A fantastic stay! We had a bad experience at a caravan park in Borth and decided not to stay so we ventured to Aberystwyth in an attempt to find somewhere. Having tried a site nearest to the town but were not impressed we carried on looking. In Aberystwyth we met a couple with a motorhome and they recommended Midfield as they had just left there. So off we went.
The site is situated approximately 2 miles out of Aberystwyth town. The receptionist was friendly and informative providing us with local information and a list of taxis. As it is October we were told we could park where we wanted to. Not all the pitches are level but this is easily countered with the use of levelling blocks. We went to the top of the site and the views from there were stunning. We actually had 2 sea views!
The toilet block from the outside looks a wee bit drab but once inside they are clean and plentiful and very nice. The showers have limitless hot water. There is also a play area for children. The walk into Aberystwyth itself is all downhill and takes approximately 35 minutes. It is much harder on the return journey obviously being uphill. A taxi from town to the site cost just under £5. 00 and was well worth it. We had an absolutely lovely stay and will definitely return.

I was a little apprehensive when arriving at this site having read previous reviews to be honest. I had to leave booking until the last minute as I was travelling around Wales and wasn't sure where I was going to end up!
I was, however, far from disappointed by the whole experience,
The owner was welcoming and very helpful - taking time to chat to people is important and having a very open mind to individual idiosyncrasies equally valuable. She told me all about the local walks and viewpoints, signed me up for the free wireless available at the site and told me, should I need it, that electric hook up was also free!
The site was level with a few sloping pitches which were used by caravans and campervans. No problem finding a level site for my tent.
There was a children's play area which was regularly used and well maintained from what I could tell.
The facilities were more than adequate, free showers and endless hot water. The soap issue wasn't a problem for me but each to their own I guess.
One chap stopped me in the gent's washroom to chat about his thoughts on the site. He said the facilities were outdated and not as good as Caravan Club registered sites. I nodded sagely and thought privately. Why are you here then??
Overall a great experience and would definitely return to see the beautiful Welsh countryside from my tent door!

This site is a gem. We were in the top field of the site and the views were amazing. The site was blissfully quiet. The facilities are very simple and in truth could do with an update but were clean. There was always lots of hot water for showers. I have seen comments about the owners not being friendly. They are not gushing but they are good honest people. They were helpful in a straightforward sort of way some might find difficult to understand but they were always helpful. The site is within walking distance of the town centre if you are fit.We would definitely visit again without hesitation.

I absolutely love this campsite for the view and location to the beach. The owners made us feel welcome when we first got there but it ended there. The reception is at a private home and you have to ring the bell and wait for it to be answered. I felt like I was intruding to the point where I didn't even feel comfortable asking if they freeze blocks for the campers. I'm not going to go into details but we needed assistance twice and their response to each of those is the reason I felt that I was intruding. I wonder if this is the reason this site is so empty at a time when it should have been fully booked. That being said, I wouldn't let that stop me from visiting again, but feel it is a shame that it is that way.
On the plus side, the bathrooms are large and plenty of showers with hot water. As in other reviews, you have to bring your own hand soap. There is a nice dish washing area as well. You will have quite a walk to the loos if camping up on top, but the best views are from up there. Also, we never once used a torch to walk to the loos at night, everything is well lit. The majority of the pitches are level and the others just have a slight slope. It does run along a B road but it never bothered us. There is a small play area for the kids, but has no swings. There are also 2 horses on site and my children loved petting them. On the whole the site is very neat and clean. I do recommend the site and plan on going back. Perhaps the owners were just having a bad week, I know I have mine as well. This is the perfect location for the view and their prices are good. Plenty to see and do in town which is just a stones throw away. The Varsity Pub in town has some great food. Devil's Bridge is close by, a must if you're in the area.

This is a tidy site and we were welcomed by the owners and could pitch where we liked as it was quiet. Plenty of loos and showers which were kept immaculately clean but we were disappointed to find that there was no soap provided for hand washing. We feel that a hand dryer is a luxury but soap is an essential and it would not be expensive to provide. Washing up facilities could do with updating but they were clean with loads of hot water. There are two small supermarkets and a pub within walking distance.

Spent a wonderful weekend at this site. Fantastic weather always makes it. The site owners are warm and friendly. The site is situated close to town with amazing views across Aberystwyth and the sea. The rates are very reasonable for such a lovely site so close to a fantastic town! The toilet/shower block was very clean with plenty of hot water and loo roll. It was situated near the entrance of the site and can be quite a distance from the high view pitches. We stayed in a tent, the rest of the camp were static and touring caravans. The mistake we made was choosing a pitch that was near the toilet block and water, however as this is near the entrance, they seemed to be an almost continuous stream of traffic to and from the tourers and also the main route to Devil's Bridge was behind us, a b-road, but still quite heavy with speeding traffic until quite late into the night. So I would recommend the pitches on higher ground to alleviate some of the passing traffic, but as long as you don't mind the walk to and from the toilets. Other than that, the site is close to town and highly recommended for the shops and local chippie, pubs etc. Local beaches at Borth and Morfa Buchan and also a great car boat sale at Clarach Bay on Sunday mornings. I will certainly return to this site throughout the summer.

Spent a great weekend at the site arrived Friday and departed Sunday. Owners very pleasant and welcoming on arrival. Good views over Aberystwyth and out over Cardigan Bay. Good clean toilets / showers. Peaceful site wear you could relax and enjoy the break. Bring levelling blocks for caravan as parts of the site have a slight slope. Will be back there again next year.

My partner and myself stayed in Midfield for 6 days in July, and we both really enjoyed our stay there. Location was good, not too far from town, washing areas/showers were simple, basic but very clean. The nearby areas are rather quiet too and really very pleasant. We originally only planned to stay for 4 days but we both enjoyed it so much, we extended the stay. This summer, we have been doing a fair amount of camping, and compare to the other campsites we stayed in, Midfield is still one of our favourites, simply because of the pleasantness of the surrounding areas, the ease of getting to town (taxi only around £3!) and the cleaniness of the site & washing facilities. We would definitely recomment this site to our friends in the future.

August 2005 Lovely campsite, fantastic view over the bay, set back 1.5 miles from town, so it's quiet day and night. clean toilets and free showers and it was virtually empty on August bank holiday! Slight slope in certain areas but otherwise perfect. Owners keep to themselves, only saw them when signing in and when they empty the bins. We will definetly be going back.

August 2004 Visited during a wet August 2004 and returned again September 2004. Quiet campsite, electic hook up spots at the top of a field, so really excellent panoramic views over the whole town/sea/university/ with Pen Dinas on one side and Constitution Hill on the other. Shower/toilet block is clean and warm. The owner leaves you alone which is nice. Very easy access from the A487/A4120, but doesn't suffer from traffic noise, apart from the 'toot-toot' of the steam train ! You probably need a car as Aberystwyth is very hilly, and there is so much to see in the hinterland, but there is a pub at the end of the road, and chip shop along Penparcau Road, and everything else in town. TV reception is first rate - didn't need an aerial as you're in direct line with a TV transmitter. It is worth visiting this site for the spectacular views alone. Will definitely return again. Enquiries made via their website were acknowledged straightaway and answered by email the next day. Aberystwyth itself has plenty of shops, the beach of course, lots of resturants/bars, steam railway, arts centre and university. Just outside the town are plenty of places for walking and mountain biking amongst beautiful scenery. Also, League of Gentlemen fans may see a similarity between parts of Aberystwyth and Royston Vasey.
