A nice little site with very friendly owners. We were there for the Spring Bank holiday so the site was full, but still managed to remain peaceful. I did feel, however, that the vans were a bit close together in the central area - but that's probably not a problem on quieter weekends. Also, another consideration is that you can hear the traffic on the nearby Humber Bridge, which may be a problem for some. The toilet facilities are fairly basic, but kept very clean. The showers, though, have those annoying external coin meters! There is loads of good walking to be had from the site - our two greyhounds loved it - and the supermarket is very handy for buying your BBQ food & drink! We will definitely be back to explore the walks we didn't manage to go on!

We had a really nice weekend at this site. The owners had only just taken over, they were very friendly and helpful. It was nice and peaceful with a lovely view of the bridge and we enjoyed a nice walk by the river and under the bridge. The children enjoyed the nice play area at the bridge veiwing point too. The local supermarket was only a short distance away and stocked everything you could need. The facilities were very clean and adequate.

Visited this site late September for a short break due to its straightforward drive from Lincoln. As we have a greyhound, we prefer somewhere with plenty of walks, amd we were not dissappointed. As you have no doubt read, the site is under new ownership, (a lovely family), they have plans afoot to extend the opening time to March to December. In fact I believe they are taking Xmas bookings now (Barton town apparently close roads then, and have a damn good time). They plan to redo shower/toilets, install hardstandings, etc etc. the area is undergoing a major redevelopment programme.
Literally millions are being spent on flood defences and the new Humber Bridge visitor centre, and reclaiming land from the old clay pits. There are so many places to walk (apart from over the bridge!) and all a few yards from the site. If you want a nice quiet site with superb views,a very nice town for shopping, short or long walks, then we cannot recommend this site enough.

An excellent site, very friendly owners who were extremely accomodating. My only gripe is to advise against pitching a tent next to the row of bushes that seperate the site from the owner's garden, especially right in the corner - under about an inch of the ground is loads of concrete.
We struggled for an hour moving our tents to find a suitable spot and ended up with a couple of bent pegs.

We visited the site last May when we were informed by a fellow camper that it was due to be sold for housing. This did not happen and Silver Birches has now been taken over by a lovely family (inc friendly Westie dog named Hamish) from Lancaster. The site is still nicely kept considering the family have only been there a few weeks and the owner informed us that he is going to update the shower/toilet block along with the small road that assists caravans entering the back of the site.
We love this site because of the trees, the peace and the fact it is small. There were children on site (previously not allowed which we liked )but as long as they are well behaved we do not mind. Having said that, it is not a site geared towards children anyway but there is a really good playground and grassy areas in the park by the Humber Bridge. There has been a lot done in recent years by the river to make it more attractive to visitors and a nature centre is being built.
The Sloop Inn down the road from camp also does an excellent steak! Proudfoots Supermarket is in walking distance as is the train station should you want to use public transport to either Grimsby or Cleethorpes.

May 2003 This is a lovely little site. Situated near the Humber Bridge.
You can walk along the river Humber. Also any one who is interested in bird watching they have opened up a new bird sanctury just across the road. although it isnt finshed yet there is still plenty of birds already nesting!!
The supermarket just down the road from the site which also as a nice little cafe.
You can vist Normanby Hall country park, and Elsham Hall
