We visited this site after not finding anywhere else at 7 at night and it was a great find.
We were given a nice spot albiet it was a bit damp to start with, but that was not an issue as it soon dried up over the stay.
Handy as well as there was grass pitches with hook up as we were told by one site that we drove into that there was no sites in the area that offered grass pitches for campers, which was wrong obviously.
We have a campervan with a large drive away awning and the price per night including hook up was really good for the area.
The campsite warden was very nice and pleasant also along with the old man in the shop. I never noticed the items in the shop until the last few days of our stay, but would have been very handy if we had not wanted to go out for the day.
Keswick only being a couple of miles from the site as well was quite handy for the odd takeaway treat as well.
The site was nice and quite and the views were very good as well. We had 5 days of which were all sun and very warm.
The toilets were cleaned every day and had plenty hot water, showers were 20p and roasting hot. Only thing with them in the womens ones there was no where to hang clothes whislt taking a shower and a shelf or two would have been handy at the sinks. In the whole the toilet blocks were functional for what is required.
I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others as well.

This site was just what we were looking for. We visited for the Keswick Mountain Festival, 2 adults, 1 child and 4 large dogs. On searching for campsites, many wanted to charge me additional fees per dog however this site charge per unit. Plenty of space, electric hook up at no extra cost (we didn't use this). Small shop in the reception though I can't comment on this as I didn't really pay much attention, I was too taken with the elderly gentleman who was booking me onto the site. What a delightful man.
Shower/toilet block was clean and well looked after.
Will probably stay here again.

Me and a friend stayed here for 4 days over the bank holiday weekend and cannot fault the site at all,
Close to everything we wanted with good quality showers and toilets, which were very clean and didn't smell.
Other site users were friendly and helpful as this was my first time in the lake district.
Although this site in a bit hilly it is perfectly situated in gorgeous farmland with fantastic views of the surrounding areas and skiddaw.
Owner was very friendly and helpful with his knowledge of the area.
Would not hesitate to stay here again and again with my children as well next time.

We visited Dalebottom Farm after it was recommended by a friend and we weren't disappointed. The site is situated in the middle of some fantastic scenery and walks are abundant from the doorstep.
The facilities are basic but clean and are perfectly serviceable. Keswick is only 5 mins by car and the stone circle at Castlerigg is a lovely evening walk if the weather permits.
We were impressed with the lack of road noise as the touring pitches are set below the road level and that makes a real difference.
We will definitely be returning in 2012.

This is not a five star camp site but the facilities are functional and clean; they were adequate for a week with teenagers with whom the intention was to be off site during the day. There is a shop selling basic provisions but Keswick is only 2 miles away if you want the ingredients for more substantial meals.
The ground is undulating but this is the Lake District and mountains are not unknown in the area - find a flatter part of the site. It also means that if it rains, and it did, the ground does not become a quagmire.
Just off the A591 Borrowdale Road (Keswick to Ambleside road) it was easy to find but did not suffer from car noise. Its location also meant that it made other parts of the Lake District accessible - Scaffel Pike, Consiton, Ullswater.
Both the owner and his son were very pleasant. His son also walks the local mountains and is knowledgeable about them.
We stayed from Sunday to Sunday paying for 2-3 nights at a time. There are not designated pitches, campers select there own spot. There always appeared to be space on the campsite.
This is a useful site to use as a base for the Lakes but you would probably find it limited if your intention was not to go off site.
Would I go again? - Yes
Would I recommend it? - Yes

After searching many sites and reading lots of reviews I settled on Dalebottom farm as the campsite for our trip in late July 10.
I promised myself that I would write a review as soon as returned as I felt that some reviews on here could be misleading.
The site was easy to find, friendly farmers who leave you to get on with it or are available to help if you need it.
Yes, the site is on a slope, my advice would be to camp on the flat - no problem.
As far as the showers go I have to say that they were very hot, infact I would recommend that you use with caution, I like hot showers and these were just perfect for me and 20p wont break the bank.
The toilets were cleaned daily and stocked up every morning with toilet roll which sometimes did run out late afternoon/evening so I would recommend that you carry a roll with you at these times.
On the whole its a great site, its basic but comfortable, you have no silence rules to abide by and you are left alone to enjoy your trip without any commercial distractions of club houses ect. All the kids enjoyed games of football and exploring the land around the site.
Dogs are welcome as well as small groups.
Great for Keswick as only 2 and half mile away. Will be visiting again for sure.

Site easy to find, just off the main road and signed by Brown Signs.
Despite being near the main road, noise was not an issue as far as we were concerned.
The facilities were fairly dated but were clean and did the job. The site is on a hill which means most of the pitches are on a slope unless you are at the bottom of the field which is flat, this does mean a fair walk up hill to the toilets.
There is a small shop on site which sells the important things and just 2 miles down the road is Keswick which has a load of shops and two supermarkets.
All in all a nice site, well located for the Northern Lake District. We will use again if we come back to this area.

Location lovely, few miles from town but a very good walk / bus taxi service available, But! had to camp on a slope (not good for sleeping) surviving this I was told by other campers to be up very early for anything like warm water for showers (to be paid for) price minimal. Never got hot water and even trying at 6am in the morning I still failed, the toilets were constantly out of paper and bought and took our own.
The owners were very friendly and helpful and the little shop was decently priced. Would have been better if people were asked to allow a little space between tents as we were so close to others we could hear every word and more.
As I was there with my young son people making out in the tent next to us was not what I would have chosen to have to hear. Just a little more space was needed. It was a very pretty site and could've been so much better.

First visit to the lakes, though it would be like Wales with a campsite in every field but I was mistaken, couldn't get a pitch anywhere until we stumbled across Dale Bottom. The views are beautiful with walks starting from the back of campsite.. The toilets, shower block and washing facilities were very dated and dirty, which was annoying as the site was in no way cheap and you had to pay 20p each time for hot water. When we arrived Friday morning the tents were spaced nicely but by time it came to 9 pm you were lucky to get your car in-between each tent. Then to top it off there were large groups of people who partied into the early hours without any consideration for others or interception from the owners.

This was our second trip to the site (albeit 3 years after the first).
As we were a group in our 20's I was politely asked if we would behave (and of course we did).
The campsite was very good on the whole - the owners were really nice, the facilities clean (although old) & the small shop was also handy. Its about 3 miles out of keswick so a taxi is useful.
The only problem was the dreaded midge pandemic!
I was literally eaten alive by the buggers. So I would suggest stocking midge spray in the shop.
My 323 BMW made light work of the off-road driving (gravel area & grass).
