I have just read all the reviews on this campsite and I am quite shocked.
I have returned to Riverside for many years and I love the place, it is the best value site considering how many facilities it has.
The adventure playground has been revamped and was excellent.
I noticed last year that the dancefloor has had a revamp which was all lights in squares under the floor which the kids loved.
The chippy was worse this year than in previous years, can be a long wait and the staff were slow which got on my nerves a bit lol, they need to have more food readily available. That said, it's dead handy and affordable.
The pool is great, I wouldn't let the kids go alone due to the 'lifeguards' being teenagers who spend the time looking bored, texting and chatting. But that doesn't bother me as I feel every parent should watch their own kids anyway.
The night time entertainment suited me, bingo followed by a disco then a band or singer. I usually left then as they are very loud and not really my cup of tea. The kids have to be quiet through bingo which some people did not respect.
There are a lot of teenagers walking around at night but my 15 year old soon made friends and was among them, they never bothered me or anyone I had spoken to.
There was noise at night but I can sleep though anything and it never woke any of my children up nor did it bother me, it was nice to hear people having fun.
I was surprised at how nice the toilet and shower block was and the guy who cleans them is lovely, he works really hard and never seems to stop. I found them always acceptable.
The shop is basic but handy as it stocks bread, milk, lollys, first aid stuff etc but for a 5 minute drive you have asda, morrisons and a tescos.
The games room is a bit dingy and out of the way, mainly occupied by kids as you would imagine but still my kids loved it.
It is also located about a 10 minute drive from the train station which was handy for our friends who don't drive, they were able to join us.
Also my hubby loves the fishing lake.

Spent a week here in October half term.
OK it rained
The part of the site as you enter had lots of grotty seasonal pitched caravans packed in. There where lots of statics where there is no doubt that people where living as the same cars/vans/trucks left every morning, I assume, to go to work.
There are no hardstanding pitches that you can put an awning up hence we ended up on grass. The ground didn't have sufficient drainage (although the staff said it had just be re vamped) and the place was a quagmire.
Swimming pool brilliant for the kids, playground was having a new surface laid so couldn't get on it (1/2 term go figure that one!) although it look great.
Shop was hopeless although Asda and Tesco a short drive away.
Although a club on site it was pretty dismal, on the Friday night all the weekenders turned up, club was going till well after midnight, noisy music along with the same at some residents caravans.
Its a shame as it is perfectly located.

Went here for 16 nights last year with us and our friends, found the site staff very helpful, site it self was a little tired but the toilets and showers were always clean with warm/hot water in the showers.
The clubhouse was clean and a good light hearted game of bingo most nights, no dear and was a laugh,
Swimming pool was handy as it was showery for a lot of the first week and gave the kids somthing to do when we got back from a nice day out, down side no changing rooms but only 30 seconds to the toilets where we would shower then get dressed before going back to the tent.
Ample sinks for washing up but could do with a couple of extra driers so that you can dry towels after swimming.
The site is ideally situated to explore wales, weather it is beach or mountain walks.
Just sorting out with our friends but will be booking again for this year, would recommend as ideal also to relax and do a bit of fishing in the lake or go down the bank and do a bit of fly fishing in the river that runs along side the site.

I stayed at Riverside for a weekend with my family on a trip organised by my kids club. I can say that I didn't pick the venue as it was already picked by the club
We arrived to torrential rain on pitch 28. First of all I was struck by the ugliness of it. Even through the rain it looked like the we were in a grassland on an inner city estate.
We went to the clubhouse to get out of the rain and stayed there for about 10mins as the language of the 'locals' was appalling.
The next day we tried the swimming pool, I was in the pool with my children 6 and 10 and five louts aged between 16-18 throwing a ball around with out any disregard for other people in the pool. The lifeguard was doing nothing about the safety of the children who were hanging about around the bottom of the slide. Which I continually have to warn. The craziest thing was that there were no changing rooms to get dressed. We had to walk through the rain to a toilet to get changed.
On the plus side, the staff were friendly.

Easy access, right next to the M4 at junction 45. Easy access to Swansea centre and the retail parks. The rest is not good I'm afraid.
Lots of seasonal pitches overgrown and untidy. Security is poor, lots of late night noise keeping the children awake, complaints made fell on deaf ears. Unruly people are welcome it seems. Toilets were not clean, we used the caravan. We will not return.

Just returned from the riverside camping park Swansea. The pitch was a good size and toilet block and showers were in fair condition, went to the club house in the evening but there was a strange smell but pint very nice and reasonably priced.
The children's park was very good and shop and fish shop also good
The downside is they had let a group of boys/girls to stay on the park who played their music very loud and drank constantly. They were moved twice while we were there because of their behaviour. Wont be going back.

Booked in for the weekend but left late Saturday night as we had had enough!
The toilet blocks were dirty, with half the toilets having no seats on them. The pitches are too close which sparked a row between two of our neighbours.
Our pitch was on the end so we were lucky on the size, but were next to the water tap which made the ground very soggy.
The park is full of permanent caravans in poor repair and all packed in.
The office staff were friendly and helpful, the pool was too small really for the amount of people but was clean and the children enjoyed it.
The play area has a range of swings, slides etc and was in a good state of repair.
The lake where the static caravans were was very pretty and was nice too walk around, and also you could walk along the river bank which was lovely.
The shop was very small and difficult to get around if there were a few people in it, they held very little stock, running out of bread and milk by Saturday afternoon, which meant a walk across the bypass to the nearest off site shop.
We only went to the club house on the one night and felt like we had stepped back in time, but that of course could just be our taste, unfortunately we are not bingo playing karaokes!

Well what can I say that's not already been said. Very commercial site - great if you want to go and let the kids run free and sit by your tent supping beer all day. I have to be objective and think we had just an unlucky week pitched next to rather loud family.
Cant say I would visit again, location is easy (straight off motorway) flat pitches but well worn, easy to get bogged down. Had hook up's, site shop always well stocked and my lad liked the swimming pool. Nice lake to the back of site where statics are. We used to go there for a walk to escape the hustle and bustle of our pitch.
I must have timed using the toilets wrong as they were always ready for a clean ! Spent 4 days here but luckily we only used it as a base as staying with relatives near by so managed to escape during the day.
To some this would be ideal, just not for me.

Our first reaction was never again and after spending a weekend on the main touring field this was confirmed. The entrance to the site is great for access from M4 but thats were it ends. Ground was muddy not fault of owners but it was littered with bits of tissue, cig ends and ring pulls. Pitches very close together but some had managed to find space to erect awnings and windbreaks and still park next to the car.
We felt very edged in by late friday night.
It appeared that most people knew each other and were regulars here.
As we came here for a party in the university campas we got back late we were surprised to find that the noises from other vans was at day time level. At 1am we were woken to the sound of someone vomiting on the road in front of our caravan and which we thought was a plus at the time we had pitched right next to the water tap. There was a terrible smell from the area we discovered the reason for this on the Saturday night again 1am this was used by several lads instead of the toilet block. Spoke to other campers who seemed to accept all as the norm so we didn't bother to complain. We didn't use the club as it was packed out so can't comment on prices etc toilet block was ok could have been cleaner but it was very busy even for sept.
Pool looked ok and when we walked around the site
The static area was very pleasant the camping field was quieter but a distance away if we had to
Come to this area again we would use our tent as there was more space between units.
Good site for youngsters and very handy for Swansea city park and ride close to camp and
The mumbles and gower not far away

We have just come back from a two day camping stay at riverside caravan park. We stayed on pitch 16 on the touring pitches. We arrived on a Thursday and we were soon setting up the BBQ eating our burgers and sausages! The weather was fine and we were soon taking a look around the park at what we could do. We have 4 children aged 7,4 2 and 1. We saw that there was plenty to do. The park is situated close to the club house and is well kept with lots of different slides swings and climbing frames. Then there is the duck pond. The kids get quite tired after walking around this a few times! The swimming pool consists of 1 large adult pool and a small childrens pool. The pool is clean and warm although there are no changing rooms. This did not bother us as the shower rooms are directly outside the pool. There is also a jacuzzi which is to be used by adults over the age of 21 which lasts for about 15 mins. This made a nice break for me while my partner looked after the kids!
The clubhouse is a nice friendly family orientated club. There are a few arcade games for the kids to play, a pool table and bingo. The pint is ok but a bit pricey at £2.45! A glass of lemonade is also expensive at £1 a glass and thats for the kids! (I would reccomend taking your own pop!) The chippy is nice as they make home made chips! Riverside have allot of fancy dress comps although we wern't here long enough to experience this. The shop sells fancy dress costumes if you are ever caught without one! They also supply things like inflatable swimming rings and armbands etc! The shop has everything you need to survive your stay including newspapers, tin openers, milk, hair brushes, soap and sweets and toys for when its raining! The staff were friendly and very helpful and were always smiling!
Overall our stay at riverside was a good experience and we all came home with lots to talk about! We were tired out and all really enjoyed. We have booked to go again in two weeks time. Hope to see some more new faces there next time!
