Just read some of the reviews for this site and what can I say. We have stay at some sites that they charge a pound for a shower that did not last for five minutes. The toilets and showers are very clean. It is a ideal site for easy access to chester and ellesmere port. Delamere forest is just up the road. Good local pubs for great food and drinks a local shop to get the basics plus there is a local butchers in the village. So please don't be put off by other reviews of this site

Camped for one night with my son, four. Most of the space available for tents is highly sloping. I chose the flattest bit I could from which I could see the play area, but still spent all night pushing my son back uphill on the airbed.
He enjoyed the play area but it was a bit rickety, whole thing shook when I pushed him on the swing. Toilets were modern and clean, with soap and paper towels available. Most of the site was taken up with permanent caravan/awning combos.
The site is close to the village. We ate at the Royal Oak, posh pub food. Not cheap but decent quality. The area is lovely, with Delamere Forest very close by.
I found the constant noise from the A54 a bit of a nuisance. It didn't feel like a peaceful, relaxing place.
All in all, no major problems but not somewhere I'd want to return to, particularly at the price – £13 for a pitch for one adult and one child.

We went here for the May bank holiday. The warden was very friendly on arrival.
The site is what I would call very basic. There was a lot of tourers that were permanently sited and the majority of them looked really neglected and dirty which doesn't give a good impression.
The location for getting to and from Chester is a bonus but really that's all this site has going for it. Its is really a field with no views and nothing special.
The showers were dirty and in the corner was a mop bucket with filthy water. Also they charged 50p for a shower which seemed a bit cheeky considering we paid £18 per night. If you do go for a shower take some flip flops!
The play area was ok but nothing special. Our kids enjoyed the park in Kelsall which is a pleasant 10 min walk away.
We wouldn't return to this site again and wont be recommending it to our friends but we enjoyed the local area like delamere forest and the village itself.

We stayed here at the beginning of October 2011. The warden was a really nice and helpful chap.
Toilets were really clean and tidy and shower facilities were good too. Calor is sold on-site if you run out at average prices.
Like others have mentioned, kiddies playground is in the middle of the park so safe for the little ones. Chestnut trees everywhere so the kids love picking up the conkers!
Some of the pitches have got quite a slope but nothing too challenging. Even though the park is surrounded by trees, we got a decent TV signal from our van aerial. Don't worry about the road noise as it is not really noticeable. Hook ups within 3 meters of van so the short lead will be a better option if you have one.
I'd go back to this site again.
**TIP** When leaving the park with your van DO NOT TURN RIGHT!

I left it very late to book a camp-site for a trip to Chester to visit the city centre, Oaks Outlet and of course the Chester Zoo. Every one in the area was fully booked.
The owner of Northwood was very helpful, and called round his list of campers that had not turned up to find me a space. After ten minutes he said he had a space available, albeit a new plot not yet grassed, but had electric hook up.
On arrival, the park looked very nice and cosy. The owner, and his family, were very friendly and helpful. The pitch was tooked away in the corner, on gravel, next to a permanent resident of the park and was a great spot looking out on to the park.
Hookup point was within 5 meters, water tap, showers, toilets 12 meters. The toilets were spotless, very clean, hot water (too hot) every time I visited. Ran out of soap on two occasions, but was quickly replaced/replenished after letting the owner know.
The Playground was situated in the middle of the park, away from the entrance, which was nice. It didn't look brand new, but my son loved it and there was plenty of kids playing round it, so I guess it was great.
We didn't take any of the surrounding area in to be honest, we travelled by car to the City Centre, Zoo, and Oaks Outlet, but we heard the local pub one night with their karaoke and it wasn't offensively loud, more of a background hum.
The closest main road, a dual carriage way, is just over the other side of the park, and we never heard any vehicles travelling on it. The park was very quiet throughout the whole evening. Their is a local Thai restaurant up the main road, and I can say without doubt, was the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Try it, Thai at The Cooper Kettle.
Being new to towing a caravan, the only thing that I can moan about was the narrow road leading to the camp site. I was nervous of meeting anther oncoming caravan, but we didn't, arriving or leaving.
A nice family run campsite, which good facilities.

Just back from spending a week at this site, booked it a few months earlier then read the reviews the week before going so was very apprehensive. We ended up on a seasonal pitch below the tent field and next to the road, which as some reviews have said is quite noisy. The toilets however weren't as previous reviews. We found them very clean, yes dated but very clean. On speaking to the site warden, they are completely re-vamping the toilet and shower block at the end of this year.
We made a trip out to the The Oak which is at the end of the lane,500 yards from the site and can't recommend the food highly enough. The centre of the village is another 600 yards from The Oak with a canny co-op and another pub. Didn't try the pub so can't comment but did look popular.
Chester is well worth a visit with the choice of park and ride or parking in the city. We opted for the latter and parking is well signposted though a little dear. I also recommend a run up to Wallasy which is about 30 minutes from the site. We took the 'ferry cross the Mersey' and spent a few hours in Liverpool which is a fascinating place, well worth the visit.

We stayed here the first weekend of july, the warden was very nice, the toilets weren't the nicest and the showers were very old and not too clean, they were also 50p, it was very expensive for the lack of facilities, we paid £14 per night and there was no hot water for the dishes.
The children's park was very basic and old.
The pub up the road is lovely, some very good meal deals and the food is faultless, the area is lovely just a shame about the site, we had a good time but wont go back there again.

Chose this site as couldn't get on any others near Delamere Forest and had promised kids a trip to zoo.
Took previous comments on board and considered it worth the risk as only for 2 nights. In terms of positives these are limited to close proximity of good pub at end of lane and on balance a friendly and compact site.
Negatives include frequent lack of hot water in the very basic toilet block, showers, and washing up area. Road noise is like nothing we have experienced. We even took earplugs which were a waste of time. There is a tiny area of flat ground for tents which is almost in the middle of the dual carriageway. Otherwise you will be on a slope of varying degrees.

We stayed in a tent on this site for four days. The warden was very friendly and helpful. I will try to give constructive criticism for the facilities but to be honest they were very dirty. The washing up area was filthy, the toilets were better, just, and the showers were disgraceful especially as they had a extra charge of 50p (always a bug bear for me). This is a noisy site, a busy carrige-way roars its way past. The location is great, Delamere Forest is beautiful has many great walks and a fantastic cafe. There are many great pubs, we had a lovely meal in the Morris Dancer. I probably wouldn't stay here again but would recommend the area.

We went to this campsite because it's ten mins from our house and we wanted to test our large tent. Where to start? How about the noise. OH MY GOD, we have never heard such a noisy area. Right next to a dual carriageway where boy racers go all night. The local pub had an Elvis impersonator on and it was belting out till one in the morning. Loud loud loud.
We booked the site about three weeks ago and there had been a mix up with the bookings with me being told to send a cheque to Northwood touring park, so after looking for the address online I sent it to Northwood Hall Touring Park. This is apparently a completely different business. With the same address. Very confusing!
The toilets are clean but chilly and the shower is the same. One working shower for the entire site, not too good.
We booked a pitch with electric and was situated so far from an electric point we had to use three extensions to reach.
All in all I'm rather glad we didn't stay for longer than one night. We'd be packing up and looking for another site if that was the case!
