Spent 6 nights at Wear Farm last August. Looking at going back this year.
We had 2 tents; 2 adults in one, 2 children in the other. Lots of room between pitches, site not too full - a bonus in August. Plenty of room for outdoor games with the kids. Showers hot and included in fee. Small shop on site had the day to day essentials. Ice pack service available for (I think) 10p per block. All staff on site very friendly and helpful. Close to Teignmouth centre, Torquay 15 mins drive. Great beaches close to the site. Excellent value site: £112 for 1 car, 2 tents, 2 adults, 2 children for 6 nights

We spent 10 days here in August and we weren't disappointed. We were able to pitch right on the bank of the estuary, at the bottom of the site. From here you can launch small boats at high tide. We bought a dinghy and had many happy hours "messing about on the water". We were able to have a fire one evening down on the waters edge.
The toilets and showers were fine, but quite a long way from our field. Not a problem tho - we just bundled in the car and all went for a shower at the same time. there is a small shop on site which stocks the basics.. bread, milk, bacon, etc. Tesco;s is not too far away and there is a Sainsbury's within easy reach too. Fish and chip van visits on Tuesdays and Saturdays - yummm!!
The only down side to this site is that it is on the main road and most of the time you will end up sitting in traffic if you want to go anywhere. Saying that, there is a lovely beach at Shaldon, just a few miles away, and it is well worth 15 minutes in the traffic queue.

As a simple and relaxing camping site, I found this place terrific! We were able to pitch our tent alongside the Estuary bank of the River Teign and light an open fire (which is virtually forbidden on other sites!).
There is an easily accesible launching area for small boats, (we had a 16footer), but you do need to be aware of the tides as the depth of water changes considerably which may prevent deep hulled boats being launched or retrieved. If you have a boat, there is an excellent pub just across the estuary where you can tie up and enjoy a meal or a few pints. NOTE... you may have to walk part of the way back to the site if you overstay your visit... hic! :-)
Canoes and dingy's would be excellent as there is little or no current to worry about. The estuary, Teignmouth and the wildlife is beautiful to view from the site and incredibly relaxing. Don't make MY mistake... take some GOOD 10x50 binoculars for both the daytime and evening views as the sky is dark, crisp and very clear !
There is a small on-site shop for all your necessary items, milk, bread, ice cream, papers, etc.. The site is clean and children will LOVE the freedom to play. I hope you try it and like it as much as I did :-)

Wear Farm is a delightful but basic site. It lies on the banks of the river Taing just outside Teainmouth. The owner is very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The toilets are old but clean and baths are provided as well as showers. My children loved watching the rabbits that rome around, and I enjoyed trains that run through on the railway line that runs across the site. It was a good price only £63 for 1 week in august, with a caravan, awning, wife and two children.
I would recommend this site to all.
