Nice site, well suited for walkers with tents. Not sure if electric hook up was available as we didn't need it. Facilities were basic and clean. There's a bar on site which we didn't use but there was no undue noise etc.

The field was reasonably level though some spots could be trouble if it was wet.

The entrance is a tight turn and there's a 3. 5T weight limit on a narrow wooden bridge.

Very good site and decent value. We had no problems with noise as other reviewers had, but I was so tired I could have slept through a live band outside my tent!

Well worn, slightly cramped, but perfectly useable kitchen with pots and pans (that were pretty clean!). 3 or 4 6-seater tables. Pay as you go cooker for those who want it and plenty of laundry facilities. Decent on site bar that also serves excellent cooked breakfasts.

My only minor complaint was the very wet camping field. We had glorious weather but it was still a bit squelchy, so goodness knows what it's like after heavy rain.

The location of the site was ideal for walking without going out in the car, but I would not recommend staying at weekends due to the unacceptable noise after 10. 30pm ( there is a sign to say that noise is not accepted after this time)for example Fri/Sat/Sun myself and other campers had to tell people to be quiet several times after midnight and a family was told to leave due to the noise. Monday night was very peaceful. There is a live band in the bar at weekends, but I did not find the noise a problem from my tent.

The female toilets ran out of toilet paper approx twice a day and often I had to queue for the toilets/showers - the previous site I stayed at whilst on my holiday was cheaper and had more facilities for less people.

I also found labelled food I had put in the fridge had been thrown out and one of the items was a sealed plastic container with the contents - I had to rescue this from the bin otherwise I would have not have been able to cook my tea on my final night of camping because I had not budgeted for the cost of a meal from the on site bar.
Management response: Please note that as of 2023 new owners have taken over the park and have a whole new team and structure is now in place.

Stayed for one night to celebrate a birthday with 5 other couples.

Overshot the entrance as there was only a tiny sign post.

£17.00 for the two of us & the campervan. We were able to park where we wished so chose the field nearest the toilet block, shop & bar.

Staff very friendly. Campsite clean but basic.

Went to the Drovers Inn for our evening meal (a fabulous night) marred only by watching the clock to ensure we got back to the campsite by 11pm when the gate would be locked.

Back to the bar on site for more drinks & music.

Cracking nights sleep.

In the morning went to the shower/toilet block. Very warm, very clean & lots of hot water. Only three showers though & no mop to clean the floor after. It appeared that I was first in to have a shower that day but I should imagine if you were 4th/5th etc, the floor would be filthy.

Cooked breakfast in the bar. The staff couldn't have been nicer - accommodating my fussy breakfast requests.

So to summarise:- Badly signposted

Basic but clean

Gate shuts 11pm

Great atmosphere in the bar

Only 3 showers, endless hot water but no mops

Wonderful cooked breakfasts

Would definitely go again.

Ideally situated for West Highland Way walkers as this campsite is on the route so we didn't have to walk any distance to or from the campsite. Also includes good road access for those that are not walking the Way. Lovely area for those visiting the surrounding area, visiting further afield, hiking locally or walking the West Highland Way. Good flat, firm area for pitching tents. Clean toilets and showers. Well stocked and good priced shop. Laundry facilities for washing and drying clothes. Indoor space for preparing and eating food & dish washing area. Bar and restaurant with delicious menu and good prices, including vegetarian and kids options, and evening entertainment. Able to charge mobile phones in bar at no extra cost. Warm, friendly staff. Only down side was no kids play park. Thoroughly enjoyed our stop and would definitely return.

We were walking the West Highland Way, booked a camping cabin for 4: initial impression good, had a good meal in the cafe, friendly staff, great location.

However unpleasant night in cabin, hot stuffy cabin (it had been a hot sunny day). We could not open the windows or doors as would be eaten alive by the swarms of midges. I suggest then these cabins should have insect screening or mesh on their windows and doors. Mattresses were satisfactory, but we would have been more comfortable in a cooler properly screened tent.

Stayed here three times now but to be fair, it's mainly the area and Drovers pub that keeps me returning, nothing else.

This is a very busy site made worse by the fact it's right next to the A82 which is the main west coast north to south artery. The site has good points, it's location is stunning and has a great bar on site with well priced food. Toilets/showers are clean although small and there is a wee shop on site.

Now for the bad.

The main issue on this site is the barrier and on all my stays I have heard everyone complain about it. It's shut at 11pm to cars and pedestrians staying on site; as in other words one minute over and you will get locked out with no way of crossing the river apart from using the emergency intercom begging the staff to let you in despite they are all still up serving in the on-site pub. Most normal sites have an entry card with an overnight vehicle barrier still in place, it makes you feel like a child to be honest.

The shower blocks although clean are way to small to cope with this site in peak season with people waiting on all my three visits.

The bottom field can get very boggy and on one two of my visits was shut.

After three visits I'm hesitant to stay here again, there's many better organised sites passed on the way up with far less people, although views are somewhat compromised.
Management response: Please note that as of 2023 new owners have taken over the park and have a whole new team and structure is now in place.

Backpacking the West Highland Way with my wife.

Tent field is slightly sloping but well kept. The water tap is on the main building though.

Kitchen facilities are more than you would hope for, sink, kettle, hot plate cooker, seating, fridge, and drying area, all free. Laundry and bag drop area if you want it too.

Bar/restaurant is nice but looks like it could get busy if the site is anything near half full.

Toilet and shower facilities are spotless and warm.

We didn't eat there and one thing I did notice is they seem to want to discourage you using anywhere else. The warning I got about the gate on the river bridge closing at 11pm was 'it's a 4 mile walk around and it's really not worth it'. Looking at the gate they really don't want anybody getting in when it's closed. You couldn't climb over that!

The Drovers Inn across the river is, in our opinion, worth a visit though.

Location is great for the WHW and far enough off the road to not hear it too well.

Facilities are probably the best we had on our walk.

Not quite cheap enough for 10/10 VFM.

Customer service bar one comment (above) was excellent.

Probably OK for kids but the river is only a field away and easy to access if you go out through the entrance. Young ones will need monitoring.

9/10 overall due to sloping pitches or 10/10 if level.

We will recommend to close friends.

Apart from the midges (my wife was eaten alive) it was a decent simple campsite. Good pub and shop with many neccessaries available.

Could do with better signposting from main road!

Very kind and helpful staff. Adequate toilet block and showers. No electric hookups. Drinking water was close by depending where you pitch. Surrounding area was almost desolate. Very good campsite for hikers and bikers.

Stayed here for a night (fri) with my wife and 3 kids as we were going to be climbing Ben Arthur.

On arrival the first thing that grabbed my attention in the shop was the smell of ,it smelled brilliant. Had I been on the hills all day there is no way that I could ignore that smell, I would defo have to go in and get some.

Surrounding area is cracking and we never heard a sound all night.

Cant fault toilet areas as they were clean and the showers were great.

Great site we will use again no problem.
