We have had a caravan on this site for five years can not fault it at all. The current wardens Dave and Sharon have improved the site toilets are spotless. If you have any problems they can not do enough for you. They are currently cutting down the trees at the back of the site so in the summer we will have more sunshine. The site is immaculate. Location 15 mins from wales 5 mins delamere forest and Cheshire and surrounding villages 3 pubs in the village selling good value food co op if you need any essentials everything you need is on your doorstep I would recommend a visit

Booked and paid in advance for three nights, web site said £ 15.00, but we were charged £ 20.00 pn, they claim old web site.

Upon arrival, all available touring pitches were under trees with no sun, pitches with sun were all taken with permanent campers. A lot of noise from the near by road.

Then we were told showers were payable dispite paying £ 20.00 per night to include elec, which went off whilst we were there, some problem with the supply.

We left after two days and were not offered a refund, we felt very poor service

Lovely quiet site, Owner was very polite and friendly and told us lots about the site, offered any help at any time and showed us her caravan and were we could contact her. Toilets and showers Spotless. Mobile service was good. Only problem we had our electric constantly tripped. We will go back. Sounds like the camp is going to be renovated and the description sounds nice.

Although going through a transitional period, we did find the site very sparse and a tad uninviting, though the new wardens Sharon and Dave were very helpful making us feel welcome. The toilet block was adequate and the 2 unisex showers acceptable although coin operated (50p for approx five minutes). The area for tents was on a slope, we were pitched in the tourer area which still had a slight slope most of the site is occupied with seasonal campers. The children's play area consisted of a rickety climbing frame. We paid £20 per night which we thought quite expensive for the facilities available. Close to Delamere forest and Chester both of which we visited, the Royal Oak is a short walk away the food was good but the drinks were expensive, the nearby co-op was well stocked.

I booked this site as a last minute get away & luckily I got the last available pitch, which was lucky considering it was a bank holiday.

After booking I then read reviews on this campsite & suddenly had regrets as to what I would find.

The approach lane to the campsite IS a tad tight & I wonder what would happen if a car towing met a car towing coming in the other direction.

On arrival, I went to reception & was meet by a very jolly man who issued me with a key to the toilet for a small returnable deposit. As we were reversing our caravan into a fairly tricky spot this jolly fellow appeared again & offered help.

Despite poor reviews, I have to say this is a small but comfortable campsite. The pitch fee is reasonably priced. The toilet block though reportedly unclean, was in fact very clean. The site itself was clean.

The signal for the TV is very weak & also for mobile signal.

Electricity supply is quite low.

Overall basic but very comfortable site.

There is a pub 'The Royal Oak', just a short walk down the lane. Very accommodating & polite staff though the drinks are quite pricey. We didn't eat there but the meals served looked fabulous.

A good craft centre close by. Also Chester City is only a 20 drive away, a must visit if you haven't been before, stunning architecture, a tourist delight. All in all we have had a fabulous weekend & we WILL be using this campsite again.

Just returned from a two night stay. We were given our pitch up on higher ground, unfortunately this meant the noise from the main road was more audible. No sleep for two nights as it certainly carried, we found it was less noticible on the main lower part of the site. Where we were pitched appeared to be a bit of a dumping ground, there was a two seater cane conservatory sofa minus the cushions, an old well rusted half drum bbq, mounds of rubble as well as the odd cool box, you could tell the rubbish had been left there a while. The showers operated on a 50p meter and it cost me £1. 00, the coin box is inside so at least you are not popping outside wrapped in your towel when the water abruptly stops. There is a bench behind a wall so your clothes don't get wet. The whole shower block consisting of two unisex showers, two undercover washing up sinks and the toilet blocks are in desperate need of a clean, notices say toilet blocks are closed for an hour at lunch time, but in all honesty I don't think they have been cleaned this season. The bin certainly wasn't emptied in the time we were there and ended up over flowing with hand towels, the bug behind one of the sinks in the ladies toilet was there when we arrived and still there as we were leaving, the washing up sinks were dirty and hot water flowed one minute then stopped.

On a positive note, this site could be a lovely site if it was cleaned up. It's got a small climbing frame for children and the one's on the site were playing on their bikes, enjoying themselves having fun in a safe environment. Most of the caravans were lovely and homely, had solar lights and pretty garden areas around them. The village is a quiet country village and there is a co-op for any bits and pieces you may need. We came here to visit Chester and Liverpool and the site was good for this for us, would we return? No, we really like the area but this site needs a good tidy up and regularly needs a cleaning team.

After arriving at Northwood we wondered 'what have we done' especially after the mixed reviews. Once pitched up and settled things didn't seem all that bad, the pitches for tourers are all along one side and do need some attention and T. L. C but all are level, unfortunately under the trees so you miss the midday sun. A lot of the site is taken up by seasonal tourers which look like they have been sited for a long time some very old vans and unsightly awnings. The toilet block is adequate, the ladies seem a lot better than the gents. This a great site for peace and quiet and the warden was friendly. A short walk from the site is the Royal Oak pub which has a great beer garden and a fantastic menu would recommended it and just further on is a co-op. Good site for visiting Chester and we would definitely return.

Stayed at northwood over the bank hol, we were very fortunate to have lovely weather. The site is positioned approx 5 min walk to the main village where there is a shop, pubs etc. Great food! there is also a fantastic children's park. The one on the site is not the best as per previous comments. It wobbles quite a bit, wood rotten to name but a few issues with it. That said my 3 yr old played on it, with my supervision. The tent pitches were on slopes although the grass is very well kept, it certainly didn't look ideal. The caravan pitches were good plenty of space for awning and car. 1 road went round site and was safe enough for your little ones to play on with bikes etc. Lots of regulars on the site, the ones we spoke to was very friendly as was the warden. I found the toilets very clean. Very hot water in taps! showers ok. 50p for approx 5 mins not very powerful but did the job. All in all a lovely little site perfectly located for visiting nearby attractions. We tried the ice cream factory. Worth a visit and free. Would recommend this site we paid 18 pound hard standing with hook up.

Just returned from spending 2nd may bank holiday here. Upon arriving on site ( lane up to site is a little narrow, however its very very quiet and we never saw another vehicle on it all weekend). First impression of the site was ok seems a little, not small, but cosy. There are quite a few sited caravans but I find that only added to the pleasant experience. The site was a great little unpolished diamond, it has many plus points for us and our needs, the only let I feel was the showers, a little grubby I thinks best describes them honestly. They work they and are fully functional ( not the best we have used ).

Pros. Price £54 for the weekend, 9 year old loved it here hot much traffic so he could wonder around and enjoy himself safe in the knowledge that he was safe and happy. Wardens can't seem to do enough for you. Coop shop 500yards up the road 10 min walk.

Cons. Only the showers were a let done to what we usual expect.

Would we visit this site, YES ! I think the pros for out weigh the cons. Please don't let this review put you off unless you are expecting 5 star shower sauna and spa treatment ( then again it wouldn't be caravanning would it ).

The site looked lovely on the internet which is why we chose it, but upon arrival it was completely different, very unkempt and scruffy. Also all the trees were being sawn down which was a great shame.

The warden was very helpful however, showing us to our pitch and even helping us set up which was lovely.

The one main problem was the noise from the main road which runs right alongside the site, the noise was loud and constant all night.

The showers were very dirty and operated on 50p which did not last long, the mop bucket to mop the floor was filled with dirty water and full of leaves, I am glad we were only there for the weekend as we couldn't use the showers.

Good point it was very handy for the park and ride into chester.

Unfortunately we won't return here.
