We visited this site in April 2009. It was a basic, but lovely site which had a fantastic view over the estuary. It's well priced at only £9 per night for two adults a child. The only down side was the steep hill for the camping field. The shower were hot and the toilet block and washing facilities were clean. There was a little shop which was well equipped and reasonable.

My wife and I first visited this site some 25 years ago. We love the area, particularly Shaldon which is across the estuary. The main attraction is the view, which when the tide is in filling the estuary of the river Teign, is a sight hard to beat. Unlike a lot of British resorts if anything Teignmouth has improved over the years and the front is always kept tidy with a lovely showing of flowers from spring through the season. However when I revisited the camp site after an absence of many years I was amazed to see they were still using the same antiquated toilet / shower facilities that were there decades ago. After all the revenue they have taken over the years I would have thought they could have invested some of that money in new toilet facilities which are made of breeze blocks and have showers that look like something left over from the war. If you are towing a caravan be warned, the approach road leading down into the camp is very steep. In summary, lovely position but poor facilities.

I've just returned from this site from the weekend and found it truly delightful. Yes it is basic but being only 8 miles away from home and with such a lovely view out of the caravan window when you pull the curtains in the morning you'd be hard pushed to discover this peaceful site anywhere else. Owners were friendly, there is a small shop on site, the toilets are clean, free hot water in the showers and there is even a bath in the ladies and gents. So hitch up and get down to wear farm, I've driven past this site too many times, I will certainly be making a lot more returning visits in 2009

Lovely campsite - highly recommended. Yes the toilet block could be called basic but it is clean, has plenty of shower cubicles and even has two bathrooms, meaning I could have a lovely relaxing bath in the middle of my break! The field we were in did get a bit muddy but there was plenty of room to relax unlike some campsites that cram tents in. Our field backed onto the estuary which was nice to look at but not for swimming in as was a quite muddy. The chip van visits twice a week and is recommended for those nights that you don't want camp food. Overall we had a great (and economic!) holiday.

We've been to this site about five times and stayed for a fortnight each time. This is a great site and good value for money. The toilets and shower blocks are excellent and the views across the Teign estuary are magnificent. It is also close to all the main attractions and about a half hour from Torquay. Good shop on site too. Overall a clean and tidy site with great toilet and shower blocks

Wear Farm camping site lies between Teignmouth and the A380 Take the A381 to Teignmouth after about a mile Wear farm is on the right. The site takes all touring Units they have a field for Caravans Serviced with EHU. Then another 5 fields three of which have drinking water standpipes, The other two fields do not have drinking water stand pipes, But in my opinion they are well worth the walk to get water, This is a bit naughty of the site as site licences state all should have drinking water within 90 meters. These two fields the other side of the busy railway line runs along side the river Teign estuary were it is possible to launch a boat At high water. Check with site owners for max recommended size to launch. I did see a few 18' boats on site. You can also light a fire on the estuary and have a singsong without complaint, We also found most people up and chatting outside there tents until the early hours. So for the early to bed brigade I would recommend they contact the farm to see if there is a quite field. Or stay away from wear farm. The down side for some may be the Washroom facility's. These are both cleaned daily but one set are portacabins ,the other is very old but as all that is needed and in my opinion is the best of the two. But the old ones hot water system is not up to the site when full, not cold but only look warm water. So I would say the site would suit most camper who like others company ,do not require everybody to shut up at 2300hs Like a fire but not outside your tent .Or launch a boat or an inflatable .Not good for swimming due to estuary mud put ok for supervised youngsters to paddle on the small beach area. All in all a good basic site in an especially nice location

First visit to Wear Farm was 3 years ago, I have returned every year since, what a camp site! Right on the River Teign, with access on to the river by boat and out to sea if you wish. Over the years I have noticed that the tent owners upgrade the following year to caravan pitches, from caravan pitches to static holiday home ownership and then even to permanent residential, it seems to be such a desirable holiday destination. Beautiful green rolling hills surround Wear Farm and the sun sets and rises looking out to sea just take your breath away! On my first visit I pitched up right on the river front only a few feet from the bank! The people here are great too, so friendly. The site owner is a very nice gentleman, polite and courteous, you will often see him around maintaining the grounds and he is always ready to help if you have any questions. There is a launderette, local shop and fresh eggs sold from the farm. They even have a resident taxi driver on site for hire! The only thing that I can think of on the negative side is that the toilet / wash blocks are a little basic, however, what this site has to offer makes this a minor detail. Anybody would think that I have been paid to write this review but I haven’t, this site is truly great! And just to show, I have now bought a static holiday home here and can now visit when ever I want during the 7 months opening season. Who knows, may be my next purchase could be a permanent residential property here.

This was a great place to camp we pitched right by the estuary. The price was terrific. We built a fire on the little bit of beach by the river. The only thing I'd say is it's quite a walk to the toilets from the banks of the river, but thats a small price to pay for such a great setting. I'm going back next week.

After a week at a site high in Shaldon, it was a relief to get to Wear Farm. A good friendly campsite, sensibly priced. The family loved the freedom of the site & being by the river & railway. Most of the site is level & the ground good for pegging down. Toilet & shower blocks are basic but clean. Plenty of rubbish bins.

We stayed at Wear Farm for the third year last August and will keep returning. It's a well-spaced site and you're never too close to your neighbours, even in August. Train fanatics will love the railway line running through the site and we love to spend an evening walking down to the estuary and then standing on the railway bridge, watching the sun go down. Facilities are fairly basic and the toilets and showers could do with a refurb, but are generally clean. The visiting chip van is a great touch and very welcome! Local facilities and attractions are easily reached, but take care on the busy main road at the entrance to the site - we have witnessed a few near-misses! Thoroughly recommended!
