Not a touring site any more, which is a shame. This site is now a holiday home park with static caravans - no tourers.

 Good Points:-

1)Lovely well presented site

2)Owners very helpful upon arrival, and helped you pitch up etc.

3)Great location at the side of the Humber Bridge with easy access into Hull at a cost of £2.70 each way for a car and £4.90 for car and caravan.

4)Even though the site is right at the side of the humber bridge there is no traffic noise.

5)Lovely little town in Barton, with pubs, take aways, supermarkets etc etc, and there is a Tesco within a 5 min walk away.

Bad Points:-

1)Nothing for kids whatsoever to do on site, maybe beneficial to put a little kids play area with swings etc ( but there again we were told on site that come October that the site will be just for static caravans only, so the owners probably don't want to spend too much)

2)Toilets and shower area, very very dated and seemed rather damp and cold, although the showers were free and there was constant hot water.

But overall if your looking for a total chill out weekend, then this is the place.

This site is ideally situated to visit all the local attractions and a handy stopover for the ferry port at Hull. The site owners were friendly and took me to the pitch. The pitches are large gravel hardstandings or grass, some pitches sloped so levellers may be required. The small orchard at the front of the site had picnic tables and tents pitched there.
The toilet block was very clean but dated, two showers had their own power. The heating was on timer but that and the hot water (separate power) were cold, there was an 'Out of Order' sign. Chemical disposal and a small dishwash / Utility / Information room was on site.
Close to the site is a Cycle Hire shop, a large Tesco & Factory shop.Next to Tesco was a rail station with trains to Cleethorpes & Grimsby. We took a bus from the station to Hull, every 30 mins, journey took 25 mins and cost £6.30p return (taking into account bridge toll & parking, thought it reasonable).
Visited The shops,Wilberforce museum (Anti-Slavery) & the excellent Hull & East Riding Museum (kids will love the waxwork re-constructions) all free.Barton town has shops, Pubs, banks, butchers & a Lidl. There are Ghost Walks during the winter months & town is only a 15 min walk from the site.
The Humber Bridge dominates the site but is not intrusive & noise wasn't an issue.Lots of great walks from the site.A great site but would be a lot better if the shower block can be sorted.

We decided to come here as it is near to where we live (25 miles). My partner and I had bought a new tent and we simply wanted to try it out and didn't want to go too far in case it was disappointing.

Well what a shocker it was.

We arrived on the Saturday lunchtime and we had booked for two nights. Time enough to test the tent.

Having been shown to the plot by Sybil the owner she then went and got an extension lead for the hook up for us to borrow as ours was not long enough.

Having explained where everything was to us Sybil left us to it.

We unpacked the tent and within an hour the tent was pitched, everything in its new place and the table and chairs out with the drinks set up.

I sat down and looked at the surroundings finally having time to take them in.

This place is absolutely beautiful.

Lovely pitches for tents and caravans alike. Hook up inclusive with the £14 per night. More than appropriate amenities in a well kept site.

Halfway down my second drink we decided how much we liked it and went and paid for a further 4 nights on top of the 2 we had originally booked.

We had fallen in love with the place.

Plenty to do locally including the Humber Bridge and well within distance of viewing Normanby Hall and other stately homes.

Plenty of amenities locally ie. Shops, restaurants and pubs etc.

We will definitely be going back.

We stayed at this site for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it,the site is very well maintained the grass is kept short we even saw the grass being cut when a caravan moved off before the next arrived, the toilet and showers were adequate but could do with upgrading. There are lots of nice walks to be had if you like walking, the town has numerous pubs and takeaways, morrisons supermarket is only a short walk from the site, and there is a pub even closer only two mins form site gates which does food.(The Stoops)

All in all a great little site the owners are friendly and welcoming hope to visit again soon

Just returned from silver birches were we had an excellent long weekend, the camp site is located in a small orchard apples plumbs and pears, eat as much as you like. The nicest site we have stayed on so far,we do not have kids but if you do there is probably not much for them to do on the site. It is very good base for cycling though, the only slight downside is the showers could do with updating but they are kept spotless, and it certainly would not put us off going back. Highly recommended

This is a really lovely site, the gardens have been very well looked after. Although it can be difficult to see the humber bridge.

When we arrived we were told we would under the trees, this we though would be lovely, until we discovered that it was a fruit orchard the place was buzzing with wasps so we had to keep the tent mesh closed most of the time and our shoes on outside.

Toliets and showers are good, the disabled toilet and shower is open to all which could be used as a family room.

A little guy came round selling veg from his allotment at very cheap prices, which was nice.

Also an ice-cream van came round which on a hot day is lovely.

The local area can be really beautiful and the humber bridge is stunning and is a fantastic walk. We made it to the cafe on the other side and back, which took us the best part or the day.

Tescos really is almost on the other side of the road so we were never short of supplies.

Eating out is also easy as Barton is quite large and has lots of choice.

Prices included an electric hookup whether you need it or not which we though was a bit unfair as we don't have any need for it.

Just back from a lovely weekend at Silver Birches.

I rang up on Saturday morning and due to a cancellation we got a pitch. The site was otherwise full and the people I spoke to were regular returners.

The site was very easy to find and check in at reception was easy.

The site is very well looked after, we got a gravel pitch which was well leveled and the ehu was behind us a short distance so easy to reach.

The toilet block was ok, 1 shower in the gents out of 2 was broken though. Showers are free. Soap and toilet roll also provided.

Lots of recycling bins in a central area.

5 min walk to Tesco where there is a cash machine and a pub about 1/2 way between Tesco and the site.

We had an evening meal at The Sloop Inn after reading another users review on here and was not dissapointed. Large portions and a good price.

We visited the nature reserve over the road at 'Waters Edge' with its visitors centre and had a walk around, then under the Humber Bridge to Far Ings nature reserve and its education centre.

After the meal on the night we had a nice stroll down to the end of the road to the bridge viewing point to see it lit up at sunset.

I think next time we will do the walk along the bridge to the otherside - yes we will be returning.

Just had a wonderful night at Silver Birches. The drive up to this site is a bit off putting (looks a bit industrial and run down) but once there what a diamond in the rough. It's like driving down an industrial road and then turning left into the countryside. It is beautiful.
We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome by the owner who led us to our pitch. The site is stunning, well manicured lawns and landscaped areas and gorgeous established trees everywhere. Our pitch had been mown specially for our arrival! We didn't have hook up as we booked last minute but electric hook up for tents, caravans and trailers was £14, which we thought was superb.
The couple that own the site never seem to stop doing jobs, even down to refilling paper towels in the toilets at 7.30am. The facilities are superb, 4 or 5 ladies toilets and 2 showers which had a tray with a curtain and a separate area to get dressed in with a seat plus 3 sinks. We never had to queue for any of the facilities even though the camp was full. My hubby says the mens were just as well kept with 3 urinals, 1 being lower down the wall for the little men on camp, our 3 year old loved this as he was like Daddy! There is constant hot water. A separate utility room with 2 sinks and an iron and board for your use. Loads of leaflets and ideas on the notice board for the guests to read at their leisure. Everything was immaculate. Full recycling area.
A Tesco is 5 mins walk from site and Humber Bridge viewing area is 5 mins the other way. The view of the bridge from the site is wonderful. The traffic can be heard from the bridge, but only as a slight drone, nothing to stop you from sleeping. There is a pub 2/3 mins walk from site and several further along the road. Lost of places to eat as well. There are 3 parks within walking distance. A walk round the marine area is def worth it. It's a European Marine Conservation area and is lovely.
The owners try to 'vet' the people requesting pitches to avoid rowdy noise makers, making everyone's stay more enjoyable. We will def be going back. Def a 10/10

Visited here for one night just after the Easter weekend, I was surprised how nice the site looked. When I arrived at the reception the owner was very helpful, she took me to our pitch and explained where everything was. I asked what time we needed to be off the pitch (we were on foot) and she told me to take as long as we needed and that she wouldn't rush us off.

We had a very nice pitch not far from the loo area. The toilets and showers although not completely modern were absolutely immaculate and there was also a ramp and disabled toilet / shower. There was also a pot washing / laundry room although the designated sink was for hand washing only, there was also an iron and ironing board if needed. Information was also provided on EHUs they are 10 amps and list was given for the No. of amps each appliance approx uses.

Tables and chairs were dotted about the site which was unexpected and a godsend. I did also see a picnic table with the wooden benches.

A little bit of traffic from the Humber bridge could be heard on a night, but it was nothing major.

Although there was no camp shop there is a tescos not 5 mins walk away and plenty of eateries in the town.

If you do have children there is the country park area towards the foreshore. There are play areas there for children and a massive space to play football (but wouldn't leave them there unsupervised) as no ball games allowed on site. There is also the nature area which is set in 80 odd acres.

The site is an excellent place for peace and quiet and a smashing base to explore Lincolnshire. If you are going to venture across the Humber bridge just bear in mind the toll fees if you are in car.

I would definitely use this site again as a quick get away for 1 or 2 night in the future.
