My son and I hired one of the wigwams for a night when we were walking the West Highland Way.

The wigwam is basic but functional. All you get is a thin mattress on the floor, a light and a heater. The heater can be unplugged so that a phone can be recharged which was useful. It would have been nice if there has been a couple of stools to sit on but other than that it met our requirements for the brief visit.

The site has very good facilities with a well equipped covered cooking and wash up area. The shop is open early to late and has a wide selection of food but also camping and first aid supplies (useful for walkers).

The toilets and showers are fine although there was queues for the showers later on.

The bar and restaurant was very good. There is a good selection of food available and although not the cheapest it was very fresh and well presented.

The owners and staff were friendly and helpful during our stay too so this helped make it a good experience before heading off on the next stage of our walk.

We arrived on a very warm Friday afternoon in August and were told to 'Just have a look and pitch where you like. ' I'm glad we arrived when we did as within a couple of hours the site became very busy with some really random pitching going on. Fair enough the site doesn't take bookings but perhaps allocating pitches will ensure that campers are safe.

The site is in a beautiful setting with lovely hillside views enjoyed from all areas of the site. It is in a good location for exploring the Loch Lomond area by foot or car.

The site has no specific children's' play area but mine loved exploring the little stream.

The on site bar as a real bonus after we had sweated our way through pitching our large family tent and although we didn't eat there the food certainly looked very good.

The campers's kitchen/shelter/drying area was well equipped but I did see a group who had paid to use the cooking facilities only to find they couldn't work them.

The toilets/shower block were not the cleanest, and were often busy. I found a dead frog and a broken glass bottle at the door of the ladies' early on the Saturday morning and the broken glass took a long time to be cleared up, for young children running around in sandals this was a potential hazard.

I would return to this site as its picturesque and convenient location makes it ideal for a last minute camping trip.

A reasonably busy site but without access for large vehicles (due to the weight limit on the access bridge) it still seemed peaceful. The camping fields are good and it looks as though some drainage or electrics have recently been installed in the front field. The way out from the front field to the exit was a little muddy and one camper got stuck trying to exit.

The bar was a welcome addition and although we sat outside it looked very cosy indoors.

Very handy for the West Highland Way and only about a 45 minute walk from the northern end of Loch Lomond.

The site is very beautiful and there is lots of space in other fields & the stream for small children to play however it is quite a small/cramp site & there wasn't a lot of space to let kids run around you tent without banging into other tents.

I read other reviews complaining about the ground, its soft grass, there is no issues with this at all although I can imagine it will sometimes get pretty water logged (there are no set pitches)

As I said its a very busy site with a great wee shop and bar. The restaurants cheapest meals such as fish & chips start at £10 going right up to about £17 for steak, I thought this was quite expensive but not too bad considering its a great looking place/site. A pint is £3.20 for tennants or £380 for stella, my only moan was the prices for food was a little expensive I felt, however you are only a few minutes walk from one of the most famous pubs in Scotland, the Drovers Inn, which is a lot cheaper.

I've read a lots of complaints about noise, I don't really see what this issue is, it may not be a site for people who want dead silence at 11pm, people will sit up quietly and talk, its great for younger campers/families as its got a great buzz about the place, a but like a music festival.

Another good point is its about 1 hour from Fort William and glencoe is slightly nearer

Our group has stayed at Beinglas every May for years now and it's a great wee place. The owners are fantastic and the staff very welcoming. Food is great and the outdoor shelter has all a walker or camper could need, including cooking and laundry facilities.

The wee shop sells the basics, the bar / restaurant has a great atmosphere. The toilets and showers are immaculate and the view is stunning.

I've been visiting Beinglas for weekend breaks for about 3 years. We chose it specifically as it's within about an hours drive from Glasgow, it has a pub onsite, well we didn't chose it for the pub but because the pub sold food! (which although not cheap is reasonableish!) It also has a great undercover kitchen with washers, dryers, pool, gas cooker, washing up facilities and tables and chairs to escape the elements. The toilets/showers were cleaned daily and were usually spotless, although later in the evening and early morning there was no toilet roll or paper towels left and the bins were overflowing although it was still 'clean'. The camp shop doesn't sell much in the way of food though but they will provide you with ice for your coolbox, the price depends on who serves you, could be free, could be £1.

The site can be busy at the weekends and you can't book in advance, it's turn up only, however there are no marked pitches at present so the size of your tent doesn't matter. Being so close to Glasgow though has it's disadvantages and many a night has been spent listening to the shouting/swearing and music choice of Glasgows late teens/early twenties tangoed females and their partners who seem to think Beinglas is a cheap T in the Park. We have complained on one occasion but the noise started again as soon as the staff member left.

This year it looks like some improvements are taking place, there is now a (very rough)driving track through the main site and there were wooden poles in place that looked like they were attempting to set out separate pitches.

Despite the disruption at night caused by the 'let's pack a tent and get drunk' posse I will go back. I wouldn't recommend it for kids though as there is no play area and as it's often busy at weekends, very little room for them to play, there's also a burn running down the side of the site that when it rains can be very fast flowing and dangerous, however it's lovely on a warm summers day.

It's a bit of a midgey fest though I have to say!

This is my first time in a tent for a long time -we visited Beinglas to meet some Scottish friends as it is 288m from our home. Arrived in cloudy skies - fantastic scenery and friendly welcome from the staff.
Very busy site with constant comings and goings as it is on the West Highland Way. Clean, warm shower / toilet block. Small shop with basics - pub / restaurant on site which is fantastic if you have the weather we had!
It rained within an hour of our arrival and didn't stop for 72hours! Also a cooking / washing up area which I didn't use but was well used by others. Not the cheapest site and the food, though excellent, is also not cheap but well worth the cost if you are wet through and muddy! Peaceful at night with most campers up early for walking.

There is little to do or see in the area unless you are hardened walkers - I wouldn't go again but recommend it for any walkers or as stop off on the way to the Highlands.

Me and my fiancee LOVE this campsite! Have been a few times now and its always been friendly, clean, spacious and just a great place to get away!

I can't wait to go again!

Definitely recommend it to anyone, there's loads to do and see in the area, especially recommend a visit to oban and the sea life sanctuary there.

It was a big boggy once when we went during a week long rainstorm, but apart from that it was great, and the under cover shelter was so useful, have never seen one like it at any other site! it even had pool tables!

Food in the bar was fab and the people that work there are so pleasant and it really makes the difference to an enjoyable stay.

Well done beinglas. You are my favourite campsite!

This was a great camp site, when we arrived there was quite a lot of bites were we could pitch our tents. This was our two mates first time camping so it met our satisfaction and more.

The toilets where nice and so where the showers, just would of been better if there was more, due to the fact that the campsite gets very busy at night. The pub was great as well there was Karaoke and the food was good too. The drovers is amazing! we all fell in love with that pub and will be visiting again soon.

The only down fall was that in the shop they did not sell any sausages or hamburgers which we were relying on, we were told that we coud have a bbq but we couldn't due to the fact that we had nothing to bbq. All the shop really had was pasta and noodles stuff like that, no eggs or anything, it was difficult for us to go else where since none of us can drive yet, apart from that we would all recommend it, we are already talking about when we can go back.

Great site! Toilets/Showers cleaned daily. An onsite shop which sells most everyday items and a pub which is reasonable. There's a covered area with a large gas cooker, 2 sinks and a laundry area. There's also a pool table there. Downside is £10 deposit for cue and white ball! so don't lose them! Drovers Inn is 5 mins walk and worth a look. Oldest pub in Scotland which opened in 1705! About 6 miles further up the road there's a small Londis supermarket which is cheaper and sells more than onsite. Only 10 mins in car.

I particularly loved the fact it was one of the stops for the West Highland Way and the different people you meet from all over was very interesting. Will definitely be back, regardless of the midgies!
