners aren't about cramming in as many people as possible and have deliberately left the centres of the fields open and actively encourage rounders and games which is a lovely way to socialise with other people.
This campsite also has one of the nicest camp shops I've seen and you can order croissants for breakfast.
Brilliantly located for cycling on tracks and quiet roads and waking and visiting the Peak District.
It was very quiet mid-week when we visited but this is because the site was originally just open for weekends. Now they are open all summer there is no doubt this site will become very popular, given nearly everyone we met was a returning customer already.
The secret is out!

We camped here with our family and 2 groups of other friends and their children and 3 dogs. The campsite was great and the the owners were very helpful and friendly.
We had their stone baked pizzas on the Friday night and they were gorgeous. The kids also enjoyed the ice creams. We all chilled round the fire in the evening and had a great night.
There were lots of lovely walls nearby and the kids and the dogs had a swim in the river. At night on the Saturday other families and their children often enjoyed the film night too, it looked great for younger kids.
There was also tables tennis and boules available too.
The little shop was lovely and well stocked, it also served freshly brewed coffee.
Great value for money and would highly recommend

We had an excellent stay at Ecton Bridge Campsite. We really loved the site, facilities and all the extras, wood fired pizza on Friday, Movie night Saturday, Table Tennis, Petanque, logs for the fire pit etc. Kate was extremely welcoming and helpful.
The site also has a small shop so you never are short of anything. All extras are reasonably priced too.
The toilets and showers are clean and modern housed in portable stables.
The site is extremely handy if you want to ride the 3 local cycle routes The Manifold trail being a 2 min ride away and the Tissington and High Peak a 15min drive to Hartington Station to access both routes.
We will hopefully be back soon.

Such a lovely site, two small camping fields next to the River Manifold. Each pitch is a generous size with it's own firepit (logs available to buy).
Lovely clean facilities, on site shop which is small but somehow has everything you might need, covered table tennis table and giant connect four, and even a small rounders pitch!
Apparently the late Aug bank holiday weekend they were fully booked, but we stayed a few days before and there were just 4 other tents so it was really tranquil.
The kids loved paddling and swimming in the river, having campfires and generally hanging out - they didn't even complain too much about not having phone signal!
The local ice-creams which are delivered to your pitch by bike are also excellent!
Lots of local walks and bike rides, and amazing scenery. We plan to return.

Spent three wonderful days and nights at Ecton Bridge campsite - clearly a labour of love for the owners, Katie and James, who've created a magical and welcoming escape in the a stunningly beautiful setting.
Pitches are enormous - we fitted two three meter tents and a four meter gazebo in two pitches with plenty of space to play.
The pitches look out across a large meadow with a river running along the edge - perfect for small kids to paddle, along with a deeper stretch for swimming - a great way to wake up (purge a hangover) in the morning and relax in the afternoon.
Facilities on camp are exceptional, with home cooked pizza on Friday, breakfast pastries delivered to the tents, a very well stocked shop (the sausages are phenomenal) and fantastic games area, which double ups as a silent cinema on Saturday.
Some fantastic walks from the campsite on the Manifold way, and loads to explore all around the area.
All in all one of the best run campsites I've stayed on, in one of the most perfect settings

This was a brilliant site. The owners were very hands on, friendly and helpful. We experienced the pizza night, outside movie night and ice creams and all of it was really well done, reasonably priced too.
Their personalised walk leaflets are really well done and easy to follow.
Lots of lovely touches around the place, the washing up/ shower/ toilet area encourages a more family atmosphere and there’s a boules/ pétanque pitch and place for kids games as well as a river for swimming. It is not a huge campsite but they have still elected to not squeeze as many campers
In as possible but rather everyone has plenty of space and the middle of the fields are left for kids to play in or just be.
Mobile signal is non existent but they do have free wifi by reception and their small shop is adequately stocked for the essentials, the bread is very nice as was the meat that we ordered for our barbecue.
We really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely stay there again when we are next in the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed a return trip to Ecton Bridge, to find the campsite better than ever!
The location is amazing, sheltered by the surrounding forested valley, the meadow and stone strewn river are beautiful whilst the starry night sky is breath taking! Kate and James are perfect hosts.
The toilet, showers, & washing up facillities are spotlessly clean. Fresh cut flowers and fragrant soap making the stay feel a luxury. All needs are catered for with the well stocked shop.
Breakfast can even be ordered and ice creams are delivered to the meadow on a traditional cargo bike. The woodfire pizza must not be missed!
There are games for the energetic; ping pong, petanque, and swimming in the river which is beautiful and very welcome on a warm day.
Each spacious pitch has its own firepit, logs are also delivered, with a fire starter pack to ensure every campfire is a success.
We had a fabulous weekend and will definitely be back

What a beautiful site! Located in a valley surrounded by beautiful trees and edged by the river Manifold, the site spreads over 2 flat fields.
One field is closer to the facilities and house and the pitches are around a rounders pitch mowed into the grass.
The other field has the river along 2 sides and pitches along the others, with the middle left as long grass with winding paths mown across that the kids loved playing in.
The river is cold but clear and we had fun paddling, swimming and watching the kingfisher.
The toilets and showers were built in shepherds huts and always spotless. We never had to queue, even when the site was pretty full at the weekend.
We really appreciated the collection of walk leaflets available in the foyer and tried out several of them. We also made use of the table tennis table, the freezer for ice packs, the bike hire and the delicious pizzas served on Friday nights.
No phone signal or electrical hook up meant peace, quiet and a complete switch off which I'm missing already!
Add in daily visits from Kate selling logs or bringing her pretty ice-cream van around and I think this is pretty much our perfect campsite.

Just got back from a lovely weekend here. We were greeted by the host who was lovely and v helpful.
Although a basic pitch, the Toilets and showers were immaculate.
Lots of lovely touches like film night, fire pit provided, logs and ice cream delivered to your tent.
The setting was amazing with a river at the bottom of the field and round the corner from the bike track.

Absolutely amazing if you love a quiet and amazingly beautiful, clean camp site. We went as 4 adults and two 14 year old girls. The site is flat and in a beautiful location on the bottom of the valley.
As soon as the tent was pitched the girls were exploring the river - paddling n swimming. The showers were then needed and proved to be clean, warm and very much appreciated using a push button to keep the water flowing.
The shower furthest from the sinks however was intermittent with cold n hot water. The other 3 showers were perfect. The toilets were always ultra clean with plenty of toilet roll. The fresh flowers were a lovely and much appreciated added extra.
The wash up area had 4 sinks, again so clean. Cold water is available here. ( We ran warm water into a bowl from the toilet sinks and poured this into the wash up sinks).
The manifold pub is about a half hour walk from the campsite along part country road and part pathway. Our hosts were so lovely and offered to open a tab to add on logs, ice creams (from a beautiful ice cream bike) and baguettes/ croissants as they were bought, settled at the end of our stay.
They have also just started providing morning coffee for those who need it. The picnic table shared between 2 pitches was fantastic and used every day as was the fire pit.
I loved how the logs came with fire building instructions plus matches. Our girls loved playing table tennis and boules under the canopy before settling down around the camp fire.
We honestly couldn't ask for any more. I really don't want to recommend this site as I selfishly want to keep it to myself.
A true gem with wonderful, caring owners.
