Went here on the coldest- no bracing-weekend this year, easy to find, good location, as per previous posts. Site clean, tidy, the toilets are a bit dated, but very clean A mixture of hardstandings / grass and six or seven who appeared to be permanent, one guy even had a speedboat in his awning! As stated short walk into town with what must be the most takeaways in a small town I've ever seen. The bus terminal is just down the road and the railway platform, to which you can catch a train to Cleethorpes. Further to previous posts, the steak on a Friday is now £7.95 and still worth it . They also do a fair selection of other meals too, and great traditional beer. There's a country park / visitor centre over the road and a pub only 500 yards from the park. Easy to get to and friendly staff on site, what more could you want? probably not a site to spend ages on, but a good weekend site, will return. The only thing that hurts is having to pay the toll twice !

A gem of a site in an ideal location for exploring both banks of the Humber. This site does exactly what it says on the tin. It is very clean and tidy with well tended lawns and manicured borders and just shows the amount of hard work that has been put in to make this a site for all seasons. The toilet blocks are clean and checked on a regular basis and contrary to some earlier reports there is NO charge for showers, this is included in the reasonable pitch fee. The Sloop Inn is just a few minutes walk away and serves excellent home cooked food accompanied by a selection of hand pulled Tom Woods ales (locally brewed). The Humber Bridge is well worth a walk across and the two nearby nature reserves are well worth visiting. We shall definitely be back and recommend this to anyone who is looking for a clean, tidy and quiet site. Worth more than it's 3 star rating!

I arrived here after a long cycle ride in rain, including negotiating the Humber Bridge. The bridge is probably great in good weather but quite exciting enough in bad weather! The owners were very welcoming and put me on a pitch close to the toilet block, so I didn't get too wet nipping to and fro. This did put me right under one of the security lights though which made it slightly difficult to get to sleep, so I'd try to get a pitch further back next time.
The site is quiet enough, there is a little road noise from the bridge, but not much.
The loos, showers, etc., are all very clean and work fine. There's a little washing/washing-up room with some tourist info.
The town is super - two historic churches, two wildlife reserves with visitor centres and an arts centre (The Ropewalk). The Ropewalk has a super cafe. There is also a museum. There are lots of useful shops strung out along several streets, and several chippies and other eating places.
You can cycle safely into Hull across the Humber Bridge then follow blue signs for National Cycle Route 1. In Hessle there's a cycle shop which has a Hull cycle routes leaflet.
I'm likely to go back to this site.

We didn't pick the best weekend for the weather when we had our maiden camp in our new tent.
We experienced every kind of weather but it didn't deter us from going camping again. We did feel like we were in somebodies backyard and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The on-site plastic tables and chairs were a bonus - although there were only 3 sets of these -fortunately there were only 3 tents pitched that night.
There wasn't a shop on-site but with a new Tesco's a 5 minute walk away a shop is not needed. Due to the weather we didn't explore the local town but wished we had!
We would use this campsite again.

This was our second visit to this great little site, having stayed here over the new year period. The weather during the weekend (1st June to 3rd June)was absolutely great and the site looked really nice and colourful. We didn't mind paying 50p for the showers because as the previous review says you get plenty of time for your money and after all the price of the pitch is reasonable. The owners are very friendly. We have put this site in our regular list as it is ideal for weekends away. Just down the road there is the Sloop Inn which does great home cooked food and the portions are plentiful. Friday night is steak night 12oz steak chips and peas for £6:50. Humber bridge just 15 min walk away and on a nice day its a great walk across. Bus service into Hull from Barton town centre which again is only a short walk away. Lots of things to see in Hull with several free museums as well as The Deep. I would highly recommend a visit to this little gem of a site.

A lovely little site, with a nice welcome as we were shown to our pitch. The May Day weekend meant a site full of vans and tents; but the pitches were well spaced and we had a feeling of peace and privacy. The hard standing was fine with EHU and water nearby. The toilets and showers were a little far away; but ideal for the tents who would need them more. The only real downside to the site was the poor TV reception, I know some have commented about the road noise from the Humber Bridge, but we never found it overbearing. The nearby Visitor Centre is well worth a visit, it's free entry and offers a great opportunity to see wildlife up close, and I would recommend a walk down by the bridge, and see a wonderful feat of engineering up close. Barton is a nice little town, and if you want more then Hull is just over the bridge, £2.70 each way. Ouch! And any newbie to this site simply must visit 'The Deep', a great attraction.

Just got back from a great weekend, a small site but very clean and friendly. My 7 year old loved every minute of the stay cycling round the site and playing. There are 2 playgrounds within a few hundred yards from site and a great area to feed and see the ducks etc. There was a great friendly feeling about the site and we will go back again.

We arrived on the Friday evening without pre-booking and were made to feel very welcome. The site although small, it is very neat and tidy giving you the feeling of being in someone's back garden that is lovingly cared for.
There are two toilets and two showers in the shower block which were clean and heated with disabled access. Showers cost 50p (Oooch!) but to be fair you do get ample time, and there's nothing better in the depth of winter than being able dry yourself off in a properly heated shower block.
Connclusion: An Excellent All Year Site
Turning left out of the campsite and your soon at the Humber Bridge Viewing area, which incidently is the start of the Viking Way, a long distance walk from Barton to Oakham. At low tide it is also an excellent place watching the wading birds feeding in the mud.
Only one word of caution, The Humber Bridge toll. At £2.70 per crossing it can become expensive if you need cross every day of your stay.

We arrived mid evening at this site (dark) and had no problems setting up for the night. A small site but looks to be well laid out, access is easy, and all is kept clean and tidy. Friendly owners. Only stayed one night this time but we shall use this one again.

Visited this very pleasant quiet little site on our first outing, facilities are adequate and very clean. Local pub, shops etc. are all close by. Would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing short break. Sites a little short on hard pitches so best to call and book first. Staff are very friendly helpful.
